1967 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER FJ45LV
This Land Cruiser is a true barn find survivor. 1967 was the very last year for Toyota to keep these in production until they were replaced by the FJ55. The "L" Stands for Left Hand Drive and the "V" stands for Van. There were only an estimated 500-600 of these important into the United States from Japan, it's unknown how many of these are still alive today. Mileage is extremely low at 90,210. These were the changes made in 1967 before they went out of production: - The basics: 1 1/2 ” brow - 1 1/2 ” brow above windshield - Corner mounted sun visors - Improved drainage for cowl vent (late 1967) - Move VIN to passenger fender - New weather stripping w/ plastic (steel reinforced) bead - Improved venting for gas tank (late 1967) WHY ARE WE SELLING IT? It's never easy is it? Due to health complications and the cost of medical bills the owner is forced with the decision to sell one of his most prized possessions. Knowing that we know Land Cruisers he consulted with us to make sure that it gets in the right hands at the right price as efficiently as possible. He knows these things go for upwards of $40k and up but there is little time to clean her up and sell her let alone just drive her around time to enjoy. It's truly his loss and your gain. This Land Cruiser is a perfect candidate for someone who wants to do a full restoration or just simply wants to driver her around. DRIVETRAIN: She has the factory built 3.9L Inline 6. Producing roughly 125HP, she wasn't a power house but this was plenty sufficient in 1967 and had enough torque to take on the heaviest trails. She runs like a well oiled machine and doesn't miss a bit sitting at the light. I would drive this truck another million miles with this engine. The transmission is manual 3 speed gear box DRIVABILITY: Anywhere! I would jump in this thing right now and drive her to Cali for a surf trip! for a 40 plus year old vehicle she drives and runs amazing. She purrs like a kitten and drives down the road straight. The clutch is firm and so easy to use even a teenager could learn how to drive it. Every gear slides in perfectly and as it should without grinding. The suspension has been replaced with a 2" lift from Old Man Emu. This kit has been the staple for lifting Land Cruisers for many years and is highly respected among the Land Cruiser community. She rides better than factory and is more than capable of taking her to some light trails for a light off-roading. Brakes do need some pumping every once in a while to keep up the pressure. BODY EXTERIOR: There were many rust concerns when these vehicles were first introduced and Toyota improved their drainage system 1967 to help in preventing any of those issues from developing. Fortunately this 45LV is a fighter! Only a few small rust pockets and some surface rust found their way onto this truck and everything is completely repairable if needed. The floor boards are in great shape, the drip rails are in great shape and many of the areas where rust should be is non-existent. At one point in this trucks life it was painted the two tone Orange and White, though these trucks came from the factory two toned we don't know at this time whether or not that was the factory color or not. The paint job appears to be over a decade old and could even pass for original to an untrained eye. INTERIOR: The interior is like a time capsule, untouched it's entire life. The door panels are tattered and the the steering wheel is smooth from the hands of it's owners. It's dusty and needs a quick swipe of a rag to clean her up. She has a couple tears in the seats and the headliner is sagging a bit but aside from that it's in great shape for the shape she's in! Just a few hours cleaning things up and your spouse might ask to go for a ride! From the factory these truck came with a factory Air Conditioning unit under the dash and believe it or not she still blows cold! We've seen a lot of Land Cruisers and a working, operational A/C is even more rare! Please message us for additional pictures! On Jun-06-14 at 16:26:57 PDT, seller added the following information: OOOPS! I made a mistake and stated that the A/C was factory and it is in fact not factory. It is in fact an aftermarket unit, sorry for the misinformation. |

Toyota to buck engine downsizing trend, may go larger and turbo-free
Mon, 14 Oct 2013Turbocharging isn't really Toyota's specialty, and the Japanese automaker isn't being shy about acknowledging it. Koei Saga, a senior managing officer in charge of drivetrain research and development, says that eschewing turbos and increasing displacement of engines using the Atkinson cycle can produce better power gains without sacrificing fuel economy, Automotive News reports.
Toyota is investing heavily in larger-displacement Atkinson-cycle engines in addition to turbocharged engines, but Saga doesn't think the automaker will use turbocharging across many product lines. He apparently remains unconvinced that the technology "makes the world better."
In Toyota's eyes then, Atkinson cycle engines do make the world better, and here's how. Their pistons complete four processes - intake, compression, power and exhaust - in one revolution of the crankshaft, and the power stroke is longer than the compression stroke. Traditional Otto cycle engines require two crankshaft revolutions to accomplish those same four operations and have equal-length compression and power strokes. Atkinson cycle engines are more efficient, but less power dense, though increasing displacement can offset that shortfall.
BMW i5 could get Toyota-sourced hydrogen power
Tue, 18 Nov 2014It's starting to feel like the automotive landscape is right on the cusp of a boom in hydrogen-fueled vehicles. After all, the Toyota FCV is nearly ready, Volkswagen is readying a fuel cell concept for this week's Los Angeles Auto Show and Hyundai already sells its Tucson Fuel Cell. The next big name to add to that list might be BMW, as the company's co-development deal with Toyota starts to bear fruit.
According to Autocar, BMW may use a version of the fuel cell system from the Toyota FCV in the future i5. As part of its eco-oriented i sub-brand, the i5 is expected to be a stretched version of the i3 (pictured above) with extra rear legroom and cargo space. It's unclear at the moment whether a battery-powered pure electric powertrain will also be available. If accurate, then the rumor could give the Bavarian brand a counterattack against Mercedes-Benz' planned fuel cell vehicle in 2017.
BMW and Toyota first signed the memorandum of understanding to co-develop fuel cells, lightweight technology and a sports car back in 2012, and they made the arrangement official in late 2013. So far, few details on the progress of the work have been disclosed, but the performance model has been rumored to use a front-engine, all-wheel drive layout with supercapacitors.
Toyota announces two recalls affecting 1M Corolla, Matrix and Lexus IS models
Wed, 30 Jan 2013The recall bug strikes Toyota again. The automaker has issued a voluntary recall of three models that, in total, represent more than one million units. Around 752,000 2003-2004 Toyota Corolla and Matrix models are being recalled for airbag concerns, while a windshield wiper issue is causing the recall for close to 270,000 Lexus IS sedans from the 2006-2012 model years.
Completely unrelated to the small airbag-related recall issued earlier in the week, the Corolla and Matrix recall is caused by a faulty airbag control module that could potentially short circuit, which could lead to the front airbags or seat belt pretensioners deploying. The Lexus recall is due to a wiper arm nut that wasn't tightened properly, which can cause the wipers to not work when trying to clear heavy buildup such as snow.
