1982 FJ40

FJ40 comes with 2 sets of rims. The stock white, and the powder gray steel rims shown on the first few photos. The color is closest to the first photos, the shots with the white rims were taken with a filter and at sun set. True color is the first set of photos (lighter color) which is the stock, original Toyota Beige.

Hard to find, rust free, original, fully restored.

Power - Factory power steering on a stock 2F inline 4.2 motor. Good compression all around. Starts and runs great, holds the road straight and true. Has 3:70 road gears, shifts tight and smooth. Passes California emissions handily.

Interior -- dash, door panels, mats, seat covers all like new. Original front mat, with added insulation and carpet underneath. Dash uncut, all gauges work. 108,000 original miles.

Exterior -- brand new stock beige paint code throughout, lights all work, tow hitch, new steel powder coated wheels and caps. Comes with original off white slotted rims as well.

New- Maxxis Mud TA's, door weather seals, shocks, bumper, radiator, battery, windshield, front seat covers, headliner, battery tray, blinkers and tail lights, Toyota badges, cap cover, front and rear carpet and insulation.

I am selling this for a client who has clear California title. He purchased the FJ40 from me in August of 2012 after we did a full restoration on the vehicle. It is and always has been a west coast FJ. Since purchase it has a few hundred more miles and sits covered in his garage.

I reserve the right to end the auction early.

Here is a list of what I had done last year prior to selling to my client.

The list of new parts is extensive and includes

5 new Maxxis Mud TAs, 31X10.50X15s on stock powder coated rims

New door weather seals all around for a very tight cab
New shocks
New bumper
New radiator
New battery
New seat covers (SOR)
New windshield (OEM)
New Headliner
New battery tray
New blinkers and tail lights
New OEM Toyota badge and emblems
New Stainless Screws throughout
New Bumperettes
New OEM license plate bracket, rear.
New visor covers
New door seals all around.

This is a very nice example of an original 1982 FJ40 that runs like new and is in excellent condition, inside and out.

Last few photos are my 1983 FJ40 (BJ42) 3B Diesel. Full Frame off restoration that is very close to finished. 28 mpg, 72,000 original miles. MINT. Coming to eBay soon.

Bid with confidence. Great 1982 FJ40 with CA smog certificate.

More powerful 2017 Toyota 86 takes over for the Scion FR-S

Thu, Mar 17 2016

Scion is dead, and the FR-S name passes away with it. The rear-wheel-drive sports coupe isn't gone, though, because it's now the the 2017 Toyota 86. To match the new moniker, the latest model finally has a little extra power and more aggressive styling. The public debut will take place at next week's New York Auto Show, and sales begin this fall. "When we announced the transition of the Scion models to Toyota we hadn't planned on changing the names of our cars, but by popular demand, for our sports car, we decided to adopt the global name of 86," said Toyota Division Group Vice President Bill Fay. The 2.0-liter boxer-four's output grows to 205 horsepower and 156 pound-feet of torque – increases of 5 hp and 5 lb-ft – on manual-transmission models. The 86 still isn't the turbocharged rear-wheel-drive coupe of some people's dreams, but at least this is an improvement. (Buyers who opt for the automatic will have to make do with less power and fewer pedals.) Toyota also promises "additional performance" thanks to different gear ratios for the six-speed manual transmission, and there's now Hill Start Assist Control. New shock tuning and spring rates will affect the handling, too. The 86 wears a meaner look than the outgoing FR-S. The biggest change is a new front bumper with a large intake that stretches across the coupe's width, and the two sharp points along the bottom look like teeth ready to chomp down. Toyota also replaces the headlights and taillights with LED units. The twist-spoke wheels are a great accompaniment to the more aggressive look, too. The tweaks are more modest inside, including silver stitching and new materials for the dashboard and doors. Toyota will also display the C-HR crossover concept again in the Big Apple. We won't see the production version until later this year, and sales won't begin until spring 2017 as a 2018 model. The former Scion FR-S will debut as the 2017 Toyota 86 at the New York International Auto Show with interior and exterior changes, as well as suspension and powertrain upgrades. The new Toyota 86 will go on sale at all Toyota dealerships this fall.

Toyota's future fuel cell vehicle lineup revealed?

Wed, Aug 26 2015

Being an Olympic sponsor from 2017 through 2024 puts Toyota in the international limelight, and the company is preparing a fleet of efficient, cutting-edge vehicles just in time for the Tokyo games in 2020. At least eight new models could be on the way, according to Automotive News citing Best Car from Japan. Three of those might make use of the hydrogen fuel-cell powertrain developed for the Mirai. While many of these fuel cells are going into Japan-only vehicles, one of them could come here. Reiterating earlier rumors, Automotive News reports a hydrogen-powered Lexus LS is set for 2018. It could be even lighter than the current hybrid model, too. A similar version of the Toyota Crown would launch there in 2019 and possibly an FCEV Estima minivan, too. Beyond fuel cells, Toyota also intends to put the JPN Taxi Concept from the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show into production in time for the games, according to Automotive News. For 2017, the brand's flagship Century is also expected to adopt a hybrid V8 to replace the current V12, as well. Plus, many of its Japanese-market vans are also due for updates. All of this is certainly a massive undertaking to be ready in time, but Tokyo want to use the games as a chance to show the city as an innovative, international destination. Automotive News predicts Toyota could supply thousands of vehicles to haul all of the athletes and dignitaries around. In addition, the Japanese government wants 6,000 fuel cell vehicles on the road and 35 refueling stations up an running for the games. Related Video:

Aston CEO claims Cygnet cancelled because Toyota is dropping iQ in 2014

Sun, 27 Oct 2013

While slow sales and a $50,000 price tag may have been contributing factors to the Aston Martin Cygnet being cancelled last month, Aston Martin CEO Ulrich Bez is pointing the finger at Toyota for the demise of this luxurious little city car. In a discussion with Autocar, Bez is quoted as saying that the ultimate reason the Cygnet was cut is because Toyota plans on dropping the iQ (on which the Cygnet is based) in 2014 - a claim denied by the Japanese automaker.
Interestingly, the article also cites another publication reporting that a Toyota importer in the Netherlands heard the same news as Bez, and it has already stopped importing the cars. If the European Toyota iQ is cancelled, that would likely spell the end of the slow-selling Scion iQ in the US, which has sold just 3,365 units through September (a drop of 51 percent year over year).
Regardless of why production of the Cygnet ended, Bez also says that a lack of support from Toyota on the project prevented it from being offered in the US or receiving a supercharged engine, which are two factors that likely would have made the car appealing to more buyers.
