You are looking at a 2009 Toyota Corolla XRS that had an engine failure. The car is the top of the line model XRS that has the upgraded 2.4L 4 cylinder engine and sport suspension, brakes, and a few other touches that make it stand out from the other models. This one has been driven a lot- 132000 miles and it has some wear and tear but has held up well. It has not been in an accident, has original paint, and driven on the highway a lot. The paint has scratches here and there but most notably there are long scratches on the hood (see pic) and some on the roof from dragging something across it when the paint was dirty. The roof has very minor hail damage but there is no hail on the rest of the car. The front left fender has a small 2 inch dent. The front bumper lower valences or ground effects have both been bumped and are loose. The front bumper has plenty of nicks from rocks but is in good condition. The only other body dent issue to note is the right rear door has a 4 inch or so dent (see pic). There are some decent scratches on the rear bumper valence on the bottom left. (see pic). The paint otherwise will shine up nicely. The interior could use some cleaning but is fairly clean already, and is in good condition. It has black cloth seats that are made of quality cloth and are in good condition. The carpet has a few stains. The carpet and the floor mat under the drivers pedals has a wear mark that goes all the way through the fabric. The dash is in good condition. Options include a 6 disc cd changer, bluetooth hand free system with voice activation, XM capable stereo, AC, Sunroof, power mirrors, power windows, power locks, cruise control, tilt wheel, keyless entry (with one FOB), two glove boxes, and lots of cup holders. The passenger side door hinge limiter (that keeps the door from opening too far) is broken in half and needs to be replaced.
Mechanically- The engine through a rod through the block and is not repairable. It needs a new engine and does not start. It has a 5 speed automatic transmission, stability control (with a switch to turn it off), and anti-lock brakes. The wheels are the XRS-only 17 inch aluminum wheels with 215/45/17 tires. The tires need to be replaced immediately.
Overall this car has a lot of potential to either be a great car for the buyer or to make money if the intention is to fix and sell. Please look up many different online appraisal estimates and then also search for other cars like this for sale to see what they are selling for. The XRS trim line is uncommon and often sells for more then book value because of this. Sold as is, not running, and needs to be towed at the buyers expense. I will coopereate with any shipping arrangements made by the buyer at the buyers expense. Please ask any pertinent questions prior to bidding and I will get back to you ASAP! Thank you very much for looking!

Mazda and Toyota formally announce plans to 'make cars better'
Wed, May 13 2015Following Monday's report that Toyota and Mazda could be expanding their cooperation, the two Japanese automakers have made it official, issuing a joint press release announcing a "mutually beneficial long-term partnership" that will "make cars better." The two companies will set up a joint committee to figure out the strengths and weaknesses of each party. As we explained yesterday, that likely means Mazda will benefit from Toyota's plug-in-hybrid and fuel-cell tech, while the world's largest automaker can take advantage of the Zoom-Zoom automaker's line of efficient Skyactiv engines. "I am delighted that our two companies can share the same vision and work together to make cars better. I can think of nothing more wonderful than showing the world – together – that the next 100 years of cars will be just as fun as the first," Toyota President Akio Toyoda said in the attached joint statement. Mazda President and CEO Masamichi Kogai echoed that sentiment, saying: "I hope that by working together to make cars better, we can raise the value of cars in the eyes of consumers while also enhancing the manufacturing capabilities of our home, Hiroshima, and all the communities we are involved in as well." Scroll down for the official joint press release. Toyota and Mazda Team Up to Make Cars Better Tokyo, Japan, May 13, 2015-Toyota Motor Corporation and Mazda Motor Corporation today entered an agreement to build a mutually beneficial long term partnership. By leveraging the resources of both companies to complement and enhance each other's products and technologies, the partnership will result in more appealing cars that meet the diverse needs and tastes of customers all over the world. A joint committee will now be set up to evaluate how best to utilize each company's respective strengths. The committee will encourage broad and meaningful collaboration across a range of fields, including environmental and advanced safety technologies. Marking the agreement, Toyota President Akio Toyoda said: "As evidenced by their SKYACTIV Technologies and KODO-Soul of Motion design, Mazda has proven that it always thinks of what is coming next for vehicles and technology, while still managing to stay true to its basic carmaking roots. In this way, Mazda very much practices what Toyota holds dear: making ever-better cars. I am delighted that our two companies can share the same vision and work together to make cars better.
Toyota promises Hybrid-R concept for Frankfurt
Thu, 08 Aug 2013Toyota will be bringing a new concept car to the Frankfurt Motor Show next month. Dubbed Hybrid-R, Toyota says the concept will feature the same Toyota Hybrid System-Racing tech found in the automaker's latest endurance car, the TS030 Hybrid.
That car took second place at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with a gas-powered, 3.4-liter, naturally aspirated V8 and a capacitor-based hybrid system. The result was 530 ponies from the engine and an extra 300 horsepower from the electric motor and batteries.
Toyota's press release came with but one image, a new Hybrid badge which is a far cry from the Hybrid Synergy Drive label found on the automaker's other offerings. There's really not much else to go on yet, but the news that Toyota is already adapting its racing tech for a concept bodes well for the future of exciting, hybridized offerings from the automaker. We'll be at Frankfurt live, and will be sure to bring you all the news on this new concept as it becomes available.
This first-gen Toyota Celica is one mean mother
Tue, 09 Jul 2013Brian Karasawa's gen-one Toyota Celica is, in a word, badass. As a long-standing fan of the marque, the doting owner has tried to both restore and improve his Celica keeping period-correct modifications in mind. The 20R/22R mashup engine is outputting roughly 185 horsepower and graced with a lot of JDM-specific parts and modifications. Clearly, the exhaust has been upgraded from stock, as clips of the orange Toyota in motion are accompanied by one hell of a nice sound.
Tastes clearly vary, and there's not as much love for the first-wave of Japanese metal as there is for similar era American-iron, but we're pleased to see these cars finally getting more time in the spotlight. Scroll down below to see why we're stoked, and consider cruising your local Craigslist for late 1970s and early 1980s Japanese coolness (before we get there first).
