Scottsdale, Arizona, United States

Up for sale is a 2 owner Limited 4Runner that spent all of its life in Arizona.  This is the Top of the Line, LOADED Toyota 4 Runner.  Torsen Differential with locking option (4x4), XREAS Suspension, DAC Control, leather interior, all power, Sunroof/Moonroof, JBL Synthesis Sound System, Heated and Power Seats, Running Boards w. illumination, Rear Radio Control w. Remote etc etc.  This 4 Runner has always been dealer maintained.  We purchased it as a Certified Pre-Owned Toyota from Tim's Automotive Group in Prescott - and that where we did all of the major work.  The following MAJOR services were completed:  Timing Belt and Water Pump are DONE  (at 110900 miles), Infamous Transfer Case Actuator Leak - DONE (not just the seal - the whole thing!), Axle Service and XREAS leak check...The engine starts right up and has ample power.  The V8 is the smoothest work-horse available.  The transmission shifts smooth through all the gears, with absolutely no issues.  The suspension is firm, no pulling or noises, 4x4 functions as it should.  The tires are matching and have about 50% left on them.  Brakes and Rotors have been done at the same time - so they are in great shape. The SUV has a tow Hitch and inside Electronic Brake Control for the Tow Hitch (my wife towed her real estate booth at industry meetings)  The paint is extremely clean, NO RUST, no major dings or scratches.  This is an accident FREE 4Runner, all the panels have matching VIN's and no body work.  The interior is very clean for the year.  No carpet or leather stains - no rips, tinted windows.  Non-smoking interior.  All the electrical/electronics are fully functional, Ice Cold AC (new cabin filter just done), working heat, working Soft-Close rear tailgate.  This SUV will go another 100K with no problems...The 4Runner comes with 2 sets of keys + FOB/REMOTE, original owner's manual and Remote for the back seat radio control.  Clean and Clear AZ title in hand - no liens, no issues, clean CARFAX available to any interested parties.  Can be picked up in N. Scottsdale and driven anywhere (it has current tags and registration).  I expect a NON-Refundable $300.00 PayPal Deposit within 24 hrs after auction's end.  The balance is to be paid in cash, cashier's check or bank transfer within 5 days.  If you are paying by check, the vehicle/title will be released ONLY when your funds clear...DISCLAIMER:  This is NOT a brand New Car/Suv.  I have been on eBay for the last 16 years and I have never disappointed anyone, and I don't intend to start now.  This is a 10 year old SUV - expect nicks, dings, etc etc.  If you are anxious about purchasing online, please take a flight, drive or walk and come here to inspect the car personally BEFORE bidding on it!

This SUV will be sold AS IS and WHERE IS, with no written or implied warranty or guarantees.

Has the auto industry hit peak hybrid?

Thu, 12 Jun 2014

Hybrids are known for their great fuel economy and low emissions, but it looks like given current market conditions, only about three percent of new car consumers are willing to pay the premium for them. A new study from IHS/Polk finds that the hybrid market share among overall US auto sales are falling, despite more models with the technology on sale than ever before.
The study examined new car registrations in March from 2009 through 2014. In that time, the auto industry grew from 24 to 47 hybrid models available to consumers, but market share for the powertrain remained almost stagnant in that time. As of 2009, hybrids held 2.4 percent of the market; it fell slightly to 2.3 percent in 2010 and grew to 3.3 percent in 2013. However, 2014 showed a drop back to 3 percent. Overall hybrid sales have been growing since 2010, but they just aren't keeping up with the total auto market.
According to IHS/Polk, this isn't what you would expect to see. Usually, each new model in the market brings along with it a boost in sales. The growth in hybrid models 2009 to 2014 should have shown a larger increase in share for the segment.

2014 Toyota Highlander to start at $30,075*

Tue, 17 Dec 2013

We now have pricing for Toyota's redesigned 2014 Highlander, which is seeing moderate price hikes across the board. Prices for the popular crossover have been bumped from less than 1 percent to less than 3 percent on lower-end models (anywhere from $125 to $890, depending on trim). Toyota has increased prices on higher-end XLE and Limited models more substantially - between 4.1 and 4.5 percent ($1,480 to $1,700). The Highlander Hybrid sees its price increase 2 percent ($930). The new model will be available in four different trims and with either front or all-wheel drive.
The absolute cheapest member of the Highlander range, the base LE, with a four-cylinder and front-wheel drive starts at $30,075, an increase of just $195. The LE is also available with a V6 and all-wheel drive, with the bigger engine upping the price to $31,380. All-wheel drive models start at $32,840. A slightly pricier LE Plus starts at $33,600 for a V6 FWD model and $35,060 if you add all-wheel drive.
Next up, we have the XLE, which starts at $36,900 for FWD models and moves up to $38,360 for AWD. The top-tier Limited model starts at $40,500 in FWD spec, grips-at-all-fours versions will retail for $41,960. For those that want the very top of the Highlander range, there's the Platinum Pack, which adds the Driver's Tech Pack (adaptive cruise control, pre-collision warning, lane departure warning and automatic high beams), a panoramic moonroof, heated steering wheel and heated second-row seats to the already well-equipped Limited model. Highlander Platinums start at $42,990 and $44,450, depending on how many tires are doing the work. (Note: All prices include an $860 destination and handling charge.)

Ram takes out frustrations on Camry

Fri, May 29 2015

No, not a Ram pickup truck. This is an actual ram, as in a male sheep, headbutting the hell out of a Toyota Camry that made the unfortunate decision to interrupt its battle with a rival member of the flock. Now, before you say, "How dare that Camry harm that cuddly sheep," we'd like to point out just how viciously the two males were fighting before the Toyota butted in. And after smashing the driver's side front fascia, the ram goes right back to attempting to beat down its opponent. All things considered then, we'd call this Ram: 1, Camry: 0.
