1975 Toyota Land Cruiser Fj40 on 2040-cars
Torrance, California, United States
1975 Toyota Land Cruiser ~ 22, 683 Original miles ! Fantastic original Model. ~ Original Paint \ Top \ Interior
No rust, no major damage. This is the first year that had the swing out ( left\right) rear doors. My father bought this new in 1975, I remember a couple trips to Gorman, CA with him and he took it to Yosemite one time. Has been kept in his garage all these years. Due to illness he did not take it on trips anymore but kept it garaged and would faithfully start it and run it\drive it around the neighborhood. I put a new battery in it and still runs good around the neighborhood like it always has, but with that said it could probably use a tune up. I'm older myself and no longer need this super cool 4wd machine. I have everything, toolkit, manuals, all parts for the winch, etc. No rust, no major damage, some scratches due to normal minimal use. Headliner has come unglued, temporary hold in place. Small tear in driver seat. Storage box between seats has a small tear and covered with gray tape. Dad put some extras on it and here is what I see...... Extras: Sliding side glass windows \ Warn winch 8200 series; model 6014 \ Front bumper tool boxes \ Rear toolboxes under jump seats ( these slide out if you don't want them inside) \ Extra\External gas tank ( think 20 gallons?) CB radio and 8 track player, a 70s car right ! Unfortunately i can not get them to work but they are there. These are on a shelf above the windshield. CB radio ready ball on exterior\ driver side. Sissy handle bar for the passenger. A compass on the dash, a silver maplight he had mounted on the dash but another item i can't get to work, (fuse?) 2 fire extinguishers mounted on the roll bars inside and a first aid kit ! A front tow bar but i can not remember him towing it anywhere. The pictures included were taken with my iphone 4s... please email me with any questions, i can get more pictures, i can describe more, we can talk on the phone, etc. It is in the garage now in Torrance, CA ( i'm not far, down the freeway) Buyer pays and arranges all shipping costs. Please do not bid if you do not intend to purchase. Would love to have someone get this who would love it as much as my father did. NOTE: I removed the old spare tire cover in some on the pictures, it is not included. I also switched out Dad's personal license plate and changed the title to my name \ Son at the DMV. Thanks ! |

Sports 800 is a progenitor of Toyota performance
Tue, 18 Nov 2014There's an automotive axiom that claims it's more fun to drive a slow car fast, than a fast car slow. If that's the case, then pushing a Toyota Sports 800 around must be one of the most exhilarating experiences behind the wheel in the world. With just 800cc of displacement from a two-cylinder boxer engine, the focus is on finesse over outright speed. Still, it's a fantastic page in Toyota's performance history, and Petrolicious takes a ride with a man who owns a meticulously restored 1967 example in its latest video.
The Sports 800 used the classic cost-saving strategy in the auto industry of taking parts from a standard model in the lineup and modifying it into a sports car. In this case that meant borrowing the engine from the plebian Toyota Publica, beefing it up for more power and clothing the whole thing a in beautifully shaped, wind-tunnel-honed body.
The look of these lithe, targa roadsters is the exact opposite of the rather dull styling sometimes associated with Toyota today. Everywhere you look there are louvers, vents or curves to draw the eye. Check out the latest Petrolicious video for a detailed look at the history of this rare model that's largely unknown on this side of the Pacific.
Toyota's production fuel cell car to cost between $50-100k
Fri, 03 May 2013
While the cost of building a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle continues to go down over time, reports over the last few years have steadily maintained that the first Toyota hydrogen-powered vehicles for customers should ring up for around $50,000. Company officials cited this figure way back in 2010, and have reiterated it in subsequent years.
So, while a recent Automotive News report about the cost of Toyota's 2015 Hydrogen car doesn't offer up any new figures, it does offer an interesting pricing wrinkle. According to the report, the "cost factor" for the hydrogen vehicles will be in the $50k ballpark, meaning the retail price could be anywhere from there, up to as much as around $100,000.
Andrew Gilleland is new VP of Scion, Murtha moves to Toyota
Fri, Sep 25 2015Scion is getting some fresh blood at the top as Andrew Gilleland (pictured above) becomes the new vice president to take over for Doug Murtha. Gilleland is no stranger to the division, and served as the national field operations manager early in the brand's launch. Murtha moves to take leadership of corporate strategy and planning for Toyota in North America. "Now it's Andrew's charge to spread the message of the style and value of the iM and iA, as well as a third new vehicle that will be added to the lineup," Toyota division group vice president Bill Fay said in the announcement. Gilleland moves up from being general manager of Toyota's central Atlantic regional office. He takes the reins at Scion at a potential turning point for the division. Sales volume for the year through August is down 22.1 percent to 32,691 vehicles, but some big changes are afoot. The long-lived xB is likely about to bow out, and the brand is launching two new products with the iM and iA. They're getting some celebrity advertising, too. Spy shots also suggest the FR-S might get a refresh soon. Plus, the third model Fay teases is expected to be a compact crossover, possibly with styling inspiration from the Toyota C-HR concept. Scion could get a big boost by having an entry in that booming segment. New Products, Previous Player - Scion Introduces New Vice President Andrew Gilleland Returns to Youth Brand September 24, 2015 TORRANCE, Calif. (Sept. 24, 2015) – In the early days of Scion, when xAs and xBs were flying out of dealers' showrooms, Andrew Gilleland was the National Field Operations Manager for the youth brand. He was responsible for working with dealers to ensure they embraced the new products and processes Scion offered. Now, Scion is entering its teen years, and Gilleland is back as Vice President of Scion, once again encouraging dealers to sell its new models and investigate new methods to attract young buyers. "Scion has sold nearly a million vehicles since I left in 2005 and I'm excited to be back leading this team," said Gilleland. "The iM 5-door hatchback and iA sports sedan arrived at dealerships earlier this month and the response has been great.
