Up for bid is my 1998 Toyota 4Runner.  I bought it used in 2000 from CarMax in Georgia.  At that time it had 60,000 miles on it and I believe it was a 1 owner.  I have since used this as a daily driver and it now has 272,636 miles (at time of auction) on it.  This vehicle has been an awesome workhorse, and it still has lots of life left in it.  I am selling it because I recently bought a new car.  This is the third 4Runner I have owned, and if you know 4Runners and Toyotas in general, then you know how long they last!!!

This has been a non-smoker car, and it is very clean.  I have had no major accidents in this vehicle, only a few small fender benders with nothing damaged or replaced.  There is no rust. I have complete records since my ownership, and I have regularly changed the oil myself. When I first bought the vehicle I used synthetic oil, but then I changed over to regular oil.  It has an excellent set of Michelin's with lots of tread life left on it.  All power options work great which includes, mirrors, locks, windows, sunroof, cruise, tape player/radio,etc.  It has a keyless entry/alarm system with 2 remotes and 2 keys.  I have all owner's manuals. The brakes, transmission and engine all work great too.  The interior is very clean as I am a neat freak!!  Title is free and clear.

Since this is a 1998, it will have some minor problems.  One of the issues which seems to be a Toyota thing is that the paint seems to fade after time.  This has happened on the hood and roof.  It could easily be painted for pretty cheap.  There are also some scratches on the left side door.   Back in 2009, I was told that the valve cover gasket should be replaced, yet here it is 2013 and it still runs fine.  There is some oil seepage from the engine, but as long as you check it regularly and don't mind a little burnt oil smell from time to time, you will be perfectly fine.  I think it might need an alignment, because when you hit 55-60 MPH, it shakes while driving.  It hasn't bothered me, but it is something that will need to be looked at soon.  Since it is over 15 years old, it is going to have normal wear and tear, so expect some cracks in the leather or plastic, dirt on the upholstery and even some broken plastic throughout.  1 wheel cover is missing.  Other than these minor issues, this 4Runner works and looks great!!

I also forgot that the power antenna is broken, however the motor still works.  I replaced one before and it's pretty easy and only costs about $10 for an aftermarket replacement from Ebay.

2014 Toyota Corolla and Tundra production underway

Fri, 02 Aug 2013

After months of leaked photos and speculative reports, Toyota finally unveiled its 2014 Corolla to the world in early July at a star-studded California party. The confetti has been swept up and the champagne flutes washed and stored, and now the real work can begin: production. Toyota has announced that its new C-segment player has begun rolling off the lines at its plants in Mississippi and Ontario, Canada this week ahead of the planned start of sales in September. What's more, the refreshed 2014 Tundra pickup has also segued into production in San Antonio, Texas.
Corolla production in Mississippi is still a relatively recent phenomenon, with the plant having begun assembly of the outgoing model in the fourth quarter of 2011, while Toyota's Cambridge, Ontario plant has been churning out the compact volume king since 1988. Conversely, the Tundra has been in production at the Texas facility since 2006, and Toyota projects that the plant will build its milestone one-millionth new vehicle in September, right around the time the reworked fullsize pickup goes on sale.

Toyota holds onto crown of World's Largest Automaker

Thu, Jan 22 2015

Although there were hints and allegations that the Volkswagen Group might have taken the global sales crown for 2014, the final tally puts Toyota at the top with 10.23 million sales in 2014. We should really say it keeps Toyota at the top, since that makes three years in a row the Japanese company has been No. 1. Volkswagen Group came in second with 10.14 million units sold, General Motors in third with 9.92 million units sold. This the first time for both Toyota and Volkswagen to pass 10 million sales in a single year. Toyota, including its Hino and Daihatsu divisions, did it with a three-percent increase in company-wide sales on the back of strong demand in Japan and the US. Its strength in developed markets might be the reason it loses the title this year, though; Toyota forecasts a two-percent gain in sales outside of Japan, but a nine-percent drop in its home market because of a new consumption tax that encouraged buyers to purchase before the end of last year. On top of that, turmoil in Southeast Asian economies like Thailand and Indonesia depressed sales in 2014 and they're facing more headwinds. The company envisions 10.15 million sales in 2015. Volkswagen, on the other hand, "has a jet engine strapped to its back called 'China,'" where Toyota is out-of-sorts. Volkswagen Group sales fell 2.9 percent in the US last year, while Toyota gained 6.2 percent here. But Volkswagen roped in 3.7 million sales in China, a 12-percent increase. Toyota enjoyed a huge bump of 12.5 percent in China, but that only got it to 1.03 million units, missing its yearly target and leading to trouble with its Chinese dealers over unsold inventory. With Toyota on the Chinese sidelines while Volkswagen guns for No. 1 status and pledges more production capacity in China – sales there are expected to top 25 million units this year – it looks like this could be the year the VW Group takes over the lead. That would be three years ahead of its original target of 2018. An analyst in Japan said Toyota is more focused on "keeping profitability than chasing numbers" – profitability is an issue for VW right now – so Toyota might not be back at the top "for [the] coming years." Incrementally better than ever | 2017 Toyota 86 First Drive

Tue, Oct 4 2016

We'd love to tell you that the incremental upgrades bestowed upon Toyota's rear-wheel-drive coupe as it made its transition from Scion FR-S to Toyota 86 have transformed it into a perfect sportscar. If only a few more horsepower, shorter rear-end gearing, and tiny aero updates were enough to quell all the complaints that enthusiasts have leveled at the machine since the platform first hit the road in 2012, this review would have been so much more satisfying to write. Sadly, that's not the case. Don't get us wrong. The 86 is still extremely fun to toss around a twisty road. The chassis is impressively balanced, the steering is direct, and the shifter is sweet. Sorry to impart upon you this well-worn trope, but the old adage that it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car slow is, in this case, completely accurate. The 2017 Toyota 86 is nothing if not entertaining. But it's not completely new. It hasn't been transformed. It is, in the end, the same as it ever was. It will take about three minutes of your time to watch the videos below, in which we cover pretty much everything that's new for the 2017 Toyota 86. Toyota 86s equipped with manual transmissions get a five-pony boost to 205 horsepower and 156 pound-feet of torque. Automatic models soldier forth with a carryover 2.0-liter four-cylinder that puts out 200 hp and 151 lb-ft. Apparently, more than half of Scion FR-S buyers chose the automatic. That's unfortunate, as it drains a good deal of the fun out of the 86 experience. Choose the manual and you'll be rewarded with an easy clutch and a rewarding short-throw shifter. And, as we said, five more ponies, courtesy of intake and exhaust tweaks and the polishing of some internal engine components. The only upside to the automatic is improved fuel economy of 24 miles per gallon in the city and 32 on the highway. Manual 86s are EPA-rated at 21/28. Along with the small bump in power, the 2017 86 gets a 4.3:1 rear-end gear ratio in lieu of the old 4.1:1 unit. That ought to translate into a small improvement in acceleration that really only matters on paper. In the real world, on actual roads, the difference is negligible. To eke the most out of the 86, you have to constantly work the shifter and keep the engine north of 5,000 rpm. It's still not particularly quick, but it's definitely fun. There's plenty of noise inside the 86, from the wind, the road, and the engine.
