1984 Toyota Fj60, Cummins Powered Project, Rustfree California Body on 2040-cars
Virginia Beach, Virginia, United States
Just picked this up as an unfinished project and not sure i'll have the time or funds to complete it so, I figure I'll offer it up here and let someone else take advantage of it. Has 170k on the body. This truck spent life in California until 2006 and was parked in Va. in 07 for the swap that just never got completed. Has a 2002 ISB 3.9 common rail Cummins that was said to only have a couple hundred hours along with an NV4500 in place with the stock t-case already all bolted in. It will run although it is still a ways from being completed and driveable. Plenty of little stuff left to do. The body is completely rust free. It has OME springs and shackles. There are many parts inside including stock radiator, brand new intercooler, grille, etc. The only body damage to speak of are some scuffs on the right rear quarter panel. Again, this is still a project but most of the hard work has been done and the big money has already been spent. It is located in Virginia beach, Va, and I will work with your shipper if necessary. Feel free to call with questions or additional pics 757-831-4583... APARENTLY,IN ANTICIPATION OF THE CONVERSION THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD THE FUEL TYPE ALREADY CHANGED TO DIESEL ON THE TITLE... THIS MAY BE VERY IMPORTANT TO THE BUYER DEPENDING ON WHAT STATE YOU LIVE IN SOLD AS-IS WHERE IS..... PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SCHEDULE A VIEWING BEFORE BIDDING IF YOU HAVE ANY CONCERNS.....YOUR BID IS A CONTRACT VERY LOW RESERVE FOR WHAT THIS IS AND WILL BE WHEN DONE.... IVE SEEN JUST THESE ENGINES ALONE SELL FOR JUST UNDER MY RESERVE IS SET AT......BID TO WIN! |

Toyota casts off in Ponam-31 motor yacht [w/video]
Sun, 12 Oct 2014Some Japanese automakers focus purely on cars, while others dabble in all sorts of motorized transportation. Honda, for example, makes everything from motorbikes to jet aircraft. But while Toyota may be known principally for automobiles, it also makes a line of boats. And this is the latest.
The new Toyota Ponam-31 motor yacht is built around an aluminum hull with a flybridge and cockpit rear deck layout, similar to the Carver 32 on which this writer spent his childhood summers. It measures 31 feet overall and is powered by a pair of 3.0-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder engines derived from the Land Cruiser Prado (known in these parts as the Lexus GX 460) but marinized for nautical application. Toyota has even equipped its new Sports Utility Cruiser with such features as Drive Assist and a Virtual Anchor System.
Toyota expects to sell around 15 units of the Ponam-31 through its network of 49 dealers across Japan, with prices starting at 29,700,000 yen (about $27,500 at today's conversion rates). Scroll down below for a video, along with a press release, meant to show potential customers what's waiting for them.
Lightweight Toyota GT86 spotted on Nordschleife with carbon panels, upgraded aero
Tue, 24 Jun 2014We've seen (and frankly reported on) so many rumors of more powerful and performance-focused versions of the Subaru BRZ, Toyota GT86 and Scion FR-S at this point that haven't materialized that, at this point, we're almost tired of them. Almost. But what we have here was enough to pique our jaded interests as only a carbon-bodied sports car on the Nürburgring could do.
What we're looking at is, well, we don't quite know, to tell you the truth. What we can tell is that it's a Toyota GT86 (Scion FR-S for us) wearing new wheels and a carbon-fiber hood, roof, racing-spec rear wing and subtle lip spoiler. The vents in the hood indicate that the prototype in question could be packing an upgraded engine to go with the lighter body panels and upgraded aero, and the interior (at least as far as we can see) looks pretty well stripped out.
The right-hand drive configuration tells us this is either destined for former territories of the British Empire or for the racetrack. Considering the ride height, full glass and apparent lack of roll cage, our money's on this prototype is being developed for the Japanese Domestic Market, where Toyota badges the sports car simply as the 86. We can always hope, though, that some version makes it into Scion showrooms in North America... we just won't get our hopes up too high.
Vice chronicles Okinawa's illegal street racing scene
Mon, 10 Mar 2014We all know that street racing is dangerous, and that motorsports are best left on the track or drag strip. However, that doesn't mean that there still isn't some outlaw allure among enthusiasts of racing on public roads. In this video, Vice Japan profiles Eikichi Nagayoshi of Japan's island of Okinawa. He is a used car dealer by day and an illegal racer by night.
Nagayoshi has a deep love for his highly customized Toyota Aristo (better known to us as a first-generation Lexus GS) that he claims produces over 1,000 horsepower and has hit 205 miles per hour. He races his car both on drag strips and in drifting competitions, but says that he often has to ship the car to mainland Japan to compete. In the absence of those opportunities, he sometimes gathers friends and takes the racing to the public roads. While we're not down with street racing, this Vice video is an intriguing personality piece, as well as a look into Japan's fabled underground racing scene. Scroll down to check out the video, but make sure you have the "CC" button clicked, because several portions are subtitled.
