This rare truck is a real head turner, a hoot to drive, and is very reliable. I get attention everywhere I go in this.

Here is some history as I know it from the person I bought it from:

The truck was bought new at a dealership in British Columbia, Canada in 1980 and was a one owner until the person I bought it from a year ago brought it to the states in 2012. I have owned it for one year and have driven it about 6000 miles, it currently has 101,000 kilometers or just over 60,000 miles.

The truck has the original motor, all the gear boxes and drive train. I have the steel, split rim wheels that came with the truck with tires. The glass in all the windows is in excellent condition.

I had it professionally inspected when I purchased it and from the inspection had the oil in all the gear boxes and motor changed, new fuel pump and cross strut that the rear shocks attach to replaced.

Here are the items I have purchased new:

Wheels and tires

8000 lb winch

8 lights professionally installed by 4 Wheel Parts. 2 fog, 2 rear back up’s and 4 on the headache rack

Muffler and tail pipe

I had custom, one of a kind, new front and rear bumpers built and powder coated and powder coated the original headache rack.

I replaced the front right fender (because of a small dent) and the right door had some rust and I replaced it also.

Headliner and door panels

New digital radio with speakers behind the seat

Hi-Lift jack and mount behind passenger front fender

Fire Extinguisher mounted on headache rack

Maintenance items:

The motor has a slight manifold exhaust leak

The bed floor is rusted out and needs replacing.  I put a rubber mat in the bed and use it that way.

There is some surface rust on the body in various places (look at photos).

I have tried to keep this truck as original as possible to maintain the collect-ability and nostalgia of this awesome, one-of-a-kind truck. When parts have been replace, built or upgraded, I have spared no expense to make this truck the pride of its owner.

I am only selling this truck to pay some medical bills and I am sure to regret it. Family comes first though.

Buyer pays all shipping and additional state taxes, etc.

2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser Ultimate Edition

Thu, 10 Jul 2014

Introduced at the end of 2006, this is the last year for the Toyota FJ Cruiser, the reincarnated FJ40-series Land Cruiser that will shortly journey to Takama-ga-hara, the Plain of High Heaven. In its first model year, we drove it to SEMA and found it, shall we say, coarse. It bobbled on the freeway and droned in the cabin, its boxy interior providing four bounce-boards for unpleasant frequencies. Tall mirrors helped one work around the eclipse of vision aft of the B-pillars, but navigating traffic required forethought and technique. Its turning circle was measured in kilometers. For the first two years of its life, it needed premium gas. It may have been fun to look at, but we couldn't wait to get out of it.
That's not the case anymore, and now the FJ Cruiser is poised to join a long list of vehicles that got better and better, then got axed.

Toyota, Ford decide to end hybrid collaboration before it starts

Tue, 23 Jul 2013

Not all so-called Memorandum of Understanding pacts end in actual collaborations. For instance, after a two-year "feasibility study," Toyota and Ford have just announced that they will not be developing hybrid systems for use in light trucks and SUVs as previously planned, and the two automakers will instead continue to develop their own hybrid technology independently.
The would-be collaboration was first announced in August of 2011, and would have seen a rear-wheel-drive hybrid platform that would "improve the efficiency of trucks and SUVs while still allowing them to be driven in the way customers expect," according to our initial post on the topic.
Keep in mind that this announcement isn't to say we shouldn't expect hybrid pickups and SUVs from the two automakers, but that they probably aren't coming very soon - Ford says it will have a system "before the end of this decade" and we haven't heard much from Toyota on the hybrid truck front since the 2008 A-BAT Concept (pictured above) - and that they will not share any components between them (and they never have, for what it's worth).

Toyota launches updated Verso-S in Europe

Wed, 14 May 2014

Globally, the Toyota Yaris has bred more variants than we can shake a stick at. It's been known in different markets as the Vitz, the Platz, the Bella, the Vios and, to us, as the Echo. The first-generation model bred a small cargo van called the Yaris Verso - a mini minivan riding on the shortest wheelbase in its class - which was renamed the Verso-S for Europe and alternatively known as the Space Verso, the Ractis, the Ractis Verso and even the Subaru Trezia in certain markets. And now Toyota has launched a revised version of its Verso-S in Europe.
Arriving as a mid-life facelift after three years on the market, the new Toyota Verso-S has been reinterpreted through the "Keen Look" design language that's been distinguishing the latest generation of Toyotas, particularly in the European market. That means new projector-beam headlights and LED daytime running lights, a reshaped grille with chrome surround, more LEDs around back, a fresh set of 16-inch alloys and new color options.
The interior has likewise been spruced up with new trim and color choices, as well as a tire pressure monitor fitted as standard. There's a new touchscreen display with more connectivity options, upgraded nav and a rearview camera as well. Since Toyota's made no mention of engine upgrades, until we hear back, we have to assume the 1.3-liter inline-four and 1.4-liter diesel engines carry over unchanged with the buyer's choice of either a six-speed manual or continuously variable transmission.
