RARE.....RARE....RARE...Chance to own this one of a kind 1st Generation Toyota Celica RA22.

Up for sale is my much loved 1975 Toyota Celica. This car is truly one of a kind. It's is the rare 1975 model which has the earlier short nose body style with the larger engine found in the later long body style. Was only produced in the 1975 and what makes it even rarer is the fact is was a factory AC car and was even a Manual Transmission.
Car has only 68k original miles.

This car has undergone a full body restoration. The body prior to restoration was very mint and has never been in an accident so need to worry about patched panels, rust, or filler. Body has been painted Toyota Super White II. The engine bay, firewall, door mirrors, door sill trim, and rocker moldings have been fully shaved. The body of this car is flawless!!! Spare tire well has also been shaved and frame supports added from rail to rail on the underbody for chassis strengthening. Late model Celica seats have been mounted in the car. Studs were welded into the floor so late model Celica racing seat brackets can be used also if you want to add some old school recaros, etc. Just bolt up and go.

There is no engine or transmission. This leaves limitless options for the purchaser to take the completion in any direction they wish. Whether it be a factory inexpensive 20R or a high dollar Corvette LS or Supra 2JZ swap. MAKE IT YOUR OWN!!! Your engine choice could require modifications to the chassis though. Don't expect a bolt up swap. Tunnel / Firewall modifications, welding on mounts to the crossmember, etc could be expected.

I just recently reinstalled the interior and glass so it was ready for transport if it sells. All of the brand new weatherstripping and trim pieces were used. Attached interior pics are current. All panels are in great condition but the choice to recover to 100% new would be up to the buyer. The vehicle of course still needs carpet but I was holding off for that until an engine choice was made in case there needed to be tunnel modifications. The factory dash pad vinyl was cracked hence why I recovered it in the plaid. You could leave it like this or recover in leather/vinyl to match everything else like i had planned. The metal dash panel in the front ,which is part of the chassis, that the pad attaches to and rear deck was sprayed flat black while in for restoration after the old paint was stripped down to metal. Since everything was raw I decided to have them black instead of white. A brand new OEM headliner is in the car also. Looks great. Very tight fit.
The stock Heater box / Fan AC Blower and all dash panels, controls, and gauges I do have and will come with the car. They are all in perfect working condition. I also have a new RA21 vent blower panel that attaches to the box and under the dash which has AC controls and two vents. Looks great!

Brake lines need to be ran. Fuel lines need to be ran. Wiring installed.

Front and rear RA21 Smooth bumpers included. Great condition but they do have a few dings.

Other than that the car is complete and assembled for transport. I can put all of the extras inside the car if you wish to ship.

******For those that hesitate because of price, there is way over $20k in this car. This was no Maaco paint job. All dings were removed by hand, no filler. The added in rear roll pan was all hand rolled and welded in. PPG paint. Hard clear in the engine bay so no yellowing will occur due to heat either. Not a corner was cut here. The quality is second to none. The starting bid is set accordingly but you for sure will get more than you pay for and this car will not depreciate like most.******

Serious bidders only. Full payment is due within seven days of the auction end.

Feel free to contact me with any questions regarding the vehicle at sales@the75celica.com or through eBay.

Toyota plans biggest stock buyback in over a decade

Tue, 01 Apr 2014

At the end of December, 2013 Toyota had a cash stockpile of 1.8 trillion yen ($17.5B US). As of March 31, at the end of its current financial year, company coffers are expected to swallow another 1.9 trillion yen ($18.4B US) in net profit - said to be a record sum for the Japanese automaker. In a gesture signaling a turnaround from the horrors of the global recession, Bloomberg reports that Toyota will buy back 60 million shares of its stock, as much as 1.89 percent of the company, for something like 360 billion yen ($3.5B US). It's the first buyback since 2009 and the largest buyback since 2003, when it spent roughly 390 billion yen ($3.8B US) repurchasing shares.
Company president Akio Toyoda founded the Toyota Mobility Foundation (TMF), a non-profit that will support international groups working on transportation issues in emerging markets. Half of the stock that Toyota buys, 30 million shares, will be sold to the foundation via the Japanese Trustee Services Bank for one yen per share, the dividend providing the foundation's initial funding. The other 30 million shares will be canceled, a company spokesman telling Reuters that the company wants to reward shareholders.
Industry analysts have been asking Toyota to either return money to shareholders or invest in new factories, but Toyota has ruled out the latter. After getting burned with excess capacity when the financial crisis came, the company is focused on extracting efficiencies from the plants it already has. Toyota has said it plans to complete the buyback by June of this year.

Ford Fiesta ST in startling track battle against Toyota GT86

Wed, 26 Jun 2013

On the surface, there's very little that the Ford Fiesta ST and Toyota GT86 (or the Scion FR-S that is sold in the US, or the largely similar Subaru BRZ) share in common. One is a hatchback with power coming from a turbocharged engine routed to the front wheels. The other is a coupe with power coming from a naturally aspirated four-cylinder boxer engine routed to the rear wheels.
Thing is, both of them are reasonably priced performance cars aimed at a similar segment of the automotive marketplace, so a comparison isn't out of the question. It is with all of this in mind that we direct you to the video below, in which the blokes from Evo pit the two manic little machines against one another on a race track. The result? Well, it can be summed up this way: Fast versus fun.
See how the track battle goes down in the video below.

Junkyard Gem: 2004 Pontiac Vibe GT

Fri, Jun 26 2020

The New United Motor Manufacturing plant in Fremont, California, built Toyota-derived machinery — badged as Toyotas, Chevrolets, Geos, and Pontiacs— from 1984 through 2010, and some of the very last vehicles that left the assembly line were Pontiac Vibes. The Vibe, sibling to the Toyota Matrix, mostly served as a ho-hum transportation appliance and/or fleet car, but a factory-hot-rod GT version could be purchased. Today's Junkyard Gem is one of those rare GTs, complete with the nearly unheard-of six-speed manual transmission, found in a self-service yard in northeastern Colorado. The regular Vibe had 123 or 130 horsepower, depending on the number of driven wheels, but the Vibe GT got the same 1.8-liter 2ZZ engine that went into the Celica GT-S. 180 horsepower, which was enough to make the 2,800-pound Vibe GT keep up with the 3,108-pound/215-horse Chrysler PT Cruiser Turbo that year. Sadly, no race series pitting Vibe GTs against PT Cruiser Turbos and Chevy HHR SSs on road courses ever materializedÂ… but it's not too late. The Vibe GT has something you couldn't get in a PT Cruiser or Chevy HHR, though: a six-speed manual transmission as standard equipment. In fact, the six-speed was the only transmission offered in the early Vibe GTs (an automatic became an option later on). You'll find plenty of three-pedal econoboxes from this era, because they were significantly cheaper than their slushbox-equipped counterparts, but the Vibe GT had plenty of competition from sportier-looking cars with manual transmissions in 2004. Not many were sold. This car is covered with nasty dents from golf-ball-sized hail (all too common in High Plains Colorado), so it may have been an insurance total that nobody wanted at auction. Sold in Wyoming, will be crushed in an adjacent state. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Fuel for the soul. Toyota had right-hand-drive Matrixes brought over to Japan from Canada, but a NUMMI-built version of the Vibe could be purchased there for a few years as well. This was the Voltz, and its advertising seems notably frantic even by the standards of Japanese car commercials.
