If you are in the market for a beautiful, low mile Toyota Highlander then you need to take a VERY close look at my 2006 model with only 40k original rust free, accident free 1-owner Florida miles! As you know a Toyota with only 40k miles is just broken in so why pay near $30k for a new one! What I like about this one is it has the peppy and economical 4cyl engine that gets 25mpg and is the most dependable engine out there. It has plenty of pep and this engine has NO timing belt to ever replace, which is nice. This one is 2wd so it will also never have any 4wd issues and the tires will last longer as well. This Highlander has a clean Autocheck report showing no accidents or problems and it received a great score of 90 points out of an average rating of between 75-85 points so you know it has a great history. It was bought new right here in Ft.Myers Florida and traded back in by the original owners here in Ft.Myers so it has NEVER been in the harsh winters of the north and it shows. There is NO rust and even the underside still looks new, look at the underside picture I took, very clean. The exterior looks great with no dents, scrapes, fade or rust, just a nice Toyota shine. The tires are matching Bridgestone's with plenty of tread remaining to help give this Highlander a smooth and quiet ride. There is a roof rack and NO hitch so this Toyota has NOT been pulling anything, which is nice. The interior is spotless and in great shape with no stains, rips or odors. The seats are very comfortable and there is plenty of room both front and rear and lot's of storage area in the rear hatch area. All the power options work great including the ice cold air conditioning and cd stereo that sounds nice. What a pleasure to drive, again, smooth and quiet. The engine runs smooth as silk and should with only 40k miles and again will deliver 25mpg. The brakes, suspension and transmission are all nice and smooth just as a well cared for, low mile Toyota should be, no excuses. I have the factory books and three keys with two remotes. Do a Kelly blue book on it and you will see they value it at $13,293 in excellent condition and even $12,800 in good condition so this is your chance to own a VERY clean one with low miles for less. I have great feedback so you can be sure that this vehicle will be just as nice as I am stating. Should you need help with shipping call me, if you decide to fly into Ft.Myers to pick it up in person I will meet you at our local airport right here in town. I know buying a vehicle you haven't driven is a little scary so I try to make it easy as well as fun!! As with all my vehicles, this one was put through a safety check to be sure it is safe and road worthy. This includes an oil change and an inspection of the brakes, belts, hoses, cooling system, fluid levels, etc. It's just one more thing I can do to make this a good experience for you. Well, that's my vehicle! As with all my offerings, you are encouraged to call with any questions @ 239-872-5281. I thank you for your time and good luck bidding!

Honda, Subaru airlifting parts to bypass port labor diputes

Fri, Feb 6 2015

It should be abundantly obvious that a vital element in building cars is actually having the components on hand to assemble them. A labor dispute on the West Coast between the International Longshore and Warehouse Union and management is not making that quite so easy for some Japanese automakers. Work slowdowns at the ports have pushed Honda and Subaru parent Fuji Heavy Industries into flying some parts into the country. The two automakers began shipping by airplane late last month to avoid production delays, according to Bloomberg, but it has been an expensive solution. Subaru's chief financial officer said the decision cost around $60 million more per month than sending components by cargo ship. They aren't the only companies dealing with the problem, either. Toyota reportedly stopped overtime assembly at some of its factories here because of the delays in getting parts, according to Bloomberg. The dockworkers have been negotiating on a new contract since May 2014, and the current offer on the table to them has offered a 3 percent raise, according to Bloomberg. Although, the union is reportedly considering another slowdown at 29 ports along the West Coast in the coming days. 24 Hours of Le Mans live update part two

Sun, Jun 19 2016

We tasked surfing journalist Rory Parker to watch this year's live stream of the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans. What follows is an experiment to experience the world's greatest endurance race from the perspective of a motorsports novice. Parker lives in Hawaii and can hold his breath longer than he can go without swearing. For Part One, click here. Or you can skip ahead to Part Three here. I write about surfing for a living. If you can call it a living. Basically means I spend my days fucking around and my wife pays for everything. Because she's got a real job that pays well. Brings home the bacon. Very progressive arrangement. Super twenty first century. I run a surf website, beachgrit.com, with two other guys. It's a strange gig. More or less uncensored. Kind of popular. Very good at alienating advertisers. My behavior has cost us a few bucks. I'm terrible at self-censorship. Know there's a line out there, no idea where it lies. I still don't understand any of the technical side. Might as well be astrophysics or something. For contests I do long rambling write ups. They rarely make much sense. Mainly just talk about my life, whatever random thoughts pop into my head. "Can you do something similar for Le Mans?" "Sure, but I know absolutely fuck-all about racing." "That's okay. Just write what you want." "Will do. But you're gonna need to edit my stuff. Probably censor it heavily." So here I am. I spent the last week trying to learn all I can about the sport of endurance racing. But there's only so much you can jam in your head. And I still don't understand any of the technical side. Might as well be astrophysics or something. While I rambled things were happening. Tracy Krohn spun into the gravel on the Forza chicane. #89 is out of the race after an accident I missed. Pegasus racing hit the wall on the Porsche curves. Bashed up front end, in the garage getting fixed. Toyota and Porsche are swapping back and forth in the front three. Ford back in the lead in GTE Pro. #91 Porsche took a stone through the radiator, down two laps. Not good. The wife and I are one of those weird childless couples that spend way too much time caring for the needs of their pet. French bulldog, Mr Eugene Victor Debs. Great little guy. Spent the last four years training him to be obedient and friendly. Nice thing about dogs, when you're sick of dealing with them you can just lock 'em in another room for a few hours. You don't need to worry about paying for college.

Toyota amalgamates motorsports divisions under Gazoo Racing

Fri, Apr 10 2015

Toyota has more racing divisions than we could wave a checkered flag at, with the company's various motorsport activities all coordinated by different operations. But the Japanese industrial giant is now bringing most (if not all) of them under one roof. From here on in, any racing that was done under the Toyota Racing, Lexus Racing or Gazoo Racing banners will now be united under the latter. That includes the LFAs it races around the Nurburgring, the TS040 Hybrid it fields at Le Mans and in the World Endurance Championship, the Yaris it will soon throw at the World Rally Championship, the Lexus racers that compete in the Super GT championship back in Japan... the works. The move does not appear to affect Toyota Racing Development, the automaker's American arm that handles its NASCAR racing activities, but from here on out, any Toyota or Lexus you see racing on most anything but a speedway will be competing under Gazoo Racing. The move appears to be more than symbolic and semantic, putting its racing vehicle development, technical support and marketing activities in the hands of the new Motor Sports Group. In announcing the consolidation, Toyota highlights in particular the benefit its various racing programs bring to its talent pool, if not the direct effect they have on the company's vehicles themselves. Toyota Racing, Lexus Racing and GAZOO Racing Unite Under GAZOO Racing Toyota City, Japan, April 9, 2015-Starting April 11, Toyota will unite all motorsports activities under GAZOO Racing. The move will clarify the role of Toyota's motorsports in its efforts to make ever-better cars and foster new generations of car enthusiasts. Until now, Toyota has participated in competitions around the world-including the World Endurance Championship (WEC), the Super GT in Japan, and the Nurburgring 24 Hours endurance race-through the separate Toyota Racing, Lexus Racing and GAZOO Racing teams. Of those, GAZOO Racing in particular was created to expand the role of promoting motorsports beyond that of traditional automakers, and carry out grassroots activities aimed at creating new and ever-growing generations of car enthusiasts. Concerning today's announcement, Toyota President Akio Toyoda said: "Our founder Kiichiro Toyoda once said that motorsports are vital to the evolution of car making and the entire auto industry.
