This is a 1972 Toyota Landcruiser FJ40 that has been turned into the ultimate dual purpose rig.  Drive it to the trails at interstate speeds, wheel it hard and drive it back home.  I recently acquired a 1967 GTO and wife says one of them has to go.  I put approximately 500 miles on it with no issues.  Has been wheeled a few times.  This truck is super fun to drive and I hate to see it go, but as I said I acquired a new toy and have to let something go.  There are a ton of parts on this truck and I have the majority of the receipts for parts.  Have a ton of photos and if there is anything in particular you would like to see let me know.  Here we go:

Motor pulled from low mileage 1992 mustang 5.0 - motor has all new seals, timing chain, water pump, spark plugs, MSD cap and rotor, Ford motorsport wires, EGR delete kit, MSD coil and painless wire harness to keep fuel injected, headers, 2.5 inch stainless steel exhaust with magnaflow muffler and new brass freeze plugs
Aluminum radiator with electric fan
NV4500 transmission with low 1st gear
New Centerforce clutch pressure plate, throwout bearing and flywheel
Advanced Adapter to mount transmission to bellhousing
Atlas II 4.3 transfer case
GM tilt column
Collapsible steering shaft
PSC saginaw steering box with PS cooler
Blue Torch high steer arms with QA1 rod ends and ARP studs
Dana 60 front axle with Ford high pinion - new wheel bearings, brake calipers and rotors - 35 spline outer shafts with Warn hubs - 410 gears - Proffits Cruisers outbored spring mounts - shackle reverse with stock FJ springs
14" travel Bilstein shocks and Blue Torch differential cover

Hummer H2 wheels with 37" tires
Custom front and rear drive shafts

Warn wench - 8500 lbs.
Custom sliders
Metal Tech roll cage
Corbeau suspension seats
Crow 5 point harnesses

Sylvania Silver Star headlights
Polyurethane body and suspension bushings
Custom motor and transmission mounts

I am sure I am probably missing some parts somewhere due to this truck's custom touches throughout the vehicle.  GA does not issue titles for vehicles of this age.  Will be sold on bill of sale.  Is currently registered and tagged in state of GA.  If you have any questions feel free to call Todd 706-220-0395.  Will ship if needed, but at buyer's cost.

Toyota Mirai might be the name of new fuel cell car; it means 'future'

Wed, Jul 30 2014

Anybody remember the Ford Futura? It wasn't exactly a world-beater of a car, so we don't think the name Toyota's has apparently chosen for its first production fuel-cell vehicle is a tribute of sorts. Though one never knows. Maybe Toyota just likes 18-inch-tall EVs. The Japanese automaker has apparently settled on a nameplate for its fuel-cell model, and the name will be "Mirai," which means "future" in Japanese, Bloomberg News says, citing a person familiar with the process that it didn't identify. Bloomberg couldn't get anyone with Toyota to comment on record about the name – and neither could AutoblogGreen – but we do remember that Toyota has bandied this name about before, so we're not setting anything down in stone quite yet. Last month, Toyota said the new fuel cell car would debut in Japan next April and would be priced at about $69,000 before any sort of government incentives kicked in. The company hasn't revealed details about a US release date or pricing here, but indicated that US sales would start where there's already some semblance of a hydrogen-refueling infrastructure. That pretty much means California and nowhere else in the states. The fuel-cell model is said to have a full-tank range of about 435 miles and that the tank can be filled up in about three minutes, similar to a gas-powered vehicle. In other words, the future.

Auto execs surveyed say VW, BMW most likely to grow

Thu, 17 Jan 2013

A new survey of top global automotive executives indicates both Volkswagen and BMW are the most likely to grow their market share over the next five years.
Tax advisory firm KPMG LLP has released its 14th annual Global Automotive Executive Survey, which includes responses from over 200 executives. A total of 81 percent of respondents said they expect to see Volkswagen make gains, compared to 70 percent last year. BMW, meanwhile, saw 70 percent of those surveyed say they believe the company will increase its market share. That's a jump of 7 percentage points over last year. This is the first time in the history of the survey that BMW has claimed the second-place spot.
Meanwhile, Hyundai has seen its perceived market share potential slacken for the third year in a row. Around 61 percent of those surveyed predicted gains for Hyundai, down from 63 in 2012. Toyota also has a surprising year, but for just the opposite reason. While the manufacturer had slipped in ranking since 2011, it enjoyed the largest increase of any company in the 2013 survey, jumping to 68 percent from 44 percent last year.

Vice chronicles Okinawa's illegal street racing scene

Mon, 10 Mar 2014

We all know that street racing is dangerous, and that motorsports are best left on the track or drag strip. However, that doesn't mean that there still isn't some outlaw allure among enthusiasts of racing on public roads. In this video, Vice Japan profiles Eikichi Nagayoshi of Japan's island of Okinawa. He is a used car dealer by day and an illegal racer by night.
Nagayoshi has a deep love for his highly customized Toyota Aristo (better known to us as a first-generation Lexus GS) that he claims produces over 1,000 horsepower and has hit 205 miles per hour. He races his car both on drag strips and in drifting competitions, but says that he often has to ship the car to mainland Japan to compete. In the absence of those opportunities, he sometimes gathers friends and takes the racing to the public roads. While we're not down with street racing, this Vice video is an intriguing personality piece, as well as a look into Japan's fabled underground racing scene. Scroll down to check out the video, but make sure you have the "CC" button clicked, because several portions are subtitled.
