This vehicle is located in the San Jose/Santa Clara region of California better known as the South Bay or the Silicon Valley, Please be aware that the vehicle must be towed from the property even though it has been registered with the DMV and I have the paper work to verify it. The vehicle "DID NOT" pass smog so the tags even though paid for had lapsed because it did not pass the smog within the 90 day time limit the DMV gives.

From what I was told by the DMV and from what I understand the new owner if the wish to register it would only need to pay the reinstatement fee for the tags not the full amount. But I am not the DMV or a legal person so you will need to contact the DMV to find out what fees are due to get your tags. The vehicle is being sold "AS IS" and is considered non operable even though it had been driven until 2months ago when it failed to pass smog. Below is a list of items that my friend made up to show that these New parts have been replaced within the past 4 months of the vehicle running.

Here is what it entails; I am "PARTING OUT" whole car only not piece by piece a 1987 Toyota Camry 180k miles, I replaced over $1,500 in new parts not counting labor over the past four months. The reason for no labor charges is since I'm disabled I had the work done not by a dealership but by student mechanics at CET automotive training school in downtown San Jose. This saved me a lot of money since I could not afford the dealer prices for repairs. The car is in somewhat running condition. What I mean by that is up until a couple of weeks ago I drove the vehicle a few times a week to my Dr. appointments but the driver’s side front bearing went out and I just couldn't afford to throw more good money after bad and put any more parts on this car. I purchased a newer used vehicle and just want to sell this to someone who may want to repair it or use the new parts on another Toyota they own. I just want to recoup some of the money I invested.

Here are some of the items replaced in the past four months, Sway bar, sway bar bushings, sway bar mount plate, outer tie rod ends, rotor, brake pads, rebuilt calipers, new water pump, Tires are good more than half tread is left on it, 4 new shock assemblies, new shock mounting kits, lower control arms, lower control arm bushings, new ignition assembly with coil and cap, new fuel control solenoid, new spark plug wires, new spark plugs, fuseable link, brand new starter, new timing belt, new serpentine belt, New water pump, new thermo control module, new oil and filter, flushed radiator, charged air condition unit which is really cold and multiple miscellaneous items like head lights, break lights, vacuum hoses, water hoses etc.

The engine runs and so does the transmission but it started acting funny where it took a few seconds after I hit the gas for it to take off so not sure if the transmission is all that good for a long time a mechanic said it was just probably an actuator switch. The engine turns over and runs but with the bearing on the wheel now making noise I had to have it towed back to the house and it sits in my driveway. So you will need to have it towed as it can't be driven in the condition it is in. There is a little damage on the passenger side door and the front panel from a jerk who came to close to me but other than that the interior is not torn or ripped and everything works including the stereo system. It may sound like I know what I'm talking about but I don't I had a friend write all the parts that were replaced for me.

I'm asking only $800.00 O.B.O. I’m disabled and I live on a fixed income and I feel this is a fair offer. I am losing money on it but would like to pay my family member back some of the money they loaned me for my newer used car. Sometimes you just need to cut your losses and move forward.

Lexus tops JD Power Vehicle Dependability Study again, Buick bests Toyota

Wed, Feb 25 2015

It shouldn't surprise anyone, but Lexus has once again taken the top spot in JD Power's Vehicle Dependability Study. That'd be the Japanese luxury brand's fourth straight year at the top of table. The big news, though, is the rise of Buick. General Motor's near-premium brand beat out Toyota to take second place, with 110 problems per 100 vehicles compared to Toyota's 111 problems. Lexus owners only reported 89 problems per 100 vehicles. Besides Buick's three-position jump, Scion enjoyed a major improvement, jumping 13 positions from 2014. Ram and Mitsubishi made big gains, as well, moving up 11 and 10 positions, respectively. In terms of individual segments, GM and Toyota both excelled, taking home seven segment awards each. The study wasn't good news for all involved, though. A number of popular automakers finished below the industry average of 147 problems per 100 vehicles, including Subaru, (157PP100), Volkswagen (165PP100), Ford/Hyundai (188PP100 each) and Mini (193PP100). The biggest losers (by a tremendous margin, we might add) were Land Rover and Fiat, recording 258 and 273 problems per 100 vehicles. The next closest brand was Jeep, with 197PP100. While the Vehicle Dependability Study uses the same measurement system as the Initial Quality Survey, the two metrics analyze very different things. The VDS looks at problems experienced by original owners of model year 2012 vehicles over the past 12 months, while the oft-quoted IQS focuses on problems in the first 90 days of new-vehicle ownership. Like the IQS, though, the VDS has a rather broad definition of what a problem is. Because of that, a low score from JD Power is no guarantee of extreme unreliability, so much as just poor design. In this most recent study, the two most reported problems focused on Bluetooth connectivity and the voice-command systems. The former leaves plenty of room for user error due to poor design (particularly true of the Bluetooth systems on the low-scoring Fords, Volkswagens and Subarus), while the second is something JD Power has already confirmed as being universally terrible. That makes means that while these studies are important, they shouldn't be taken as gospel when it comes to automotive reliability. Toyota projecting record profits, thanks in part to weak yen

Fri, Feb 6 2015

Toyota retained its global sales crown in 2014 by selling 10.23 million cars in the calendar year. As the positive number might suggest, the Japanese automaker is doing extremely well financially, too. Although, some tougher times might be on the horizon. Toyota recently released its financial figures for the three fiscal quarters running from April 1 through the end of December 2014. Net profit jumped an impressive 13.2 percent to 1.727 trillion yen ($14.7 billion) for that period. It could be the Japanese automaker's most profitable time ever when the fiscal year ends in March, if things keep going this way, according to The New York Times. Toyota's own profit forecast for the 12-month period is also up by 130 billion yen ($1.1 billion) to 2.13 trillion yen ($18.1 billion). One key to the company's success is the low value of the Japanese yen, because it allows Toyota to make more money on each vehicle the company sells abroad. The currency is now worth relatively less than any time since the early '70s, according to The New York Times. Despite the rosy financial numbers, actual sales have started to fall, albeit a very slight amount. Through the three fiscal quarters, the company sold 6.73 million cars, a drop of just 45,365 vehicles. Toyota also reduced its forecast for the fiscal year to 9 million units, rather than the original estimate of 9.05 million. According to The New York Times, the shrinking Japanese auto market and difficulty in China might mean losing the global sales lead next year. For the US, sales jumped 145,411 units from April through December to a total 2.1 million vehicles. Operating income reached $4.27 billion, nearly 50 percent more than last year, according to The New York Times. Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) Announces April – December 2014 Financial Results February 04, 2015 Toyota's global net income jumped 13.2 percent during the nine-month period (April 1– December 31, 2014) of the 2015 fiscal year. Global Financial Highlights: Global sales decreased by 45,365 vehicles to 6.73 million, with strong sales in North America and gains in Europe, offsetting decreases in Japan and other regions.

eBay Find of the Day: Back To The Future Marty McFly 1985 Toyota SR5 pickup tribute

Mon, 05 Aug 2013

With DeLorean time machine replicas thick on the ground, it was only a matter of time before someone started recreating the other vehicles in the McFly garage. At the end of the first Back to the Future movie, Marty returns to 1985 to find his sweet-looking Toyota SR5 truck all waxed and ready for his date. That truck always did look great in the movie, and now's your chance to own this close facsimile.
This Back to the Future replica Toyota is on eBay with a price of $14,500, which the seller claims is half of what's been invested. Perhaps that's true, but it's still a nearly 30-year-old truck that's covered 280,000 miles. The seller does say the 22RE engine has been recently rebuilt, along with the rest of the drivetrain, and there's new paint, too. The attention to detail is admirable, and if you've always admired Marty's '80s-chic 4x4, now's your chance to own it.
