Toyota Land Cruiser restoration shop offers this 1976 FJ40. This truck was built to be an expedition vehicle meaning it can be driven on paved roads comfortably, while being capable off-road. Many off-road builds go too far losing the ability to be driven on paved roads at highway speeds. This truck cruises very safely at 65mph. There are high dollar components in this build, this truck is solid. The truck is turn-key, ready to enjoy now. We spent a lot of time and money on this one. I kept all the factory emissions equipment on this FJ40. I have 110 pictures on a photobucket link below, check out my builds on the link all stock to wild. I have 4-6 FJ40’s for sale on eBay or coming up from a stock restorable rig to an original paint stock daily driver. http://s953.photobucket.com/user/fj40man79/library/1976%20Yellow%20Orion MECHANICAL The 2F inline 6 was rebuilt a couple years ago with performance in mind. This is one of the best running 2F’s I’ve had, pulls like a stock small block. We just adjusted the valves, adjusted and set everything. OE carburetor built for off-road. Electronic ignition, Optima battery. Mudrak 2 1/2 ton power steering with cooler. The steering box is adjustable ratio, I set it in the middle for good highway manners, you can adjust it to make it turn quicker for off-road very easily, with a wrench and allen key. 1 finger turn steering, 33 in tires with excellent tread on aluminum wheels, full size spare. Fine spline axles, 4.10 geared the real deal only made 76-78, front disc brakes. Entire brake system just rebuilt. Exhaust is perfect, couple years old. HFS 4 in lift kit with greasable shackles. This is the complete lift with new springs etc. best out there right with OME. Camber correction kit. New springs mounts, front bumper with winch, all welded to perfection, you will not break a weld on this truck. GM 465 4 speed transmission, heavy duty clutch, to Orion 4to1 transfer case. With the Orion case and bulletproof GM trans, lowest gear barely moves, great for off-roading. Con-Ferr roof rack with HELLA off-road lights. Con-Ferr made the best FJ40 stuff until they went out of business, this rack with 3 cross-bars can hold a lot of weight. CB radio and antenna. Original AM radio. BODY The body on is solid. There are minor surface rust spots from scratches and overall use, we buffed the exterior and the surface rust spots to seal and protect. Everything opens and shuts as it should, the hard top has pop out windows for summer ventilation. Factory roll bar and rear jump seats. The front seats are in excellent shape, came out of a Honda. On non-stock vehicles, I usually replace the front seats for comfort and fabric so no burned ass in the summer. The original dome light has been changed out to a much brighter unit that is actually effective at night. The body is in overall great shape speaking FJ40, but not so nice it becomes a trailer queen. Rock guards on the tail lights, heavy duty tow package. MY OPINION This is a well built FJ40. If you want a truck to drive on and off road that still looks good and still resembles a FJ40 this is for you. Building a truck like this from stock form would cost twice the price I will sell it for and will take some time. This truck is ready to go right now. The money has been spent on the mechanical upgrades, this is not a cosmetically perfect truck , not built that way. If you plan on using this truck, that was my intention, if you want a mint original, I build them that way as well, but not this one. I built this truck for a true sportsman. I will have 4-6 FJ40’s for sale on eBay right now or coming up soon, keep watching! I require a $1500 non-refundable deposit immediately after auction conclusion. The rest wire transfer or cashier’s check within 5 days closed auction. I hold a clear clean WA state title in hand for this truck. I welcome 3rd party inspections during the auction, winning is not 1st chance to look. I own Auto Appraisals & Pre-Buy Inspections so skip me in the phone book. I have a shipping broker whom I trust, will pass his info to you, he only does lower 48, I can get this to Alaska Hawaii or other countries as well. Payment will be made to my business. I reserve the right to end this auction at any time for any reason, I will consider serious offers. Fj 40 landcruiser fj45 bj42 bj44 fj-40 |

2014 Toyota Corolla and Tundra production underway
Fri, 02 Aug 2013After months of leaked photos and speculative reports, Toyota finally unveiled its 2014 Corolla to the world in early July at a star-studded California party. The confetti has been swept up and the champagne flutes washed and stored, and now the real work can begin: production. Toyota has announced that its new C-segment player has begun rolling off the lines at its plants in Mississippi and Ontario, Canada this week ahead of the planned start of sales in September. What's more, the refreshed 2014 Tundra pickup has also segued into production in San Antonio, Texas.
Corolla production in Mississippi is still a relatively recent phenomenon, with the plant having begun assembly of the outgoing model in the fourth quarter of 2011, while Toyota's Cambridge, Ontario plant has been churning out the compact volume king since 1988. Conversely, the Tundra has been in production at the Texas facility since 2006, and Toyota projects that the plant will build its milestone one-millionth new vehicle in September, right around the time the reworked fullsize pickup goes on sale.
Toyota releases its Le Mans recap, 'The Ultimate Endurance Race'
Wed, 28 Aug 2013Two weeks ago, Audi released its short video about this years 24 Hours of Le Mans, and now Toyota has put the experience into its own words and pictures. Called The Ultimate Endurance Race, the clip and accompanying press release focus on how hybrid power helped Toyota claim second and fourth places with the TS030 Hybrid in just its second year competing at Le Mans.
There are some brief scenes of the battles had this year, like when Lucas di Grassi in the Toyota almost kissed Allan McNish in the Audi above, but the best part might be when Toyota promises it will be back. Next year, it's gonna be good. You'll find the relevant words and the images just below.
Asian automakers still reluctant to use more aluminum
Tue, Jun 24 2014There's a logical progression of technology in the auto industry. We've seen it with things like carbon-ceramic brakes, which use to be the sole domain of six-figure sports cars, where they often cost as much as an entry level Toyota Corolla. Now, you can get them on a BMW M3 (they're still pricey, at $8,150). Who knows, maybe in the next four a five years, they'll be available on something like a muscle car or hot hatchback. Aluminum has had a similar progression, although it's further along, moving from the realm of Audi and Jaguar luxury sedans to Ford's most important product, the F-150. With the stuff set to arrive in such a big way on the market, we should logically expect an all-aluminum Toyota Camry or Honda Accord soon, right? Um, wrong. Reuters has a great report on what's keeping Asian manufacturers away from aluminum, and it demonstrates yet another stark philosophical difference between automakers in the east and those in the west. Of course, there's a pricing argument at play. But it's more than just the cost of aluminum sheet (shown above) versus steel. Manufacturing an aluminum car requires extensive retooling of existing factories, not to mention new relationships with suppliers and other logistical and financial nightmares. Factor that in with what Reuters calls Asian automaker's preference towards "evolutionary upgrades," and the case for an all-aluminum Accord is a difficult one. Instead, manufacturers in the east are focusing on developing even stronger steel as a means of trimming fat, although analysts question how long that practice can continue. Jeff Wang, the automotive sales director for aluminum supplier Novelis, predicts that we'll see a bump in aluminum usage from Japanese and Korean brands in the next two to three years, and that it will be driven by an influx of aluminum-based vehicles from western automakers into China. Only time will tell if he's proven right. News Source: ReutersImage Credit: Sean Gallup / Getty Images Plants/Manufacturing Honda Hyundai Mazda Nissan Toyota Technology aluminum
