Toyota Camry on 2040-cars
Marlborough, Massachusetts, United States
I bought this car in 2000 and have been driving it as a daily driver ever since. It has been and still is a good car. Maintentence I expect to be coming up includes a possible heater core issue and eventually front wheel bearings. It has almost always started on the first crank except for every number of months when it is very humid it may take 2 or 3 turns of the key, but always starts up. I'm letting it go just because I don't want to bother figuring out what is misting the windows up. I've always kept it clean underneath, and around wheel wells, as well as the engine compartment, which you can see in the engine pics. The spare feels a bit soft to the touch and I don't know if it holds air or not. Tires have some life left on them. I would expect to get another year out of them. It got a new alternator in July of 2013, also.

Impala crashes into Land Cruiser... to hide from a cheetah
Fri, 12 Jul 2013What would you do if a wild animal jumped into your vehicle through an open window during an African safari? What if said animal was an impala being chased by cheetahs? Though the scenario seems unbelievable, that's just what happened to a group of tourists in Kruger National Park in South Africa, and it was all caught on video.
With the tour groups stopped, a motorist with a video camera handy happens to catch the unlikely sight of a herd of impalas (not that kind of Impala) jumping over the tarmac while being followed, quickly of course, by two cheetahs. The feline predators thought they had cornered one impala and were closing in for the kill when it jumped through the open window of a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado - South Africa's version of the Lexus GX. Fortunately for the occupants of said vehicle, the cheetahs did not follow.
A short while later, one of the occupants in the Toyota fearlessly opens a door to let the poor animal out. It must have been its lucky day, because the cheetahs didn't take pursuit. Check out the circle life get interrupted by this traffic jam in the video below.

Jay Leno goes offroading with the legendary Ivan 'Ironman' Stewart
Mon, 17 Nov 2014Jay Leno takes a step outside of his cavernous garage for this latest video for a jaunt into the desert to get a little dirty. He meets up with off-road racing legend Ivan 'Ironman' Stewart, who has multiple Baja 500 and 1000 wins in his motorsports career, to play with a Toyota Tundra in the sand.
Unfortunately, Leno doesn't get to interview Stewart too deeply about his long history in racing, but Ironman does talk a little bit about reading the trail while speeding through the desert. In lieu of a great conversation, there is a ton of high-quality footage of the Toyota bounding through the desert.
This clip feels more like a marketing effort than the usual output from Jay Leno's Garage, but it's still great to see Stewart behind the wheel sliding a truck, just like old times. The two of them even take the truck on a somewhat humorous journey at the end of the video.
