I simply do not have the time to enjoy this vehicle anymore, and would like to see it go to someone who will get good use out of it. This will make a great daily driver with just a little bit of effort. I would recommend replacing the tires and tie rod ends, as the vehicle has not been used regularly for quite some time. There is no rust other than the light surface rust that can be seen in the photos. The exterior trim pieces have recently been soda blasted (as seen in the photos), and are ready to be painted. The exterior paint is about 10 years old, and is in great shape for its age. As to be expected, there are a few chips, but nothing excessive. The paint on the rear two flares is starting to peel where they are bolted to the body. Two corners at the back bottom of the car about exhaust level are bent up slightly, but can be easily straightened. I do not have the emblems, original dash, or driver's side sun visor. Please note that the speedometer and tachometer are not hooked up currently. I've poured tons of cash into this car, and have put a lot of effort into sourcing rare parts. I've tried to showcase the car in it's entirety within these photos. This vehicle has attended TORC (ToyotaFest) a few years back, and has been taken care of very well. I have never seen another TE27 SR5 before, and probably never will. This is one of the straightest and most rust-free examples of a second gen Corolla around, not to mention one of the rarest. Please feel free to ask any questions that you may have!

Toyota reports huge quarterly profit increase, raises forecast for the year

Sun, 04 Aug 2013

Toyota isn't just the world's largest automaker - so far its the biggest winner for quarterly profits. With an enormous $5.5 billion take during Q2, Toyota took advantage of the weak Japanese yen and strong US demand to record a 94-percent improvement in profit over the same period from last year. So far, Toyota brought in larger profits than Ford and General Motors combined.
Toyota is showing no signs of slowing down either, as it has bumped up its forecast for full-year global production, going from 9.94 million to 10.12 million vehicles, on the back of a 13-percent drop in the buying power of the Japanese yen versus the US dollar. That strong exchange rate is largely responsible for Toyota's big jump in profits, although it also managed to shift 1.3 million vehicles in the US market this year. Strong Camry sales have also helped. But while Toyota is raking in the cash, it actually saw a small drop in market share, down 0.1 percent to 14.3 percent of the US market.
As is the case with most automakers, Toyota seems flummoxed by Europe, where it recorded less than one percent of its revenue. Still, as Automotive News points out, Toyota only maintains a 4.5-percent market share in Europe and is far less dependent on the continent than other manufacturers. Toyota also struggled at home, much like Honda. With 525,777 units sold, JDM sales were down almost 51,000 units, although Toyota still saw its operating profit jump from $3.5 billion to $4.6 billion.

Autocar pits McLaren MP4-12C against turbo Toyota GT86

Thu, 29 Aug 2013

The Toyota GT86, in all of its forms, is one of the best-handling cars money can buy, a trait that can put a smile on the faces of all but the most jaded car enthusiasts. But if good handling isn't what they're looking for, then what is? Our first guess would have to be more power, something the 200-horsepower Toyota would benefit from. Autocar tries out that theory by driving two turbocharged GT86s on track, then pitting the more powerful one against the 616-hp McLaren MP4-12C in a track battle.
The first GT86 turbo Autocar's Steve Sutcliffe drives makes around 255 rear-wheel horsepower and a bucket-load more torque than the stock car. That's plenty of power to either have a lot of fun or get into a lot of trouble. But the GT86 that Sutcliffe tails in the McLaren is race-prepped, stripped to the bone and wears slicks to harness a heavy-hitting 335 hp at the wheel. Weighing in at under 2,500 pounds, the Toyota can't overcome the MP4-12C's power-to-weight ratio of 5.3 pounds per horsepower, but it comes pretty close.

Japan considering offering free hydrogen cars because $30k incentives apparently not enough

Wed, Aug 6 2014

There's no such thing as a free lunch. A free hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle, though? It may become a possibility in Japan, says Automotive News. We know the Japanese government is being plenty supportive of hydrogen vehicles since it will provide about $20,000 worth of incentives to prospective customers of the $69,000 vehicle. And with local governments like Toyota City's Aichi prefecture supplying another $10,000, out of pocket costs could reach less than $40,000 for the Toyota hydrogen car. We don't know for sure that the 'free' H2 car will happen, but with Toyota starting sales of its first production FCV next spring (potentially named Mirai), it could happen. That would also spell good news for Honda, which will follow up Toyota's effort for its own hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle. The case for the free car is still pretty tenuous. Automotive News, citing the Nihon Keizai business publication, reports that the Japanese government has thrown around the idea of subsidizing the vehicles outright to early adopters just to gain some momentum for this kind of zero-emissions vehicles. Heck, the government would even throw in free fuel for good measure. We'll see about that. To see some of the official hydrogen excitement, click here for a video of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe taking a Toyota fuel cell vehicle for a brisk test drive.
