The Ultimate in a Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40!
*****************************************************
Please read carefully:
Up for auction is a completely restored and customized, 1975 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40. Please continue to read for all the details.

Please Note: The first few photos of the completed cruisers in this listing, are actually of "two different" Land Cruisers I've previously sold on Ebay and not the 1975 restored FJ40 for sale here. They are being shown simply as representation of exactly what the cruiser offered here will look like.... Please read on:

The 1975 Toyota FJ40 for sale here, is in it's final stages of being completed and will be available for delivery the end of February 2014. Normally, I've always completed a restoration before offering it for sale. I am listing this cruiser before final completion, due to a couple simple reasons. Honestly, I am invested in this project well beyond what I originally had planned. As you'll see in the photo presentation, every inch of this cruiser has been addressed and all work completed with care and quality detail. I simply need to secure a buyer before I invest another $15,000 from my pocket... This cruiser will be set up exactly as those you see in the beginning photos. Every bell and whistle possible is included while at the same time, being careful not to take away too much from the stock appearance that made these rigs so popular. The best of both worlds!  If it sells in this auction, I will be keeping the buyer informed with photos daily as to the progress…. Again, scheduled completion by the end of February 2014. That does depend on the buyer and if any special requests might want to be added. At this point, I am in the final re-assembly stage, however, I also am not too far, if a buyer might want a different color, different wheels, different tires, ect., those are definitely a possibility and can be discussed if the sell price can justify the change. The only thing I won't change at this point, is the drive train. I am extremely confident in my work and all my restoration projects. If you’d like more details on exactly what this 1975 FJ40 project will include, please read the description below:

On the Ground
This Land Cruiser will be equipped with new 35x12.50x15 Goodyear MTR’s mounted on new polished aluminum custom wheels with a matching spare mounted on the tire carrier on the rear. The leaf springs will be installed on top of the axles to provide a 5 inch lift (SOA), which will allow for the suspension to maintain the ride and handling as from the factory. All new shackles, shackle bushings, and greaseable bolts will be used on all leaf springs. Front and rear will be set up with all new power disc brakes, (rotors, calipers, pads, and master cylinder) along with all stainless steel brake lines. It will also have all new saginaw power steering and custom high steer arms to allow clearance over the springs. Front and rear differentials are completely gone through will have the OEM, 411 gearing and have all new seals and gaskets throughout. All new Rancho 9000 adjustable shocks and steering stabilizer will complete the underside and give this cruiser as comfortable a ride as possible. The entire tub will be sandblasted and taken down to bare metal. Both the inside floorboard and the underside of the tub will then be sprayed and coated with a bed liner to protect from any moisture or future rust.

Under the Hood
The power train will include a totally rebuilt SBC 350 set up by the well known Sauer's Machine, from Medford Oregon. They have been building quality motors for years and offer a 7 year/100,000 mile warranty on this one. It will be dressed out with all chrome accessories, topped with a new Edlebrock carburetor, aluminum valve covers, and matching aluminum oil pan and air filter. It will also be cooled by a new all aluminum radiator and 16” thermostatically controlled electric fan. The transmission will be a completely rebuilt, Turbo 350 automatic, and will be bolted to the OEM two speed transfer case. The exhaust will be all custom, starting from the ceramic lined, chrome plated, block hugger headers, and continuing down along the inside of the frame and then dumping out just behind the rear tire on the driver’s side. This system will be designed and built with all 3” pipe for maximum flow and optimum performance.

The Body
The tub and all body parts will be totally stripped and re-painted in GM’s brilliant white. All the hardware, hood hooks, door hinges, windshield hooks, vent covers, handles, will all be new polished stainless steel or newly chromed. The front will contain a CCOT custom shackle bumper, chrome tow hooks, a Warn 9500lb high speed winch, and an on board air system for airing up tires, swimming tubes, or just blowing off dust after a long ride. As mentioned above, the rear will contain a swing away tire carrier for the matching spare, and a 2” receiver tow hitch installed that will be wired for towing. There will be a special tail gate included for use when the ambulance doors are off during the Summer as well. The rear quarter panels and side running boards will have diamond plate covers for cosmetic and protection purposes only. They will be installed with weather stripping to prevent any moisture from penetrating that could possibly cause rust or other damage. All lighting, turn signals, marker lights, and headlights, will be new along with chrome rock guards and a chrome headlight bezel. This rig will come with a hard top. It will have two sets of doors, one full set, and a custom half set for Summer. All windows will be dark limo tint and a new headliner will be installed.

The Interior
The interior will contain a full roll cage securely mounted for protection. Front leather seats will be full “8 way” power and mounted on a special designed frame. In between the seats will be a Tuffy lockable console to protect your valuables. Rear seats will be either FJ40 foldable jump seats upholstered to match, or a custom bench seat. That will be the buyers choice and will be installed at the time of sale. All new seat belts will be installed front and rear and safely secured. The entire dash will have all rebuilt or new OEM gauges and controls and will be fully operational with the GM power train. There will also be a new Vintage heating and air conditioning system installed for comfort in all seasons. A full stereo/navigation system with back-up camera will fill the spot where the OEM radio was placed. The steering column will be a tilt GM model and hold a new Grant steering wheel. The ambulance doors in the rear, and the front doors, will have all new window regulators, new window felt, and all new weather stripping. As mentioned earlier, the entire inside of the tub will be bed lined for protection. As a final touch on the interior, there will be a custom fit carpet set installed in both the front and the rear.

Summary
This is a total “FRAME OFF” restoration! Not a nut or bolt will be left untouched during this build, and most, will be replaced with stainless steel instead of the regular hardened steel hardware. I’ve tried to list everything to be included on this 1975 Land Cruiser restoration in this description. There are many other basic options that might not listed here, but will be part of the restoration. There are also other options that can be added that aren’t listed. Those items, depending on what they are, can be discussed and possibly included as well. Please don’t be afraid to ask any questions..

Please remember, this project is not scheduled to be complete until next month. At that time, I will deliver for free within 500 miles of my home in Northern California.

A complete photo documentation is available upon request. I will be happy to send you the link to that slideshow. Unfortunately, Ebay policy will not allow me to include it in this listing.

Recharge Wrap-up: Toyota FCV wears silver, Foxconn's $15K EV, solar power at GM

Mon, Jun 30 2014

The Toyota FCV made its North American debut at the 2014 Aspen Ideas Festival, and this time it's not sporting its usual blue sheet metal. This silver paint job shows a bit more contrast. Certain features stand out a bit more, especially the black strip that wraps around the grille and down the sides of the hood to the mirrors. This is the production version of the car's exterior, which will go on sale in California next summer. Toyota also had its Driver Awareness Research Vehicle, DARV 1.5, on display in Aspen. DARV 1.5 uses technology to decrease driver distraction and measure driver behavior to provide a safe driving score. See more of both cars in our image gallery. Taiwan's Hon Hai Precision Industry (also know as FoxConn Technology Group) says it is planning to build electric cars that will cost just $15,000, according to The China Post. The world's largest electronics maker, which assembles mobile devices for Apple, promises that the cars will be highly connected. "When integrated with cloud computing, the Internet, smart traffic and smart cities in the future, people will be able to drive more easily and reduce car accidents more efficiently," says Hon Hai chairman Terry Gou. At a shareholder's meeting, Gou didn't comment on production timing or other details about the cars, nor would he answer questions about possible cooperation with Tesla Motors. Hon Hai made headlines in recent years after a series of employee suicides, which led the company to raise worker wages and install anti-suicide netting on its buildings. EV advocates in Illinois took a 500-mile road trip to help temper range anxiety in potential buyers, says the Chicago Tribune. The demonstration, organized by the Illinois Green Economy Network, meant to show people that they can use electric vehicles to drive long distances without getting stranded with a dead battery. The drive began near Carbondale and traveled to 11 different community colleges with charging stations before terminating in Grayslake. Illinois has about 5,000 registered electric vehicles, and 450 public and private charging stations. General Motors is building three acres of new solar arrays to produce an expected 400,000 kilowatt-hours of renewable energy per year. The new arrays at GM's Swartz Creek processing center and Flint engine plant will be completed this fall, contributing to the company's 38 megawatts of solar power from facilities around the world.

TMG's super Lexus LS Sports 650 gets track tested

Thu, 05 Sep 2013

The people at Toyota Motorsport GmbH have been responsible for the Japanese automaker's motorsports efforts since the 1970s, but since Toyota pulled out of Formula One after the 2009 season, the tuning shop has been developing a super sedan based on the Lexus LS called the Sports 650. Details on TMG's first road car have been scarce, but XCAR was recently invited to drive the 641-horsepower Lexus on track.
Here's what we know: the Sports 650 has enough power to sprint to 60 miles per hour in under four seconds, tops out at 199 mph, weighs over two tons and utilizes LFA brakes. Oh, and its twin-turbo V8 bellows like an AMG V8. That last part isn't surprising when considering TMG could become Toyota's in-house tuning arm - like AMG is to Mercedes-Benz. As for the bespoke body kit, fender flares and stacked exhaust pipes? They fit the car well and even remind us a bit of Lexus' other high-performance sedan, the IS F. Currently there are no plans for the Sports 650 to be made into a production car, but we doubt TMG is devoting this much effort developing the LS into a road-rocket for nothing.
Check out XCAR's video below to see the AMG-fighter wrung out on track, and then ponder what could be if TMG were let loose to fiddle with other cars in Lexus' lineup. Now that's something we could get used to!
