1998 Toyota Camry Xle Sedan 4-door Excellent Condition!!! No Reserve!! on 2040-cars
Davidsonville, Maryland, United States
Welcome to my 1998 Toyota Camry XLE. This vehicle was the top-of-the-line Honda of its time and only has 112k ORIGINAL miles. This car was purchased as a trade-in from a military family. It has been meticulously maintained and it shows. The engine has fresh belts all around, (including timing belt) new oil and runs very smoothly. Mechanically, there is nothing to report. The transmission shifts 100%. All power options radio, moonroof, locks, windows, etc. - function properly. There is also a functioning factory CD changer in the trunk. The paint is in excellent condition. No rust anywhere. There are no scratches or previous accidents to report - per Autocheck. There is a small crease near the rear deck lid (pictured) where tree limb had fallen and hit the car. Also, there are a couple of spots on the trunk where light hail "dimples" are visible - because it is not significant, it can only be seen from certain angles and not with the camera - I just wanted it mentioned here. The interior is in excellent condition with no signs of wear on the seats or carpet - no stains or punctures are present. The rims are upgraded alloy factory type - with no road rash. The tires are relatively new - purchased in (November) and have several years of wear left on them. Brakes stop on a dime. This car is in extremely good condition and will provide years of reliability.
Mechanical issues to address: For preventative maintenance, it is probably time for a valve cover gasket replacement. This particular engine will give you 3-400k miles if you stay on top of the maintenance. This vehicle is being
offered for sale AS-IS. If you are new to Ebay or if you have fewer
than 4 transactions, please contact me prior to bidding for approval to bid or
I will cancel your bid immediately.
There is a $125 documentation fee in addition to the final selling
price. A $500 non-refundable deposit is
required via Paypal within 48 hours of auction close. Transaction must be
completed within 7 days of auction end (full payment and pick-up arrangements
at least). I have done my best to describe the vehicle as accurately as
possible. Once purchased, this car can
be driven anywhere in the country without issue. For those of you who are not
local, BWI (Baltimore) is the closest airport to my location. Contact me via email with any questions.
Please bid with confidence and good luck. |

Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ successor canceled?
Tue, Jan 29 2019Rumors indicate that the Toyota 86 is done for. Japanese Nostalgic Car is quoting Japanese sources as saying Toyota and Subaru have parted ways regarding the 86 and that the current car's replacement is off the table. According to JNC, the Japanese magazine Best Car is readying a report that the 86/BRZ successor has been canceled. JNC also considers the fact that in Japan, there will be a four-cylinder, 197-horsepower version of the new Supra, ready to continue where the 86 will leave the market. Back in 2016 the automaker seemingly confirmed that a replacement for the rear-drive car was under development, but plans can change and with a cheaper Supra version for sale in markets outside the U.S., we have to wonder if the 86 replacement has been shelved. The 86, while balanced, has only received mild enhancements and not a lot of extra power during its near-decade long time on the market, and it isn't such a strong seller that it would necessarily merit the effort of Toyota developing a successor on its own, particularly without the help of a partner like Subaru or BMW. At the same time, Autocar quotes Toyota boss Akio Toyoda on the Supra: "At the end of the day, is there anything better than a tight rear-wheel-drive sports car? I hope this won't be the last Toyota sports car you see from us in the future." While that is far from a solid statement of Toyota's future intent, it paves the way to offerings below the Supra, and shows how much the company boss cares about driver involvement. There is a distinct possibility that the company will re-introduce the MR2 as an electrified, rear-drive sports car which could still be a joint venture with Subaru, as Japanese Nostalgic Car theorizes. Whatever's in the pipeline Β and we hope there is something in the pipeline Β it seems Toyota's heart is in the right place: driving the rear wheels. Related Video:
Toyota asking NHTSA for fuel cell car safety exemption regarding electric shocks
Mon, 30 Jun 2014Toyota is requesting an exemption from federal safety regulations that govern electric cars as it prepares to launch a small-scale hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle fleet.
The Japanese automaker is targeting Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 305, which covers the packaging of high-voltage parts in electric cars. According to Uncle Sam, these systems need to be isolated so that passengers and first responders aren't electrocuted in the event of a crash. That seems pretty smart, but it's become a problem for Toyota's upcoming production fuel cell vehicle, as the mechanism that prevents electric shocks in low-speed crashes will apparently simply keep Toyota's car from even functioning.
Instead of the federally approved system, Bloomberg reports that Toyota plans to insulate the high-voltage wires and cables in the car, along with shielding electrical components like the fuel cells, electric motor and batteries with (presumably non-conductive) metal barriers.
Mini Minor to be co-developed with Toyota
Mon, Jan 26 2015It was back in 2011 when Mini first showcased the prospect of an even smaller hatchback with the Rocketman concept at the Geneva Motor Show. In the nearly four years since, parent company BMW has hemmed and hawed on the possibility of putting it into production, but the latest word from Europe has it that the project is a go. According to Automobile magazine, Mini is realigning its product portfolio into five pillars: the essential hardtop we've already seen (available in two/three- and four/five-doors), the convertible, the upcoming new Clubman wagon (coming this summer with full-size auxiliary suicide doors on both sides), the next-gen Countryman crossover in 2016 and two new model lines. One will be the production version of the Superleggera roadster concept, earmarked for 2018. The other will be the Minor, a smaller city car reviving a long-gone model name and presaged by the aforementioned Rocketman concept. But for that last one, Mini won't go it alone. To develop the mini Mini, BMW will reportedly turn to its partnership with Toyota. The relationship is already set to yield a new Supra and Z4 and share fuel cell and other technologies. But this would broaden the partnership to include a small hatchback. However rather than use the existing (or next-gen) Aygo, which is already built under joint venture with PSA Peugeot Citroen (with which BMW previously had a joint engine venture), word has it that the BMW and Toyota will develop a new platform for the project one that will be used by both partners. The new product plan doesn't leave much room for the Mini Coupe and Roadster (which have already been discontinued), for the Paceman three-door crossover (which will suffer the same fate) or for the projected seven-seater minivan. But the addition of the new Superleggera roadster and super-mini Mini aren't likely to leave us wanting for either. Related Video:
