The 1989 Toyota Camry Wagon LE V6 for sale here is in excellent condition especially for a classic Toyota.  The wagon in this generation is rare and we purchased it from the Tennessee family that purchased it back in 1989.  The drivers were elderly who passed it on to their older grown children and it looks like it has been garaged and taken very good care of it's whole life.  It has been well maintained with recent engine and transmission service performed which makes it a strong running car.

The exterior paint is in great condition and the body is about an 8 out of 10 with few minor dings, but no rust showing at all.  It is a southern car.  We purchased it while living in Indiana but we have kept the Camry for our use in Tennessee so it hasn't seen any northern winters.  The car is currently located in East Tennessee.

The interior is in great condition, about an 8 out of 10, with seats and carpet showing very minimal wear.  Most of the interior looks like new.

The sunroof on this car works but it is very slow, so it has not been used by us at all.  If you must have a working sunroof that opens well, this car will not be suitable for you, unless you want to fix this feature.

All other features work as they should at this time.  This is a classic Toyota from an era that was known for high quality products that last.  The wagons are rare and this one has been kept so nice that it is in a class of it's own.

NADA values this car at $4300 average retail.  The reserve is set much lower than this so you will be getting a good value especially considering the condition and special character of this car.  Delivery is not provided by the seller, however we will gladly do our best to work with the buyer to help facilitate moving the car once payment is made and the purchase is completed.

We have attempted to describe the car completely so that you can bid with confidence.  If you need more information, send your questions so that we can answer them before you bid.  The winning bidder is entering into a commitment to complete the purchase of this vehicle.

Scion pondering move upmarket?

Mon, 01 Apr 2013

Scion is simultaneously celebrating its ten-year anniversary with the 10 Series models and trying to figure out what to do with itself over the next ten years. Once a go-to consideration for young, first-time buyers who wanted something cool and different, in 2013 it has a model everyone is still talking about in the FR-S, a model few are still talking about in the iQ, and three models in between in the tC, xB and xD that make everyone wonder, "What happened?"
Automotive News spoke to Toyota's North American CEO, Jim Lentz - he was the VP in charge of Scion when it launched - about the options, and Lentz said one of them could be a move upmarket to challenge the established luxury brands that are moving downmarket. "There's going to be a big need in the $25,000 range for a fun-to-drive, nice-looking, value-oriented product," he said, and the FR-S, which starts at $25,255, could provide the platform for Scion to climb up a notch or two in price and perception. An idea like this could conceivably work in tandem with a proposal to move entry-level Scion products over to the Toyota brand - but remember, this is all just ideas on a whiteboard at the moment.
As opposed to an "entry-luxury fighter," the brand could swing back to the other option that was considered when it was formed, directly challenging the Korean makes that have usurped its cachet with first-time buyers. Lentz said Scion could go either way, and the tone of the piece seems to indicate that the final direction is still a ways away from being resolved.

Toyota promises Hybrid-R concept for Frankfurt

Thu, 08 Aug 2013

Toyota will be bringing a new concept car to the Frankfurt Motor Show next month. Dubbed Hybrid-R, Toyota says the concept will feature the same Toyota Hybrid System-Racing tech found in the automaker's latest endurance car, the TS030 Hybrid.
That car took second place at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with a gas-powered, 3.4-liter, naturally aspirated V8 and a capacitor-based hybrid system. The result was 530 ponies from the engine and an extra 300 horsepower from the electric motor and batteries.
Toyota's press release came with but one image, a new Hybrid badge which is a far cry from the Hybrid Synergy Drive label found on the automaker's other offerings. There's really not much else to go on yet, but the news that Toyota is already adapting its racing tech for a concept bodes well for the future of exciting, hybridized offerings from the automaker. We'll be at Frankfurt live, and will be sure to bring you all the news on this new concept as it becomes available.

Toyota Prius line may not reach 2013 sales target

Mon, 22 Apr 2013

2012 was a good year for the Toyota Prius line, the hybrid that started it all moving 236,659 units, being the best-selling model in California for the year and the Prius C (pictured) being deemed the most reliable car of 2012 by Consumer Reports. Then 2013 happened, and gas prices dropped more than expected, and people haven't been buying the little hybrids like they used to.
A report in Bloomberg says Toyota set 250,000 units as the Prius family's sales target for this year, but hits like the double-digit drop in year-on-year performance in February have helped lower 2013 sales by 8.4 percent compared to 2012, making the objective "a challenge" to reach. The declines in Prius sales come even as hybrid sales overall were up in the first couple of months this year, including sales of other Toyota and Lexus hybrids. Jim Lentz, Toyota's North American chief, said the Prius target would be adjusted if necessary.
