1980 Toyota
Celica Gt lift back (RA42L) You are
viewing a highly customized Celica GT with 131,000 original miles. I am a
Toyota Factory certified Master Technician and ASE certified master technician
with over 30 years of professionally working on Toyota products. This car
originally belonged to my Mother. When she gave me the car in 2000, I proceeded
to replace the 20R carbureted motor with a 22RE fuel injected motor and the
complete fuel injection system from a 1984 Celica. The
installation looks like it came from the factory! I even moved the battery from
the right side to the left side! I took the original
wiring harness and the fuel injected donor vehicle’s harness completely apart
and made one harness using only the factory wires, terminals and connectors. I even fabricated two fuse & relay blocks. I replaced
the three speed automatic with a four speed overdrive automatic transmission. I had the
car repainted and re-upholstered. I installed custom clear headlights and
lenses front and rear. The car also
has custom air brushing on the hood, spoiler and 1/4 panels I swapped in
the 1981 three piece radio. I hunted
junkyards for a year to find the factory 1981 Supra spoiler and the black glass B-piller trims and the 1981 spare
tire wood cover. The car has a full sized spare tire. I replaced the 14 inch steel wheels with the 15 inch alloys with Bridgestone Potenzas 195/60 R15 This vehicle
has been taken to a California Bureau of Auto Repair referee station and issued
a smog system compliance label. It smogs every 2 years as a 1984 Celica. It has
current registration in my name Manual
sunroof works great. I just put a
brand new battery in! **Known Defects** There are approximately 12 paint chips in the left and right doors and fenders. The A/C was converted to R134a, but is currently empty. The engine leaks a little oil. The radio buzzes on one speaker. And the tires are worn to 5/32". This car is
super reliable and can be used as a daily driver or entered in car shows. Why am I
selling her? Hey gotta get on to the next project…I’m envisioning a V-6 SW MR2 |

Scion reveals iM concept ahead of LA debut
Wed, 12 Nov 2014After dropping a teaser image on us a few weeks ago, Scion has revealed in full the new iM Concept it's bringing to the Los Angeles Auto Show next week. As expected, the concept is clearly a rebadged version of the Euro-market Toyota Auris, only with some "European Racing Circuit Styling" upgrades to make it look more aggressive.
Along with the Scion logos, the five-door hatch is treated to a deeper air dam flanked by angular vents with stacked fog lamps, beefed-up wheel arches linked by widened side sills and filled with 19-inch, anthracite-finish alloys on low-profile rubber. Vented brake discs and four-piston calipers join an adjustable suspension as show-worthy equipment upgrades.
The sporty treatment continues around back with a similarly aggressive rear bumper and roof spoiler. Even the wing mirrors are replaced with narrower units. Little wonder it's all done up in a shade Scion calls "incrediblue" that looks rather similar to what sister-brand Lexus would put on one of its F-branded performance models - or for that matter what corporate ally Subaru would put on an STI hot hatches like the WRX.
Toyota CamRally is vanilla spiced
Tue, 05 Nov 2013We weren't quite sure it was possible, but NASCAR driver Parker Kligerman and the other folks behind this Toyota Dream Build Challenge vehicle (check out the other cars in the challenge) have made the Camry, a versatile but vanilla family sedan, into a performance car to be reckoned with. And by stripping it (literally) of its versatility and injecting some spice into it, this rally-spec Camry does indeed appeal to the enthusiast crowd.
The appeal starts with the CamRally's vintage Toyota racing colors of red, orange and yellow painted on a widened body. Those wide fender flares and rocker panels, paired with the revised front and rear fascias (and massive rear spoiler), lend the car an aggressive look without being tacky, and enhance the aerodynamics. But peel back the skin and you'll find plenty of performance upgrades to back up the looks.
While Toyota doesn't say how much horsepower it makes, the CamRally's V6 is turbocharged, and we assume the car's brake upgrade is indicative of the engine's increased output. The stripped interior only contains what's needed for rally racing, including bucket seats, a motorsport steering wheel covered in Alcantara, a carbon-fiber dashboard and a roll cage.
