MRS. ROYAL's FORMER DEMO~~~AMAZING SERVICE RECORDS SINCE NEW~~~CLEAN CARFAX! This 2005 Toyota Avalon XLS was orignally ordered for MRS. ROYAL, herself. She always drives a Blizzard Pearl Avalon, loaded up! She drove it for over 1,000 miles and then we sold it to a customer (perks of being owner's wife!) Once she turns her demo back in for a new one, we have the green light to sell it--and we did. The first real, retail, owner of this vehicle kept it for another 95,000 miles--and SERVICED THE VEHICLE RIGHT HERE LIKE CLOCKWORK. Check out the CARFAX for a quick overniew of all the service this Avalon has had over the years! Because of that type of history, we are offering this as a ROYAL CPO VEHICLE, meaning it has been inspected by our Toyota Factory trained technicians, PASSED, and now comes with a WARRANTY included in the price. This warranty is valid at any Toyota dealership or ASE Certified Repair Shop (includes most new car dealerships). So you can buy with confidence! The previous owner actually traded in this Avalon for a 2013 Avalon Limited, right here at our dealership. You can't find a better history than that! Now, more about the vehicle. *****It has a long list of standard features, including 17' Alloy Wheels, multiple airbags (ask us for the full list), Daytime Running Lights & Fog Lamps, Dual Exhaust, Moonroof, Dual Heated Outside Mirrors, LEATHER, Power Pass Seat, Rear Reclining Seats, Dual Zone Climate Control, Cruise Control, Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel, Auto-Dimming Rearview Mirror w/ Compass, HomeLink Coming Home System, and Wood-Grain Sytle interior trim. Race Recap: 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans defines 'endurance'
Mon, 16 Jun 2014Commenting on the rush of events that rocked beginning and end of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Paul Truswell of Radio Le Mans said "the race is about the ability to endure, not just the ability of drivers to do what they do for a long time." The entire race machine, all the way down to the pit boards and radios, has to survive the stress and abuse of the entire day. This was the race to prove those words.
There were two Toyotas, two Porsches and three Audis, five of the seven led the race at some point, six of the seven ran in the top three. Toyota will be hugely disappointed that it didn't win when its car and drivers were so, so strong, but they gave Audi the kind of scare we haven't seen since the best of Peugeot's days, and Toyota did a better job of it even in the loss. Porsche blew away everyone's expectations, falling 3.5 hours short of a fairy tale ending that would have made Disney cry.
But Le Mans doesn't really do fairy tales. Well, not that fairy tale. Audi's Twitter handle during the event was #welcomechallenges. As usual, Le Mans answered for the entire field.
Did Lexus make a BMW? Or did BMW make a Lexus? This and other 2017 surprises
Fri, Dec 29 2017It's that time of year again. The calendar is about to reach its end, Star Trek Cats 2018 is about to take its place, and I'm reflecting about all the cars that graced my driveway this year or summoned me to exotic places. You know, like Stuttgart or Phoenix. In 2017, I drove at least 57, and as I perused the list of them, I started to notice a common refrain: "This car surprised me." Most were pleasant surprises, but there were a few head scratchers and facepalms for good measure. In both cases, it was generally the result of car companies seemingly trying to break out of an existing mold. Nowhere was that more apparent than the pair of Lexuses slathered in Infrared paint: The LS 500 that left me this week and the LC 500 that was my favorite car of 2017. Though Lexus has been trying to shake its crusty, gold-packaged reputation for some time now, its efforts always seemed like an old man choosing Hollister to redo his wardrobe after realizing it hasn't been updated since 1987. I fell in love with the LC, genuinely floored by its near-perfect take on the GT. It's characterful in sound, appearance and tactility. It was at home in the city, in the mountain and on the open road. It was both comfortable and thrilling, and after driving the mechanically related LS 500, I can report that the LC's talents aren't an outlier. The LS 500's turbo V6 may make different noises than the LC's naturally aspirated V8, but it nevertheless invigorates the cabin when the car is placed in Sport+ mode. The steering is truly communicative, body motions are kept in miraculous check, and I absolutely forgot I was in an enormous luxury limo ... and a Lexus one at that. It was everything that the BMW 530e was not. I drove that on the exact same roads and was utterly bored the entire time. Generally doughy, lifeless steering, more distant than Planet 9. And no, the plug-in hybrid powertrain had nothing to do with that. At least it shouldn't. The Porsche Panamera S e-Hybrid I also drove this year proves that, as do the Hyundai Ioniqs, which are surprisingly adept and fun little cars regardless of what powers their wheels (Hyundai + hybrid = fun really blew me away). I would drive that Lexus LS F Sport over the BMW 5 Series any day of the week, which seems like a shocking thing to say in relation to either car. While Lexus is seemingly breaking out of its old crusty mold, BMW seems to be climbing into one.
Jim Lentz exposes more details behind Toyota's move to Texas
Fri, 02 May 2014Toyota's North American CEO Jim Lentz has already given us a rough idea of what prompted the company's surprise move to the Dallas suburb of Plano, TX from its longstanding headquarters in Torrance, CA. A new story from The Los Angeles Times, though, delivers even more detail from Lentz on the reasoning for the move, what other cities were considered and why the company's current host city wasn't even in the running.
Of course, one of the more popular reasons being bandied about includes the $40 million Texas was set to give the company for the move, as well as the state's generous tax rates. According to Lentz, though, the reason Toyota chose Plano over a group of finalists made up of Atlanta, Charlotte and Denver, was far simpler than that - it was about consolidating its marketing, sales, engineering and production teams in a region that's closer to the company's seat of manufacturing in the south.
"It doesn't make sense to have oversight of manufacturing 2,000 miles away from where the cars were made," Lentz told The Times. "Geography is the reason not to have our headquarters in California."
