Heavily updated 2015 Toyota Camry to bow in New York

Looks like the new, "more emotional" Toyota Camry designer Kevin Hunter talked about back in January is going to arrive very soon, with news that Toyota's bread-and-butter sedan will be getting an update in just a few weeks time at the 2014 New York Auto Show.
"On April 16 at the New York International Auto Show, we will make an important announcement about America's best-selling car, the Toyota Camry," said Curt McAllister, Toyota product news manager, in an emailed statement. Considering the high-profile nature of the NYAS - not to mention the competition that will be shown there - it makes sense that Toyota would choose to unveil something as significant as a major refresh at the Javits Center.
We wish we had more to tell you than this, but unfortunately, that's about all we've got to go on at this time. Of course, we'll have much more for you during the lead up to NYAS, including any leaks of the refreshed Camry. Stay tuned.

Toyota Me.We concept is a multifunction Tupperware car [w/video]

Not to be outdone by the Renault Twin'Z concept penned by Welsh designer Ross Lovegrove, Toyota has partnered up with French designer Jean-Marie Massaud to create the 2013 Toyota Me.We Concept. Unveiled at Le Rendez-vous Toyota in Paris, the Me.We Concept is an attempt to imagine a car that can be appreciated by owners across a wide variety of lifestyles while being courteous to the environment, too.
From a "Me" perspective, the concept is highly customizable with removable body panels, and even though it might look like just a small hatchback from the outside, Toyota claims it can also be used as a pickup (with an extendable rear panel), a convertible (with a neoprene roof panel) and even an off-road vehicle. As for the "We" part of the car, it's a fully electric vehicle with individual in-wheel motors and a battery pack mounted under the load floor. The concept has a weight of around 1,600 pounds kept low thanks to an aluminum chassis, but it also features renewable bamboo wood for the floor in addition to the fully recyclable polypropylene exterior body panels. Toyota announces GT86 CS-R3 rally car

Toyota Motorsport GmbH has developed cars for all manner of racing, up to and including Formula One and Le Mans. But it got its start back in 1979 in rally competition, winning four drivers' and three manufacturers' titles in the World Rally Championship. And now it's announced a new rally car.
Based on the Toyota GT86 (better known to us as the Scion FR-S), the CS-R3 rally car isn't built to contest the top tier of the WRC, but is being developed to conform to the lower R3 class. That means a six-speed sequential gearbox, limited slip differential and upgraded engine, brakes, aero... the works. It'll retain the road-going model's rear-drive setup, joining the front-drive Yaris R1A in TMG's portfolio of customer rally cars.
Further details are set to be revealed "in the coming months", but the GT86 CS-R3 will benefit from the experience TMG accrued in developing the GT86 CS-V3 (pictured above) for the Nürburgring-based VLN endurance racing series.
