this is a sweet truck i built it 2 years ago and am now moving and need to sell. yes this truck is has a 1986 mercedes benz om617 5 cylinder diesel engine in it. the conversion was done with a professionally made adapter plate. it has a 2-3 inch old man emue spring lift. a 3 inch body lift. goodyear kevlar wangler 33x12.5 in tires with less than 5000 miles on them. awesome tires and very low road noise. it has a fours speed manual tranmission  the body was sandblasted and then rhyno linned everywhere on the exterior. there was some fender rust in the rear repaired before this was done. i want to be as honest as i can about the truck. i love this truck and drive it every day. its top speed is about 75. i drive it comfortably on the high way at 65. it gets about 15-18 mpg. it has straight pipe on it thats 3 inches. it not really loud but it is also not quiet. you can really hear the turbo spool. when driving on highway in hills it wont stay at 65 55 in third all day but not 65 in fourth. there is no frame rest except behind rear tires. its behind where the rear leaf springs attach. there is a few inches where you can see through the frame in the middle. i did not have this fixed because it is behind where the frame is doing anything.
please look at the pictures and feel free to call me with any questions. 574 453 1447 i am a huge mercedes diesel fan and have owned 25+ the motor that was installed is a a 1986 that had 160,000 miles in it when installed. it has excellent compression. it has monarch fuel injectors installed.
two sets of differentials this is the complete third member. right now i have a 4.11 in the rear and a 3.73 in the front. and no i dont ever use 4x4 this way. it is easy to swap rear back out to 3.73 which i do in winter. and for light offroading i have done in the truck. the 4.11 is better for on road driving in 2 high. you cant do whatever you want.
one last thing. if below 25 or so at night truck has a hard time starting. not because the glow plugs are bad but because the toyota starter doesnt have same torque as mercedes one. it does have a block heater and it will start in negative 10 as cold as it got here, without a problem. if this is a big issue you can install a mean green starter which will solve the problem.

also included in the auction if you want it. you do not have to take but you can if you want.
extra 1986 om617 complete motor for parts or whatever.
intercooler and piping for hook up
california style intake manifold which makes installing inter cooler easy. i have done same swap on a toyota truck. and inter cooler helped with power on highway.
extra top rear hatch  frame. with window installed
box of extra lights for most on truck
extra front grill
and whatever i am forgetting

this is a no reserve auction

Honda, Nissan, and Toyota expand Takata recall by millions worldwide

Wed, May 13 2015

Honda, Nissan, and Toyota are expanding their global Takata airbag inflator recalls to cover millions of additional vehicles. Toyota alone is adding about 5 million vehicles to its campaign globally, and over 600,000 of those are in the US, according to Automotive News. Nissan's expansion includes an estimated 1.56 million cars worldwide, including about 326,000 in North America, but the exact models from the company are not yet known. According to Automotive News, Honda has also announced plans to increase the scope of its campaign but hasn't yet disclosed specific models, total numbers, or their location. Company spokesperson Chris Martin tells Autoblog that none of these vehicles are in the US, though. In the US, Toyota is replacing the driver's side front inflators on 160,000 examples of the 2004 and 2005 RAV4 nationwide. It's also swapping out the front passenger side parts for 177,000 units of the 2003 and 2004 Tundra (pictured above) and 2004 Sequoia. The automaker is also expanding its regional recalls in high-humidity areas to include the passenger-side inflators of 300,000 more vehicles. In total, the affected models are 2005-2007 model-year Corolla, Matrix, Sequoia, and Lexus SC; plus the 2005-2006 Tundra is included, as well. All of the states that are covered by this campaign are listed in Toyota's announcement, below. In a statement to Autoblog, Nissan said that it's currently working with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on this campaign. "We expect to have a more formal statement and additional information by Friday, May 15," the company said. TOYOTA EXPANDS TAKATA AIRBAG SAFETY RECALLS TORRANCE, Calif., May 12, 2015 – Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. today announced that it is expanding its recalls involving Takata air bag inflators. First, Toyota will conduct a recall to replace Takata-supplied driver front airbag inflators on approximately 160,000 model year 2004 and 2005 RAV4 sport utility vehicles. The inflators could potentially be susceptible to rupture when deployed in a crash, increasing the risk of injury to vehicle occupants. For similar reasons, Toyota will expand two existing recalls for Takata-supplied front passenger airbag inflators, namely: Toyota's nationwide recall launched in April 2013 will expand to include approximately an additional 177,000 model year 2003-2004 Tundra and model year 2004 Sequoia vehicles.

2014 Toyota Corolla priced from $16,800*

Tue, 27 Aug 2013

We'll be publishing our First Drive of the 2014 Toyota Corolla later today, but right now, we can reveal that the eleventh-generation compact will be priced from $16,800 when it hits dealerships this fall (*not including a $810 destination charge).
Four trim levels will be offered, and that sub-$17,000 price point reflects the base L grade with a six-speed manual transmission. Adding the four-speed automatic (yep) brings that price up to $17,400, which gets you the usual features standard on this class of car, including Bluetooth connectivity, eight airbags and - a first for this price point - LED headlamps.
From there, the LE trim ($18,300) adds a backup camera, cruise control, keyless entry, Entune audio (including a 6.1-inch touchscreen) and a brand-new continuously variable transmission replacing the four-speed auto. There's even an Eco version of the LE trim that uses a different engine tune to provide fuel economy of up to 42 miles per gallon on the highway.

U.S. and Toyota Reach Settlement Over Safety Problems Disclosure

Wed, Mar 19 2014

The U.S. has reached a $1.2 billion settlement with Toyota Motor Corp., concluding a four-year criminal investigation into the Japanese automaker's disclosure of safety problems, according to a person close to the investigation. Attorney General Eric Holder, Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx and U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Preet Bharara, were announcing the settlement Wednesday morning, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the official was not authorized to discuss the settlement on the record before the announcement. TOP 5Most Researched Green Cars On AOL Autos 2013 Honda Fit EV MSRP : $36,625 2014 Chevrolet Spark EV MSRP : $26,685 2012 Mitsubishi i-MiEV MSRP : $29,125 2012 Ford Focus Electric MSRP : $39,200 2012 Toyota Prius Plug-in MSRP : $32,000 In a statement early Wednesday, Toyota said it has "cooperated with the U.S. Attorney's office in this matter for more than four years" and had "made fundamental changes to become a more responsive and customer-focused organization, and we are committed to continued improvements." The criminal investigation focused on whether Toyota was forthright in reporting problems related to unintended acceleration troubles. Starting in 2009, Toyota issued massive recalls, mostly in the U.S., totaling more than 10 million vehicles for various problems including faulty brakes, gas pedals and floor mats. From 2010 through 2012, Toyota Motor Corp. paid fines totaling more than $66 million for delays in reporting unintended acceleration problems. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration never found defects in electronics or software in Toyota cars, which had been targeted as a possible cause. The settlement continues a string of bad publicity for Toyota, which before the unintended acceleration cases had a bulletproof image of reliability. Since the cases surfaced, the company's brand image has been damaged and it has lost U.S. market share as competition has intensified. Last year, Toyota agreed to pay more than $1 billion to resolve hundreds of lawsuits claiming that owners of its cars suffered economic losses because of the recalls. But that settlement did not include wrongful death and injury lawsuits that have been consolidated in California state and federal courts. In December, Toyota filed court papers after a four-year legal battle saying that it's in settlement talks on nearly 400 U.S. lawsuits, but other cases aren't included in the talks.
