1997 Toyota Camry Le 4 Cylinder Automatic Transmission on 2040-cars
Warminster, Pennsylvania, United States
Up for sale is a 1997 Toyota Camry LE 4 cylinder automatic transmission in Cashmere Beige Metallic.
Please refer to this video for a full tour, start up, and test drive: link Full album with over 100 pictures: link The car has 156638 miles. I currently own 2 cars, and will be getting a company car for work within the next month. I don't have room to keep all 3, so going to sell the Toyota. The good: The car starts, runs, and drives perfectly. Headlights and taillights are both in great shape with no bulbs out. All power windows and power door locks work. Trunk release and fuel filler door release work. Sunroof works perfectly. Heat blows hot and AC blows cold. Radio, power side mirrors, wipers, and wiper fluid sprayers work. Tires and in good shape, have decent tread life left (rough approximation would be about 50%). The bad: The 1 major issue with the car is a power steering fluid leak. I'm not exactly sure where it's leaking from, but I would assume the power steering pump; this will most likely need to be replaced. I've had to refill the reservoir about once a month for the past 3 months. Exterior has some minor dents and dings, the biggest flaws being: a golf ball sized dent in the front bumper (truck with a tow hitch backed into the car); some scratches and scuffs on the passenger side edge of the rear bumper with noticeable paint loss; a few door dings on the passenger side front and rear doors. The sunglass holder is missing the plastic piece that sunglass go into. The overhead visor mirrors are missing the plastic covers. Floor mats (particularly front drivers) are in rough shape and could stand to be replaced. Some dirt and oil stains on the carpet. Recent maintenance performed: 155760 - oil change 154568 - replaced timing belt, idler pulley, and tensioner pulley, replaced all housing gaskets 154286 - replaced valve cover gasket The vehicle is adult owned (I'm 32), previous owner was a man in his 50s, before that, a woman in her 70s. It has been well maintained throughout the entire life of the vehicle. I've tried to be as thorough and complete as possible, but please do not hesitate to ask any questions you might have. The car is available to view in person upon request. Thanks for looking! |

Toyota, Ford decide to end hybrid collaboration before it starts
Tue, 23 Jul 2013Not all so-called Memorandum of Understanding pacts end in actual collaborations. For instance, after a two-year "feasibility study," Toyota and Ford have just announced that they will not be developing hybrid systems for use in light trucks and SUVs as previously planned, and the two automakers will instead continue to develop their own hybrid technology independently.
The would-be collaboration was first announced in August of 2011, and would have seen a rear-wheel-drive hybrid platform that would "improve the efficiency of trucks and SUVs while still allowing them to be driven in the way customers expect," according to our initial post on the topic.
Keep in mind that this announcement isn't to say we shouldn't expect hybrid pickups and SUVs from the two automakers, but that they probably aren't coming very soon - Ford says it will have a system "before the end of this decade" and we haven't heard much from Toyota on the hybrid truck front since the 2008 A-BAT Concept (pictured above) - and that they will not share any components between them (and they never have, for what it's worth).
Toyota Prius sets a different kind of Nurburgring lap record [w/video]
Tue, 15 Jul 2014Scroll down the leaderboards of Nürburgring lap times and you'll see mostly racing cars, supercars and sports cars. Delve deep enough and you'll eventually get to hatchbacks and sedans, albeit the most performance-focused of their kind. But a hybrid? Sure, the Porsche 918 Spyder posted the top time for a street-legal series production car, and it's technically a hybrid, but we're talking about another kind of hybrid here. We're talking about a Toyota Prius.
That's right: the Prius just set a lap record around the Nordschleife. But it wasn't for the lap time. In fact, miles per hour barely factored in (except for staying above the minimum 37-mph average speed mandated on the vaunted racing circuit). No, this was about miles per gallon.
Toyota took one of its Prius Plug-In hybrids to the Nürburgring, topped up the battery, put on a set of low-rolling-resistance tires and put automotive journalist Joe Clifford behind the wheel with a mandate to use as little fuel as possible. After one second shy of 21 minutes, the Prius completed its lap having used just five tablespoons of fuel.
Toyota RAV4 "Adventure" brings the butch
Tue, 05 Mar 2013Just last week, your humble author had a 2013 Toyota RAV4 in his garage, and he couldn't help noting that even in mid-level XLE trim, its aesthetics lacked oomph, due in large part to its cheap-looking black bumpers and airy-looking wheel wells. Judging by the RAV4 "Adventure" on display at the Geneva Motor Show, someone at Toyota must've been thinking the same thing.
With Japan's biggest automaker understandably focused on bigger reveals, information on this butched-up softroader has proven to be hard to come by, with no press materials whatsoever. We don't even know if this is a pure concept or if it's actually being considered for production. Either way, we approve. The 20-inch dark-finish alloys probably don't do much for ride quality, but they certainly look nicely aggressive, as does the new lower fascia with its prominent lower lip. Other changes include beefier wheel arches, side rails, headlamps with integrated LEDs, twin-element fog lamps and mesh grille inserts. All of the changes are quite well integrated - enough so that the Adventure largely avoids looking like a SEMA refugee in person.
