2012 Toyota Corolla on 2040-cars
Houston, Texas, United States
I bought this vehicle as a second vehicle for our family, but we can really get by on one, and I certainly wouldn't mind having the cash.
This Corolla is in excellent shape. Cosmetically (interior), I'd rate it an 8.5/10. I use the car, so it's not completely spotless, but it's very clean and there are no rips in the fabric or broken pieces. Cosmetically (exterior), I'd rate it an 8/10. It has a couple light scratch marks on the back bumper, as well as the front bumper, that were there when I bought it. Nothing indicating an accident. Just a quick scrape on the garage doorframe maybe. Mechanically, I'd rate this a 9.5/10. I hesitate to say 10/10, just because I find that unbelievable when I read ads. But there is absolutely nothing wrong with this car mechanically. It's in great shape, with only 26,000 miles on it. I just had the oil changed at the 3,500 mile increment. I will be more than happy to take the vehicle to my mechanic for a "buyer's inspection," at your expense. If you opt for this, I guarantee they'll find nothing wrong. The only possible thing the car could need is a balance/rotate for the tires. That's it. If you are serious about it, I don't mind sending you the VIN as well. It's excellent on gas, in really great shape, and I'm offering it well below the Kelly Blue Book suggested price. This is a no-brainer. Perfect for: a daily driver, a graduation gift upgrade, students, and anyone who wants an incredibly reliable car that will perform well and be economical to maintain. If you're local, please feel free to come take a look at the car in person. I work odd hours, so just send me a message to set up an appointment. I'll be using the car sparingly in the coming weeks, so mileage will go up a little. I've bought vehicles online, and I've had some good experiences, but I've also been burned. I'll do everything I can to help you buy confidently and make things as smooth as possible. Thanks for your time and interest. |

Toyota highlights JDM Mark X with special Yellow Label edition
Fri, 05 Sep 2014Never heard of the Toyota Mark X? That's because the Japanese automaker only sells it in its home market (and in China as the Reiz). It's a rear-drive (or all-wheel-drive) sports sedan about the size of a Lexus IS, whose existence is probably why Toyota will never bring the Mark X to North America. The current model has been on the market since 2009, but Toyota is rolling out a series of updates - including the new Yellow Label model pictured here.
Available on the 250G, 250G Four and 250G S trim levels, the Yellow Label gets a special shade of Awaken Yellow paint (though it can be had in black, white or silver as well), with an interior decked out in either yellow or black. It also gets piano lacquer trim, yellow stitching, pink gold accents, special tread plates and other interior equipment upgrades, as well as a unique set of alloys. All of which makes the Toyota Mark X Yellow Label perfect for recreating scenes from Kill Bill without the need to squeeze into yellow leathers. (In fact we wouldn't be surprised to see Toyota doing just that for a promo clip.)
Power comes from a 2.5-liter V6 (and not the larger 3.5 available on the 350S model) channeled through a six-speed automatic to either the rear wheels or all four. Pricing ranges between 2.8 and 3.1 million yen (~$26-30k), representing a premium of about 106k yen ($1k) over non-yellow models. Toyota operates four distinct dealer networks in Japan, and the Mark X is sold through Toyopet stores.
Japan could consolidate to three automakers by 2020
Thu, Feb 11 2016Sergio Marchionne might see his dream of big mergers in the auto industry become a reality, and an analyst thinks Japan is a likely place for consolidation to happen. Takaki Nakanishi from Jefferies Group LLC tells Bloomberg the country's car market could combine to just three or fewer major players by 2020, from seven today. "To have one or two carmakers in a country is not only natural, but also helpful to their competitiveness," Nakanishi told Bloomberg. "Japan has just too many and the resources have been too spread out. It's a natural trend to consolidate and reduce some of the wasted resources." Nakanishi's argument echoes Marchionne's reasons to push for a merger between FCA and General Motors. Automakers spend billions on research and development, but their competitors also invest money to create the same solutions. Consolidating could conceivably put that R&D money into new avenues. "In today's global marketplace, it is increasingly difficult for automakers to compete in lower volume segments like sports cars, hydrogen fuel cells, or electrified vehicles on their own," Ed Kim, vice president of Industry Analysis at AutoPacific, told Autoblog. Even without mergers, these are the areas where Japanese automakers already have partners for development. Kim cited examples like Toyota and Subaru's work on the BRZ and FR-S and its collaboration with BMW on a forthcoming sports car. Honda and GM have also reportedly deepened their cooperation on green car tech. After Toyota's recent buyout of previous partner Daihatsu, Nakanishi agrees with rumors that the automotive giant could next pursue Suzuki. He sees them like a courting couple. "For Suzuki, it's like they're just starting to exchange diaries and have yet to hold hands. When Toyota's starts to hold 5 percent of Suzuki's shares, this will be like finally touching fingertips," Nakanishi told Bloomberg. "I absolutely do believe that we are not finished seeing consolidation in Japan," Kim told Autoblog. Rising development costs to meet tougher emissions regulations make it hard for minor players in the market to remain competitive. "The smaller automakers like Suzuki, Mazda, and Mitsubishi are challenged to make it on their own in the global marketplace. Consolidation for them may be inevitable." Related Video:
Toyota Aygo, Citro?n C1 to join Peugeot 108 in Geneva
Thu, 20 Feb 2014Just the other day, Peugeot took the wraps off the new 108. But its new city car, like the 107 it replaces, doesn't stand on its own. The 107 was a sister vehicle to not only the Citroën C1 but also the Toyota Aygo. So it should come as little surprise that, while Peugeot was the first to release photos and details on its version, Citroën and Toyota will also be on hand with their own versions when the veils lift on all three at the Geneva Motor Show.
We're expecting the new trio of budget-oriented hatchbacks to bear the fruits of individual efforts to distinguish themselves one from another more than their predecessors, which essentially looked the same save for different badges. But from the teaser image above, we'd venture that the Toyota version will be a further departure from the 108 than the C1 will be.
One way or another we'll have to wait and see, but for now you can view Toyota's teaser clip below, along with the press releases confirming the debut of both in Geneva next month.
