1971 FJ55 Toyota Land Cruiser, 350CI Chevy, 3 speed manual transmission.
This truck has been my daily driver and is all original except engine and front seats.
Has some of the typical rust issues associated with these vehicles (see pictures) but not nearly as bad as most. Rockers and front floor boards are the worst rust, but it is correctable. It is an excellent candidate for restoration or can be kept like it is and used for a daily driver. This is a complete, original truck that has never been painted (No BONDO). All original except engine, radio and front seats.
-Original Blue and White Paint (smurf blue) that still shines with lots of patina.
-Vehicle does NOT have power steering, air conditioning or disc brakes.
-4WD works great in both high and low.
-Original 3 speed transmission shifts fine. Original transfer case works good.
-Chevy 350 is dependable, smooth and does not burn oil. Starts first turn every time. Re-built Quadrajet carb. New thermostat, fuel pump and newer belt.
-All glass intact and in good shape, Rear window gear replaced and works smooth with key or dash switch.
-Newer Interstate Battery.
-General Grabber AT tires with 80% tread on rust-free white wagon wheel rims 31x10.50x15.
-Newer drum brakes with new wheel cylinders. Brakes could use bled and adjusted as it pulls to right a little, but stops well.
-New Aisin clutch master and slave cylinder.
-Selectro locking hubs work smooth. Front wheel bearing have recently been re-packed.
-All lights and turn signals in working order.
-Wipers, horn, and all switches in good working condition.
-H4 headlamp upgrade
-Fuel tank has been removed, cleaned and re-installed. Charcoal canister put back in original condition. Heater core has developed small (minor) leak, and will need to be addressed.
-95% complete FJ55. Missing rear heater, drivers door panel and drivers rear interior panel. Headliner has some rips and will need replaced. Some spare parts.
This truck is not perfect but is a good example of a 43 year old Land Cruiser. For sale AS IS. and I will NOT PART IT OUT.
If you are looking for a FJ55 to restore or drive, this is a great candidate. Cash only and I can not deliver.

2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross vs. small crossover SUVs: How they compare on paper

Fri, Feb 23 2018

In the midst of the crossover SUV boom, each traditional size segment has become saturated. As a result, automakers are beginning to fill the gaps that separate classes, giving us some interesting in-between options. The all-new 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross jumps right into one of those in-between categories bookended by compact and subcompact crossovers. It's a niche that offers more space and feature content than the smallest vehicles, with an extra dose of style and a lower price than bigger ones. Because of the Eclipse Cross' in-between nature, though, there's not really an obvious direct competitor. As such, we've selected a diverse group of small crossovers that are similar to the Eclipse Cross in some but not all key areas: size, price, feature content, style and likely buyers. The 2018 Subaru Crosstrek, 2018 Toyota C-HR and 2018 Nissan Rogue Sport each have elements in common, but are different enough to provide useful points of comparison. A chart of specifications and key standard features is shown below, followed by more in-depth analysis. And if you wish to compare these crossovers with others not listed, be sure to check out our comparison tools. Engines and Drivetrains One of the Eclipse Cross' biggest advantages in this segment will be its engine. Subcompact crossovers, including the other three we've chosen, are sluggish to say the least. This new Mitsubishi should be different as it packs a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder that belts out a whopping 184 pound-feet of torque. We say whopping, because the C-HR, Crosstrek and Rogue Sport all have between 139 and 147 pound-feet. Horsepower is similarly unimpressive at just 152 horsepower - the same as the Crosstrek - but that torque should make passing and on-ramp runs much more satisfying. The appeal of crossovers for many people is the availability of all-wheel-drive, and this is where the Subaru gets an advantage. Like with all Subarus that aren't a BRZ, the Crosstrek has standard all-wheel drive. The Mitsubishi comes close, making all-wheel drive standard on every trim level except the very base ES trim level. On the Rogue Sport, all-wheel drive is an option on all trim levels. Depending on where you live, though, being able to have front drive on a high-trim crossover could be a plus because it will save some money and improve fuel economy. The C-HR loses this battle as it's only available with front-wheel drive.

Toyota mulling more Tundra, Tacoma capacity in TX

Tue, 17 Dec 2013

Toyota may be expanding its pickup truck production at its San Antonio, TX factory following calls from dealers for more Tacoma and Tundra models, according to a new report from Automotive News.
The San Antonio plant is currently able to produce 250,000 trucks on two shifts with overtime, while a secondary facility in Tijuana, Mexico can build an extra 50,000 Tacomas. Despite this capacity, and the fact that Tundra is a slow seller relative to the full-size trucks from Ford, Ram and Chevrolet/GMC (not to mention the Tacoma being part of a segment with diminishing sales), Toyota franchisees apparently can't get enough of the trucks.
"Dealers are telling us they could sell more Tacomas and Tundras," said Bill Fay, the general manager of the Toyota Division. "We are evaluating our footprint and capacity." According to AN, Toyota has moved over 248,000 trucks through November.

Old Toyota Camry Hybrid batteries find new life in Yellowstone

Fri, Jun 6 2014

Beginning this fall, used hybrid batteries that would otherwise be recycled will get a second life in Yellowstone National Park. 208 nickel-metal hydride batteries are being retired from the Toyota Camry Hybrids they once helped power and will become part of an off-the-grid energy system at Yellowstone's remote Lamar Buffalo Ranch field campus. The Lamar campus provides field seminars and other education and research in the northeastern corner of the park. The energy stored in the battery packs will come from solar panels and micro-hydro turbines. The total storage capacity of the batteries is 85 kWh, which is sufficient to provide plenty of emissions-free power to the five buildings at the field campus. Toyota says this program essentially doubles the life of the batteries that are no longer suitable for driving. It's great to see the batteries get another life cycle before recycling, especially in a place where wild animals easily outnumbers the cars. The battery project is part of a larger partnership between Toyota and Yellowstone. Toyota has previously donated a RAV4 and $50,000 to support sustainability projects at the park. In addition to the energy system being implemented at the Lamar Buffalo Ranch, Toyota has taken part in similar energy projects. Beginning last year, Toyota dealers in Japan have been using hybrid batteries for power storage. Also, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Alabama is testing a system to use hybrid batteries to power operations and for emergency backup power. Learn more in the press release from Toyota below. Buffalo and Bears and Batteries – Oh My! Toyota Brings Power to Yellowstone National Park June 04, 2014 Yellowstone...Where the Deer and the Antelope and the Prius Play Torrance, Calif. (June 4, 2014) – The nation's oldest National Park is ready for some new power. Toyota Camry hybrid batteries will soon power the Lamar Buffalo Ranch field campus in Yellowstone National Park. It's a new lease on life for the batteries and new, zero emission, energy option for the Park. Now that's a "bear-able" solution! The stationary distributed energy system will feature 208 used Camry Hybrid nickel-metal hydride battery packs and a total storage capacity of 85 kWh, more than enough pluck to power the five buildings on the Ranch field campus.
