There is an approx. 3 inch long thin crack in the dash above the instrument cluster. The top of the drivers door panel has small sun damage."

You are bidding on a very unique Toyota Land Cruiser.  I purchased it 9 years ago in May of 2004. It is a California vehicle.  It runs great. The A/C blows cold.  All the options work.  Below is a list of the items that either I or the previous owner did to this off the hook Toyota.

Hi performance Man-A Free 2F engine with 5 speed manual transmission.  This was done in 2002 by the previous owner.  The shop bill for this alone was $12,073.34.  The odometer at installation was 190669.

ARB Front and Rear Big Bumpers.  These are seriously beefy.  The rear has the swing-a-way spare and ladder.

ARB Front and Rear Lockers with 4.88 gears.  Very low miles on these.  This makes it crawl out of just about anything and matches well the 35 inch tires and 5-speed tranny.  Parts alone cost $2852.

Safari Snorkel and IPF Off Road Lights. Paid $1015 for the parts.

Extended range fuel tank that holds a massive 40 gallons of fuel.  Great for the bug out and getting away from everything.

The BF Goodrich 35X12.5R15's have about 25 miles on them.  They are on 15X10 steel wheels (not real bead-locks but they look cool).

The exterior is covered in Camo-Clad vinyl wrap.  This looks good and is very easy to care for.  I have extra wrap for touch up.

The shocks are interior adjustable Ranch 9000s.  To up front and four in the back.   When on the street adjustments help control the lean around corners.

Warren 9.5ti wench is brand new and never used.  It will mount to the front or the back with a cradle. $1499 paid.

Thule roof rack system with bike attachment.

Side Rails that are welded to the frame.

Front seats have a 5 point harness seat belt system.

The stereo has all kinds of amps and speakers.  It was installed by the previous owner.  It's not really my thing but is fun to crank it up once in awhile.

I have receipts for almost all the upgrades and services .

Feel free to contact me with any questions.  I will try to respond quickly and accurately.  Please only bid if you are ready to buy. Thank you for taking the time to read this and good luck bidding.

Toyota reaffirms commitment to body-on-frame SUVs

Mon, 29 Jul 2013

Toyota sold 121,055 Highlander CUVs in 2012, according to Automotive News. By comparison, it sold 78,457 examples of four different body-on-frame, truck-based SUVs (4Runner, FJ Cruiser, Sequoia and Land Cruiser). One could argue then, that the traditional SUVs aren't pulling their weight from a sales perspective. Yet that isn't stopping Toyota from reaffirming its commitment to a segment that has seen its former champions - Ford, General Motors and Chrysler - abandon it with alarming speed. Ford and GM still offer body-on frame utilities, but only in the very largest offerings, catering to seven or even eight passengers. Everything outside of the Expedition or Tahoe rides now on a unibody.
Toyota's decision to stick with the technology is good news if you're in the market for smaller SUVs that are still capable of heading well off the beaten path. Outside of the Jeep Wrangler, Grand Cherokee (a unibody) and perhaps Nissan Xterra, there's not much in terms of capable SUVs between $20,000 and $50,000. As the Toyota brand's US head, Bill Fay, says, "Clearly, the trend has shifted, but there is still an owner base that is interested in these vehicles."
We don't doubt Fay on that, but it may also be somewhat telling that Toyota's SUV lineup is aging, and we haven't seen or heard much about replacement models in the pipeline. Admittedly, the 4Runner (pictured) has been facelifted for 2014, but it's mostly cosmetic in nature. Despite Toyota's posturing, we still expect its body-on-frame lineup to thin in the coming years as sales dwindle and escalating fuel-economy standards make business cases even tougher. Here's hoping that Toyota manages to keep at least one rough-and-tumble SUV in its lineup in the coming years.

Mazda CX-5 named Japan's Car of The Year, Subaru BR-Z wins "Special Award"

Mon, 03 Dec 2012

The Mazda CX-5 stamped its Kodo design and SkyActiv technology authority all over the Japan Car of the Year awards, taking the top prize ahead of the Subaru BRZ/Toyota GT 86. It is Mazda's second victory in the last ten years, the 2005 MX-5 claiming the same trophy, and the fourth time the Hiroshima company has won.
The award is decided by 60 local "automotive experts and journalists," and open to any passenger car released in Japan from November 1, 2011 to October 31, 2012 that has sold more than 500 units. Each judge gets 25 votes, his or her top vote getting 10 points, the rest of the points being spread among the judge's choice for the next best four cars.
The second-place getters were the Toyobaru twins with 318 votes, the surprise being they didn't beat or get any closer to the crossover. The Subaru BRZ did claw some mojo back, earning the Special Award given to cars that have made "an exceptional impact." The BMW 3 Series was third overall and won the Import Car of the Year award with plenty of room between it and the second place Range Rover Evoque.

Toyota builds world's first 'outdoor website' for RAV4 promo

Thu, 08 Aug 2013

This whole thing started with the premise that Toyota's target RAV4 buyers are people who spend their time cycling, hiking, and generally not in front of computer screens. These people are therefore not able to benefit from the full website experience that Toyota has built for the RAV4. We should clarify that the video below is for Toyota South Africa, and maybe RAV4 buyers there really are the disgustingly outdoorsy ideal that us bacon-eaters are not living up to.
Toyota's agency partner, Hello Computer, set up a 1.8-kilometer track at a cycle park that replicated sections of the automaker's website with real physical displays and interactive feedback. Riders were asked to leave their mouses and hit the trail on a mountain bike to experience the RAV4 Outdoor Website and learn about the vehicle.
That seems like a lot of effort for something that's available on the smartphones of these hyper-active people who aren't in front of computers, but hooray for creatively conquering a problem that didn't exist. Hey, let's not be complete wet blankets - maybe some of the cyclists that ran the Toyota gauntlet got a RAV4 for their to- and fro-ing after the experience. Check out the video of the outdoor website below.
