This listing is for a 2003 Toyota 4Runner Limited 4WD with a V8 engine and 111,xxx miles.  I purchased this vehicle from the original owner in 2005 when it had 32K miles and I've never had an issue with it.  I've always used Mobil One synthetic oil and it just had an oil change a couple hundred miles ago.  At 95K miles, I had Ron's Toy Shop in Manchester NH do the timing belt service as well as change out the transmission fluid with synthetic.  The truck has new front and rear brake pads and a new battery.  It also has two sets of tires and rims. I bought a set of premium winter snow tires and put them on the stock rims (not shown but included) and then I bought a new set of premium rims and summer tires.  To be fair and honest, it does not need the snow tires, but I have three young kids and the cost of snow tires to guarantee I never have an issue is far less than anything I would pay if something did happen.

Why am I selling it? I'm selling because we have 3 kids, all under age 8, and needed a vehicle with a third row for more spacing.

As for additional options, it comes with the JBL sound system upgrade and 6 disc in dash changer with 2 sets of headphones, moon roof, and tow package which is a heavy duty transmission cooler, upgraded transmission and rear receiver with electrical connection.  The headphones can be used so people in the back seat can listen to a different audio source than those in the front.  There is a remote control that switches that and it's included.  This is a fully loaded 4-Runner Limited.

This truck has incredible towing power and comes with a locking rear differential.  We live on the side of a hill with a steep driveway and in the winter I have had friends come over for a visit and be unable to get up our hill.  I have use a heavy duty tie down strap to tow up a VW passat, a Chrysler minivan and a Ford F150 2wd truck.  The F150 I did with the summer tires as I hadn't swapped them over yet. The V8 actually gets the same gas mileage as the V6, and since I have owned it I have averaged over 19mpg.  In fact, in the three months since I changed the battery I've averaged 20mpg, which can be seen in the picture of the center console.  It's rated to get 15-19, but I have always been on the high side and this is not a highway vehicle for us, it's a people mover.

What's wrong with it?  Nothing mechanically.  The drivers side rear door has some surface scratches from when I once went though an older style car wash and the swishing scrubber things lift tiny scratches that could probably be buffed out.  There is a small spot of beginning rust on the  rear tailgate to the right of the license plate.  Lastly there is a small tear in the drivers side leather seat from getting in and out of the vehicle.  The floor mats have done there job and kept the main carpet looking very good, but they are 10 years old and look it.  I did not shampoo them or anything so it's possible they could look better.  The summer tires have roughly 50% tread left and the winter tires have 80-90% tread left so you won't be needing to buy new tires any time soon.  Lastly, the vehicle report states it was in an accident, "collision with a pedestrian," but I was not.  I got into an argument with someone in a parking lot and after I left the man called the police and said I backed up into him.  I was issued a ticket for unsafe backing which I fought and won, and didn't realize they also put an accident on my record until this listing.  I will see if I can have that removed since I was not found guilty.

If you factor in the extra set of tires, roughly a $1,200 value, it should offset any of the minor defects I mentioned above.  I think this is priced to sell quickly.  If you have a local mechanic I'm fine with having the truck brought down there at your expense.  If you don't have a good local mechanic, I would suggest Ron's Toy Shop, they are the best Toyota mechanic in the southern NH region in my opinion.

MotorWeek proves '90s were awesome with Supra, Stealth, RX-7, Corvette, 968, 300ZX comparo

Thu, 24 Jul 2014

Oh, the heady days of 1993, back when the Clinton Presidency was just getting underway, and it seemed like every hot new rock band was coming out of Seattle. Sports cars in the US had finally shaken off the shackles that slowed them during the '70s and '80s, and you could buy any number of legitimately quick vehicles again. MotorWeek recently went digging into its archives to find this six-model test from 1993 showing off some of the best semi-affordable performance coupes that money could buy at the time, and it's priceless.
Featuring the 1994 model year Toyota Supra in twin-turbo guise and MY 1993 versions of the Porsche 968, Nissan 300ZX TT, Mazda RX-7, Dodge Stealth R/T Turbo and Chevrolet Corvette LT-1, MotorWeek definitely covered all of the bases. One thing that might surprise younger readers is these cars' performance. The video only provides 0-60 acceleration times, but several of these vehicles would still be considered pretty potent today - over 20 years since going on sale. The Supra is especially impressive, hitting 60 miles per hour in just 5 seconds. Even today, that's nothing to sneeze at.
Given their performance potential and still-attractive looks, it's amazing that some of these coupes are old enough to drink now. The progress of interior design and safety equipment in the intervening years is pretty shocking, though. In most of these models, having two airbags is touted as a big deal. Scroll down to watch a Throwback Thursday blast from the past about some of the '90s best sports cars.

More powerful 2017 Toyota 86 takes over for the Scion FR-S

Thu, Mar 17 2016

Scion is dead, and the FR-S name passes away with it. The rear-wheel-drive sports coupe isn't gone, though, because it's now the the 2017 Toyota 86. To match the new moniker, the latest model finally has a little extra power and more aggressive styling. The public debut will take place at next week's New York Auto Show, and sales begin this fall. "When we announced the transition of the Scion models to Toyota we hadn't planned on changing the names of our cars, but by popular demand, for our sports car, we decided to adopt the global name of 86," said Toyota Division Group Vice President Bill Fay. The 2.0-liter boxer-four's output grows to 205 horsepower and 156 pound-feet of torque – increases of 5 hp and 5 lb-ft – on manual-transmission models. The 86 still isn't the turbocharged rear-wheel-drive coupe of some people's dreams, but at least this is an improvement. (Buyers who opt for the automatic will have to make do with less power and fewer pedals.) Toyota also promises "additional performance" thanks to different gear ratios for the six-speed manual transmission, and there's now Hill Start Assist Control. New shock tuning and spring rates will affect the handling, too. The 86 wears a meaner look than the outgoing FR-S. The biggest change is a new front bumper with a large intake that stretches across the coupe's width, and the two sharp points along the bottom look like teeth ready to chomp down. Toyota also replaces the headlights and taillights with LED units. The twist-spoke wheels are a great accompaniment to the more aggressive look, too. The tweaks are more modest inside, including silver stitching and new materials for the dashboard and doors. Toyota will also display the C-HR crossover concept again in the Big Apple. We won't see the production version until later this year, and sales won't begin until spring 2017 as a 2018 model. The former Scion FR-S will debut as the 2017 Toyota 86 at the New York International Auto Show with interior and exterior changes, as well as suspension and powertrain upgrades. The new Toyota 86 will go on sale at all Toyota dealerships this fall.

Toyota recalling 11,200 Scion iQ models over faulty passenger sensors

Wed, 07 Nov 2012

Toyota has announced a voluntary recall of 11,200 Scion iQ models from the 2012 and 2013 model years. According to the manufacturer, the problem with these pint-sized hatchbacks concerns the front passenger Occupant Classification System (OCS) weight sensor cables.
The OCS sensors in the front passenger seat control the operation of things like the airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioner. In these affected models, the cables for these sensors located in the seat track can become damaged as the passenger seat slides forward and backward. And if the cables are damaged, the airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioner may not function properly.
No injuries or crashes have been reported in conjunction with this issue.
