Fj40 Toyota on 2040-cars
Eden, Utah, United States
1974 Toyota FJ40. This FJ40 runs very good. It has the original engine that runs smoothly, with no unusual exhaust smoke, or unusual sounds. The transmission shifts smoothly and all of the gears work as they should. The brakes work properly, and the tires are in very good condition. You can fly into Salt Lake City and drive this FJ40 anywhere. Please look closely at all of the photos. I want to be sure the new owner knows exactly what they are buying. The reserve is low and I have a clear Utah title. In addition, there are most of the parts for a PTO (Power Take Off). This FJ40 can be used as it stands, but it is not a show quality vehicle. It would not take a lot to restore it. If you want a show quality FJ40, this is a good place to start.
I want the FJ40 to be fully and completely described. With this in mind, I will go over all of the problem areas in detail. 1. There is old bondo in the rear fenders and in the rockers. Again, please look closely at the photos. I have taken photos of the floors from underneath and from inside. The back floor looks like new and all of the floors are dry and rust free. 2. The interior has splits in the seats, and one of the rear jump seats are missing. In addition, the dash pad is missing. 3. The top has an aftermarket sun roof. It works as it was designed, but is not original to the FJ40. 4. Some of the exterior badges are missing. These badges are available on Ebay and in aftermarket catalogs, but they are expensive. 5. In the lower part of the windshield, there is an aftermarket piece of chrome trim covering an old vent. If you have any questions, please give me a call. My phone number is (801) 745-5835. I'm not a dealer, and I will gladly outline the condition of the FJ40. A $500. deposit is required within 24 hours of the auction closing, unless other arrangements are made before the close of the auction. If you have less than 5 positive feedbacks in your Ebay feedback score, please email or call me before bidding. I want this to be a good, straightforward, auction. Good luck bidding. |

Does Scion's LA concept presage a US Auris?
Tue, 28 Oct 2014When the doors open at the LA Auto Show in a few weeks, Scion will be on hand to showcase its new iM Concept. But considering what little Toyota's youthful brand has revealed about the concept so far, it's led to rampant speculation. And the prevailing wisdom seems to point towards a production iM arriving as a Scion-badged version of the Toyota Auris.
For those unfamiliar, the Auris is to European (and other) markets essentially what the Matrix is (was?) to ours: a hatchback version of the Corolla. The model line was first introduced in 2006, looking in its first iteration like an overgrown version of the contemporary second-gen Yaris, and was replaced with the current model in 2012. It's available as a five-door hatch or wagon, with a range of gasoline, diesel and hybrid powertrains available.
If the rumors - spurred by the similarity of the iM concept's nose depicted in the teasers - prove accurate, and public reception to the idea ends up spurring Toyota to put it into action, it wouldn't be the first overseas Toyota brought over as a Scion. The Scion iQ was sold as the Toyota iQ overseas years before it arrived here.
Toyota reaches $1.2B unintended acceleration settlement in criminal probe
Wed, 19 Mar 2014UPDATE: Just like that, Toyota has released an official statement confirming its $1.2-million dollar settlement with the US Attorney's Office. Our story has been updated to reflect this development and the automaker's official statement has been added below.
Toyota has reached a settlement over the criminal probe into its unintended acceleration problems, and the outcome is more expensive than first expected. The Japanese automaker has agreed to pay $1.2 billion to close the investigation among other settlement terms. The criminal inquiry focused on whether the company kept information from regulators and how it handled drivers' complaints about the problems, according to the sources.
Between 2009 and 2010, Toyota ended up recalling over 10 million vehicles worldwide over sudden acceleration fears. Fixes include modifying floor mats, gas pedals, and installing brake override software on affected models. In addition, Toyota made the latter standard on all of its new vehicles.
Toyota recalls 690,000 Tacoma trucks for rusty leaf springs, fire risk
Mon, 29 Sep 2014Toyota has announced that it will be issuing a recall of 690,000 Tacoma pickups from model years 2005 through 2011. The affected vehicles include both the four-wheel-drive model and the two-wheel-drive PreRunner (but not the standard 4x2 pickups), which may have a rather serious problem with their rear suspensions.
In some cases, corrosion and stress could cause one of the three or four leaves in the rear suspension's leaf springs to fracture. While the trucks can still be driven with a broken leaf, Toyota is concerned that it could move out of position and impact other components in the rear of the truck, with a particular focus on the fuel tank. Needless to say, but a piece of metal continuously impacting anything, let alone the fuel tank, is cause for concern.
As of this writing, there have been no reports of crashes, injuries, fires or deaths due to this problem, although that won't stop Toyota from informing all affected customers of the issue. Those 690,000 owners will need to report in to dealers for inspections and, if necessary, repairs.
