1977 Toyota Fj40 Land Cruiser on 2040-cars
Beach Lake, Pennsylvania, United States
For sale is a 1977 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser. This is an untitled 350/4-barrel conversion project. Since I am unlikely to become a rock crawling enthusiast, I am letting this rig go in order to concentrate on a stock
'77 2F project that I subsequently purchased to restore as my hwy/off-road everyday driver. This FJ arrived as a running project, so I test drove it prior to storing it in a friend's barn for the winter. The front disc brakes, power steering, transmission & 4-wheel drive operated normally. The rig has a high lift intended for rock crawling that more than accommodated the 33 x 14.5 Super Swamper tires seen in the photos. The Swampers have since been parted out and replaced with a set of (4) Cooper Discoverer H/T tires (70%) mounted on stock cygna white OEM wheels. The frame is in excellent condition. The radiator is currently leaking. I will include a replacement OEM 4-core radiator. The tub & cowl alone are worth what I have set the reserve at. It has some minor holes that wouldn't present any problem to an experianced restorer. . To remove the rig from the barn last week (to part out the Super Swampers), I needed carb starter to get it going, but it repeatedly stalled before getting parked. I suspect a fuel filter replacement or carb cleaning is needed. A complete tune-up will eventually be required. If time permits, I will get it running again and you can drive onto your trailer, but be prepared to load it alternatively, e.g., with a come along winch. I will assist with loading. This FJ40 is being offered without a title. Let me be clear, THERE IS NO TITLE WITH THIS VEHICLE. Please Note: eBay did not provide a listing option for an untitled vehicle when formatting this listing. According to the PO owner, he was promised but never received the title from the seller from whom he bought it. Since he was going to continue the build as a rock crawler and planned to trailer it anyway, he didn't follow thru to obtain the NC title. This vehicle DOES HAVE the original vin plate on the driver's side cowl door jamb. Two notarized original bills of sale will be provided to the buyer, so that they can retain an original in the event they attempt to re-title the vehicle and are required to submit an original bill of sale. Please refer to the listing photos for condition details of the parts included (below) in the sale of this project. Parts included: * FG roof with operable moonroof * L & R hardtop side panels * L & R complete ambulance doors w/ hinges * L & R complete front doors w/ hinges * Front bib/grille (modified) * Set of (4) OEM stock TLC wheels w/ Cooper tires mounted on them (70%) * Windshield frame (glass cracked on driver's side) * Roll bar OEM * Stainless steel headers * Mickey Thompson valve covers * Complete NIB wiring harness kit ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ THE FIRST $2500.00 TAKES IT!!!!!! OR $2000.00 (WITHOUT THE AMBULANCE DOORS & ROOF PANEL) ALSO AVAILABLE FOR SALE IS A CLEAR TITLED 1972 FJ40 THAT IS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING PARTED OUT. I WILL CONSIDER PACKAGING BOTH VEHICLES TO THE RIGHT BUYER. PLEASE CONTACT ME AT 516.509.0492 WITH ANY QUESTIONS, OR REQUESTS FOR INFORMATION & ADDITIONAL PHOTOS. |

Toyota recalls 370k Sienna minivans, 10.5k Lexus GS models over separate issues
Thu, 22 May 2014The year of the recall continues, but this time it isn't from General Motors. Toyota is announcing two, separate recalls affecting a pair of its models.
First, Toyota is recalling 370,000 Sienna minivans from the 2004 to 2011 model years that are registered or originally sold in cold-weather states. The problem is that the spare tire carrier assembly cable can be splashed by water contaminated with road salt and cause corrosion. There is a splashguard in place to prevent this, but it sometimes gets lost in "normal usage," according to the company. If the cable does break, then "the spare tire may separate from the vehicle."
This is actually the second repair for this problem for some of these vehicles. In 2010, Toyota issued a recall on 600,000 Siennas from the 1998 to 2010 model years. At the time, it installed a new splashguard and sprayed the area with an anti-rust chemical. However, according to Toyota spokesperson John Hanson speaking to Autoblog, the campaign worked for the 1998 to 2003 models but wasn't sufficient for the newer ones. For the latest recall, the vehicles are getting the entire cable replaced with a stainless steel unit and a new splashguard.
Ford barely edges surging Chrysler for Canadian sales crown in best year ever
Thu, Jan 8 2015The auto industry in the US showed strong results through much of 2014 with sales regularly growing year-over-year for many brands. That same trend carried over in the Great White North, as well. Canada posted its best numbers ever with 1.85 million units sold, up about 100,000 vehicles over 2013. The country nearly had a new market leader, too. The big winner among our neighbors to the north in 2014 was Ford with 291,951 vehicles sold, up 3 percent from 2013, according to Reuters. That success also handed the company the sales crown for the fifth consecutive year. In large part, the strong result came from the company's popular trucks, which represented about 80 percent of overall sales. "Ford moved into the number one position in September and didn't look back," said a note to clients by DesRosiers Automotive Consultants quoted by Reuters. However, the Blue Oval didn't exactly take an overwhelming lead for the year. The company nearly had to hand over the sales trophy to FCA after the company rallied in the latter part of the year. The Italian-American conglomerate had its best results ever to nip at the Ford's heels and move 290,004 units for 2014, a 12-percent improvement from last year. Jeep especially helped the bottom line with over 50-percent growth, according to Reuters. Only two other brands were able to break the 200,000-vehicle barrier in Canada for 2014. General Motors came in third place overall with 249,800 sales, up 6.3 percent. The combined Toyota and Lexus also barely jumped the hurdle with 200,851 units moved, a 2.8 percent improvement.
Toyota Camry incentives and fleet sales cranked to keep sales crown, insiders worried
Mon, 01 Jul 2013We've been watching for some time now as Toyota has piled more incentives on the hood of its Camry sedan, and Automotive News reports that the we're not the only ones with raised eyebrows. The current Camry hasn't even been on the market for two years, but the family sedan segment is more hotly contested than it has been in years. It's that high level of competition that has led the automaker to uncharacteristically add more money on the hood in order to assure it maintains its long-held title of America's Best-Selling Car, a mantle it has owned for a dozen years. It's ramping up fleet sales, too.
According to the analysts at TrueCar, Toyota has bumped incentives per unit every month this year, now totaling some $2,750 as of May, a 38-percent hike over this time last year. That's more spiff money than the segment's other best sellers, the Nissan Altima ($2,400), Ford Fusion ($2,300) and Honda Accord ($1,400), all of whom have actually decreased their incentive spend by 20- to 40-percent over the same period.
The ramp up in incentive spending and fleet sales has analysts concerned that Toyota will tarnish the Camry's historically sterling resale value. ALG pegs the 2013 Camry's current 36-month residual value at 54.4 percent, well ahead of the segment average's 50.9 percent (but shy of the Accord's 55.6 percent). However, analysts are concerned that as the current generation ages, their resale values will eventually plummet if incentives continue to increase as Toyota looks to keep the Camry's best-selling car crown going forward.
