This is a beautiful project fj40 landcruiser that my father and i bought as it sits with hopes of finishing it together. he has since had 3 back surgeries and we are not going to get it done so we've decided to sell it to make room for other things. The project is pretty much down to the final assembly and fit/ finish stuff.

it is a fiberglass body with a one piece front end

the frame is black powdercoated

the engine is a GM performance 350 V8. i believe that it is still under a warranty as it has only been fired once. as far as i know we can transfer that warranty, but i do not know for sure. the exhaust is completely jet hot coated from the headers through the tail pipe. the listing says it is an inline 6, because ebay won't let me change it.

the tranny is a turbo 350 that has been rebuilt with a shift kit

the transfercase is a an NP208

axles are GM 10 bolts with outboard mounted leaf springs. is has been converted to power steering as well.

it has 17" rims with cooper discoverer tires. the rims are in good shape, the tires are used, maybe good for a summer of road driving, but not much beyond that.

here is a partial list of parts that go along with it

-new aluminum fuel cell that mounts under the rear with braided stainless lines

-3 complete and 1 disassembled leather audi bucket seats

-new painless wiring harness

-round eyes HID headlights

-locar shifter

-complete set of autometer phantom gauges

-aftermarket tilt steering column

-lots of misc other parts. i'm in the process of unpacking all the parts that we have stashed for it and ill update the listing as i have more detials.

Toyota mini doc chronicles Tundra towing Space Shuttle Endeavor

Thu, 21 Mar 2013

Toyota has worked up a quick video detailing the brand's involvement in the transportation of the Space Shuttle Endeavour last year. As you may recollect, the California Science Center ran into a hitch when it came to moving Endeavour from LAX to its new home. While most of the route would be covered by a robotically controlled transporter, one portion of the route directed the shuttle over an interstate. Unfortunately, the bridge across wasn't designed to stand up to the weight of the shuttle and its motorized sled.
The Science Center would have to remove Endeavour from its transporter and place it on a lighter, non-motorized sled. That's where longtime Science Center sponsor Toyota came in. As it turns out, the automaker had to prove to the California Science Center that a Tundra could actually tow the massive shuttle, so engineers put on a little demonstration with a stock truck pulling the equivalent weight over flat ground for the same distance. Once the Science Center was satisfied that the Tundra could pull it off, the move was green lit and the rest is history. Check out the short documentary below for yourself.

Toyota settles for $3M after being found liable in sudden acceleration case

Sat, 26 Oct 2013

A jury has decided that faulty software was to blame for a crash involving a 2005 Toyota Camry that killed one woman and injured another. This is the first time Toyota has been found liable by a jury in a lawsuit involving sudden acceleration claims. Toyota has maintained that driver error is the most likely cause for cases of sudden acceleration.
Shortly after the jury in the case, which took place in Oklahoma and centered around a crash that injured 76-year-old Jean Bookout and killed her passenger, Barbara Schwarz, reached a verdict that would see Toyota paying $3 million in compensatory damages, a confidential settlement was reached. The jury, which had found Toyota liable for "reckless disregard" for public safety, had yet to decide what punitive damages Toyota would face.
Toyota said in a statement, "While we strongly disagree with the verdict, we are satisfied that the parties reached a mutually acceptable agreement to settle this case. We will continue to defend our products vigorously at trial in other legal venues."

Meet the Most Elegant Automobile, and it's for sale

Sat, 08 Jun 2013

Alright, so maybe "most elegant" is a bit of a stretch, but we feel safe in calling the 1992 Toyota Paseo in the video below an "automobile." High praise, we know. Still, it's clear someone loves the awkward little coupe enough to produce a hilarious video to sell the thing. Henry Floyd worked up a quick parody of the over-the-top luxury car ads we all know and loathe, and while the finished product is a little skimpy on details like price or location, it certainly doesn't hold back on the exposition.
Hell, if we didn't already have a parade of horrible ideas floating around our collective driveways, we might even be convinced to give this little heap a new home. You can check out the ad for yourself below, just don't be surprised if you find yourself with a burning desire to own a Paseo.
