1974 Toyota Land Cruiser Fj40: Clean One Owner 96,123 Runs Great on 2040-cars
Pocatello, Idaho, United States
Hello, and welcome to my FJ40 auction. I am the second owner of this vehicle and she has been my daily driver for the last few months. The odometer has not turned yet and sits at 96,123 miles.
I got the Land Cruiser from Teton Toyota here in Idaho after they decided to retire her. She was used for hunting and camping, as well as some plowing in her day. This rig is really solid and is in excellent condition. The engine, transmission, transfer case, lights, heaters and all of the switches work. This FJ40 was taken care of and received regular oil changes and maintenance. The vehicle itself is in excellent condition and doesn't have much rust for a Cruiser. The only real rust is on the drivers side floor pan and below the rocker panel on the drivers side. The drivers side floor pan is still functional but will need to be replaced at some point. This FJ40 is stock as they come and is all original minus the rear floor. Here is a list of the original OEM part on this vehicle: The engine 4 speed transmission and transfer case are all stock. The engine is all original including the air intake, carburetor, etc... The entire body, frame, axles, etc are stock with no aftermarket parts. The interior is all original including all of the switches, lights, and all four seats The doors and hatch are all original and in excellent condition. The front and back doors are entirely rust free, and are some of the most beautiful FJ40 doors I have ever seen. You can see that most of this vehicle is stock and in great condition. I personally really like the 1974 FJ40 because it was the last year of the hatch, but it also was the first year of the 2F engine and the 4 speed transmission. I know from past experiences that those ambulance doors are really dangerous for small kids and fingers in general if you don't secure them. The hatch never fails as long as you have it lifted high enough to get under it without smacking your dome. This was also the last year of the older style doors which in my opinion are the coolest of the FJ40 doors. That at least goes for the retro steel interior. This FJ40 would be an ideal restore project, daily driver, or hunting rig. It does have a little rust along the driver side but the fender, frame, back end, and undercarriage are really solid. The Cruiser has not been modified at all and is all original. The front seats will need to be reupholstered, and the drivers side rust will need to be replaced with new steel. The hood will also need to be buffed out and repainted. There is also a small dent on the hood that will need to be pounded out if you want to do a full restore. I do have a pristine hood for this Cruiser if the lucky winner is interested in purchasing it from me for $75.00. I will throw it in the back of the FJ40 for you:) I have a video on Youtube that shows the car running, shifting, driving, and a complete walkthrough. I can also store the vehicle for 30 days once payment is made if you need time to arrange shipment. You will need to pay me to store it any longer than that. Payment must be made within one week of auction ending. Thanks for looking and have a wonderful day:) http://youtu.be/gsnSAs0t99I |

400-hp Toyota Hybrid-R Concept gets second teaser
Tue, 13 Aug 2013Toyota has released a second teaser of its Hybrid-R Concept, along with an estimation of the show car's power output. Using technology that's "similar to that used by Toyota Racing's TS030 Hybrid race car," the concept is expected to deliver over 400 horsepower.
The press release also mentions that the new concept is based on a current production model. While it's difficult to tell from the sole teaser image of the car's body, rumors are flying that it's related to the Yaris. If that's the case, though, it's difficult to know what to make of this concept. The teaser image is quite dark, but we played around with the exposure and came up with an image that reveals more details about the new concept. Take a look at the related gallery, below, to see the high-exposure image. We'll find out for certain what the Hybrid-R is in a few weeks at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Let us know what you think Toyota's newest concept is in the comments.
Toyota buys Daihatsu for small-car development
Sun, Jan 31 2016Toyota is getting serious about small cars, but it's not going at it alone. Instead it's turning to its subsidiary Daihatsu, with which it will now share more resources and expertise. And in the process, it's acquiring the remaining stake in the smaller automaker. Daihatsu is a Japanese carmaker founded in its present form in 1951, but with roots that trace back as far as 1907. Toyota acquired a controlling interest of 51 percent in Daihatsu in 1988, bringing the company under its umbrella. But now it is raising its stake to 100 percent by a reciprocal share-swap agreement that will see Daihatsu's other shareholders take 0.27 shares in the larger company for each share in the smaller. As part of the new arrangement, the Daihatsu division will take the lead in developing new small cars, both for itself and for its parent company. Toyota in turn will also share key technologies with Daihatsu, and both will share each other's networks in emerging markets. The bottom line is that we can expect to see more small Toyotas and Scions developed and built by Daihatsu in the near future. The Daihatsu name may not be as familiar to Americans as some of Toyota's other brands. It briefly sold models like the Charade and Rocky in the United States under its own name in the late 1980s and early 90s. However US customers may be more familiar with those it built for the Scion brand, such as the Scion xB that was based on the Daihatsu Materia. While the realistic part of our brains force us to admit it's unlikely, the dreamer within us will hold out hope that the new arrangement could see a Scion version of the nimble little Daihatsu Kopen roadster make its way to our shores in the coming years. Toyota and Daihatsu to Strengthen Small Car Operations through Unified Global Strategy Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota) and its subsidiary Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. (Daihatsu) have reached an agreement whereby Daihatsu will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Toyota by way of a share exchange (expected to be completed in August 2016). The purpose of the agreement is to develop of ever-better cars by adopting a unified strategy for the small car segment, under which both companies will be free to focus on their core competencies. Ultimately, this will help Daihatsu and Toyota to attain their joint goal of achieving sustainable growth. Additionally, the aim of the share exchange is to enhance the value of both brands.
BMW-Toyota joint sports car project is on like Donkey Kong
Mon, 30 Dec 2013It's official - there will be a jointly developed sports car from BMW and Toyota. While the two auto giants signed a Memorandum of Understanding that pledged to pursue "joint development of architecture and components for a future sports vehicle" back in June of 2012, in the interim, it has remained unclear how those plans had been progressing. BMW has finally officially confirmed that the German and Japanese manufacturers will be codeveloping a pair of sports cars in addition to pursuing other disciplines including fuel cell systems and lightweight technologies.
"We have agreed on a joint architecture for a sports car. What is important is that there will be two different vehicles that are authentic to the two brands," BMW Development Chief Herbert Diess told Germany's Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Reuters is reporting. This is a very, very big step for both brands, but now the speculation can officially begin as to what the products of this agreement will look like.
There's ample reason to believe that the BMW-Toyota tie up will result in a Supra successor based on comments made by the chief engineer of the GT86/FR-S program, Tatsuya Tada, back in August. Follow that with a rumor from earlier this month that Toyota could debut a Supra concept car at the upcoming Detroit Auto Show later this month, and we could be seeing the fruits of this partnership sooner rather than later.
