1984 Toyota Fj60 Land Cruiser 4x4 Project on 2040-cars
Eagle, Idaho, United States
I've owned this for about 3 years and driven it all over town and the mountains until I seized the engine a few months ago. Everything was reliable until the engine died. The seats were solidly mounted with to the stock brackets after about 10 hours of fabrication. I have no idea what the seats came from but they're leather, power and very comfortable. The passenger seat has a 1" tear that isn't noticeable to most people and could easily be repaired. I have not finished hooking up the power to the seats. The dash is cracked and peeling. Where the bezel surround the air controls I narrowed it and removed the coin holder that is normally there. You may notice the radio is not in the stock location because of this. The radiator is a polished aluminum radiator that was installed in 2013 and works great. It's made especially for a Cruiser. I installed a Specter Offroad smog pump delete bracket/pulley. The reason why a few engine items are missing is because I thought I was going to put a 5300 in it but I have too many projects and too little time. This does have rust in the normal spots. I cut out most of the rust and replaced it with fresh metal around the drivers side rear wheel area. The passenger side still has the rust. The tailgate has rust on the bottom 1". You could replace the rust with fresh metal, use it as is or get another tailgate. The roof rail has rust bubbles around it. This has the original front and rear bumpers which are pretty straight. The transmission and transfer case work great. Clutch is good. You'll see the the rear window needs replaced. It has a hole in it. All seat belts are there an installed. Door panels would look better if you replaced them too. I purchased the wheels from Summit back in September and they fit great along with the 33x10.50-15 BFG's. One tire is new and the other three are good tires. They do not need replaced. This does not have a lift kit on it and the tires are tight but with a little massaging around the fender wells they'll fit perfectly. There are a couple of spots that get some tire rub but very little. The lights work and it's ready for a new engine.
This Cruiser needs an engine, carb and distributor to drive. Nothing else. Everything else it could use is cosmetic. It's a project.
If you want it shipped then I can have it at my business in Garden City, Idaho for a truck to pick it up. Right now it's at my house.Shipping is the buyers responsibility. I can help load it. |

10 most memorable cars and SUVs of 2019
Tue, Dec 24 2019It's no surprise that a car reviewer will drive a large number of cars over the course of a year. Indeed, when the clock strikes midnight on Dec 31, I will have driven 75 new cars, trucks and SUV this year (and one old Peugeot) over the course of weekly evaluation loans and first drive events. That sure seems like a lot. Some definitely got more attention than others, and some came and went without leaving much of an impression – I completely forgot I drove a Kia Forte. Yet in the spirit of this day, I thought I'd pick the 10 that I would love to see under the Christmas tree tomorrow morning. You know, just in case you were looking to get me something. I'll also throw in a couple disappointments that were memorable for the wrong reasons. They'd get sent back to the store on Boxing Day. Lexus LC 500 Pictured below and resplendent in its Flare Yellow metallic paint, the car that would reach highest on my list is the divine Lexus LC 500. As a devout lover of GT cars, the LC ticks all the boxes. Muscular and characterful engine? V8, check. Beautifully made and memorable interior? It's gorgeous, to hell with Remote Touch. Check. Comfortable and reasonably practical? Superb seats and, uh, yeah. Makes me want to stand there and stare at it? You bet. Though I long figured my heart would say LC but my head "Porsche 911," after this go-around, that's no longer the case. LC, pretty please. 2020-lexus-lc500-f34-2 View 19 Photos Polestar 1 I actually feel lucky that I got to drive the Polestar 1. Only 150 will be produced each year, and it's a far more special thing than it would initially appear. And that's despite initially appearing to be a beautiful, classic two-door GT car with a roof so rakish it's only possible because it's made of carbon fiber. That itÂ’s a massively powerful plug-in hybrid with more all-electric range than any other PHEV is a thick dollop of whipped cream on a slice of Toscakaka. You know, Swedish dessert, Swedish car. Fine, I'll stick to Ikea references. Polestar1_Launch_SanFrancisco-0014 View 44 Photos Volvo V60 Cross Country Speaking of Sweden, did I drive this car off the road there? Sure did! And despite this, the V60 Cross Country scratches that certain wagon itch and looks sensational to boot. I wish it were available with the T8 plug-in hybrid powertrain, but it's best not to get greedy at Christmas.
Toyota adds 1.6m cars to Takata inflator recall list
Tue, May 24 2016As part of the Takata airbag inflator recall expansion announced by NHTSA earlier this month, Toyota has listed an additional 1.6 million cars that will need to have inflators or airbag assemblies replaced. This brings the total of recalled Toyota, Scion, and Lexus vehicles to 4.73 million. Other automakers will announce their expanded recall lists this week as well. This round of recalls affects some but not all vehicles with the following model names and years: 2009–2011 Toyota Corolla and Matrix 2006–2011 Toyota Yaris 2010–2011 Toyota 4Runner 2011 Toyota Sienna 2008–2011 Scion xB 2007–2011 Lexus ES 2010–2011 Lexus GX 2006–2011 Lexus IS To see if your specific vehicle falls under recall, write down your VIN and go to toyota.com/recall; you can also check any recalls, Takata or otherwise, at safercar.gov/vin. Toyota will inform owners of affected vehicles by mail. Depending on the model, either the inflator or the entire airbag assembly will have to be replaced. Due to the number of vehicles that have already been recalled, it may take some time for the necessary parts to be available. A total of 11 deaths have been attributed to the faulty Takata inflators, and federal investigators now know why the parts are prone to failure. The state of Hawaii was the first to sue the auto supplier, with more states expected to follow. The 17 other automakers are required to announce their additions resulting from the May 4 expansion this week, so expect more of the 35 to 40 million vehicles to be listed soon. Toyota pimps out Esquire van for Japanese businessmen [w/video]
Wed, 29 Oct 2014A few months back we reported on a dealership owner in Japan who was petitioning Toyota to make a luxury van. The problem, he reasoned, was that he couldn't take as many friends, colleagues and clients around with him in his Lexus LS, and his Toyota Alphard van wasn't luxurious enough. Well, it seems like he wasn't alone, and Toyota has listened.
The Japanese auto giant has just revealed the Esquire, a new luxury van designed with just such customers in mind. It's significantly smaller than the Sienna we get in America, smaller than the aforementioned Alphard and about the same size as (this writer's favorite) the JDM Noah van (on which we gather it's based). But what sets the Esquire apart is its upscale appearance.
The boxy van is distinguished by its dominant T-shaped chrome grille with a unique emblem that encompasses a shield, sword, "the collar of a gentleman's suit" and the letters Esq. The flank is characterized by a strong beltline with chrome lower window frame and an expansive greenhouse with tinted rear glass. Inside the flexible cabin you'll find accommodation for seven or eight passengers (depending on specification), synthetic leather upholstery and wood and metallic trim. There are even wheelchair-enabled models on offer as well.
