For Sale - 1977 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40
This stunning 1977 FJ40 was originally purchased at a Barrett-Jackson auction and the new owner had Red Line Land Cruisers of Colorado Springs work to restore and tastefully modify this FJ. A frame-off restoration was performed BEFORE the added modifications/new restoration was completed, so this Cruiser has been restored twice-over to meet the exacting specifications of the new owner.
If you're looking for a dependable, completely restored, show-quality, rugged and dependable Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 that can conquer any trail or terrain, this is the one! No sacrifices were made during the restoration and crafting of this beautiful, head-turning rig!
Some of the key features of this FJ40 include the completely rebuilt 2F engine with electronic fuel injection and a brand new Toyota 5-speed manual transmission (H55). This go-anywhere, do-anything, classic FJ40 has tasteful upgrades while remaining very original. For those of you in humid climates concerned about rust, this is a perfect choice for you for two reasons: 1) The body was in pristine, rust-free condition before the restoration was started and 2) The LineX paint job, both inside and out, ensures an air-tight bond against the metal, which will give you confidence that your Land Cruiser will remain rust-free for decades to come, no matter what you throw at it or how humid the climate!

Toyota has had number of chiefs over its 76-year history, but none ever served as long as Eiji Toyoda. The younger cousin of the company's founder served as president of the automaker from 1967 to 1982 and as chairman of the Toyota Motor Corporation for another ten years following the unification of the manufacturing and sales divisions. During his 25 years at the helm, Eiji Toyoda (pictured above in 1967) was credited with establishing the company's headquarters in Toyota City, spearheading the development of the Prius, expanding production overseas for the first time, launching the Lexus brand and turning Toyota from a minor player into one of the largest automakers in the world. Even after his retirement in 1992, he remained an honorary chairman and close advisor to his successors, and chaired the company's museum. He died of heart failure, ending a 100-year life that started on September 12, 1913, before the company that bore his family's name (albeit slightly modified) had even started building automatic looms, let alone automobiles. We extend our condolences to the Toyoda family and our congratulations on an accomplished life.

Historically, the Toyota Harrier has been a doppelgänger for North America's Lexus RX - at some points, it was little more than a badge-swap and a few options away, at least aesthetically. That appears to be changing with this just-revealed new generation at the Tokyo Motor Show. That's because this two-row, five-seat Toyota is in possession of a bold new look, dominated by a jutting, baleen-like grille edged in chrome, along with new headlamps and fascia. The greenhouse has likewise been revamped and gotten more pointed at the rump, which has new taillights, a resurfaced tailgate and a faux rear diffuser. Were it to be ported over to North American Lexus dealers intact, the Harrier's look would be jarring in light of the brand's spindle-grille-based design language, so we suspect that if the RX gets any of these updates (it was just refreshed for 2013), it will strike out on a different path visually. Unlike the US RX, the new Harrier will rely on smaller-displacement four-cylinder engines, namely a 2.0-liter paired with a continuously variable transmission or a 2.5-liter four backed up by an electric motor. We'd like to see a smaller-displacement option for the US RX (it presently runs with 3.5-liter V6 engines in both gas-only and hybrid guise), but suspect it won't arrive until the next all-new model.

If you're in the market for a new electric vehicle, now is definitely the time to buy or lease. Following price drops on just about every other EV on the market, Toyota is looking to push a few more all-electric RAV4 crossovers out the door over the Labor Day weekend. The Detroit News is reporting that, through September 3, anyone looking to get into a RAV4 EV in Los Angeles or San Francisco, can get a deal: a $299 a month lease (no word on down payment, though) or zero-percent financing for 60 months for buyers. The $49,800 RAV4 EV normally leases for twice as much - $599 a month - so this move could be an attempt to sell more of the 2,600 units Toyota has planned to produce. Or maybe, if you thought $599 was a fair price, you can now get two RAV4 Evs. Although temporary, the price drop comes at a time when many other EVs on the market have had their prices reduced, including the Nissan Leaf, Chevy Volt, Smart Fortwo ED and Honda Fit EV, not to mention already low prices for the Fiat 500e and Chevy Spark EV. *Note: 2012 RAV4 EV pictured here
