Auction is for a 1993 Toyota 4Runner V6 4x4 SR5 4-door with a manual 5-speed transmission and 195XXXk miles on the chassis.
See points above for specific features. Vehicle had all available options in 1993 except an automatic.
Vehicle has spent it's entire life in the dry Mojave and Sonora Deserts and has really minimal rust (just the "patina" type surface rust on the undercarriage).
-Engine was professionally rebuilt by a factory licensed Toyota dealer (Valley Hi Toyota Honda in Victorville, CA) at 155k miles, and so currently has approximately 40k miles on it. The receipt packet for the work will be provided to the winning bidder. This rebuild included the updated head gaskets to replace the problematic originals.
-Mechanically the vehicle is in excellent shape and runs/drives great. A/C blows cold. Everything works. Synthetic fluids used throughout drivetrain (except trans which requires special fluid). The interior is also in very good shape as can be seen in the pics. Note from the pics that the cloth on the driver's seat is starting to tear in the usual spot for older vehicles. Exterior body is in good shape with very few dents. Note that the paint is in poor condition.
-Vehicle is almost entirely stock with the exception of the rear springs. The OEM rear springs sagged over time and I replaced them with aftermarket leveling springs.
-Has 31x10.5x15 tires with lots of tread left as can be seen in the pics. Has a full size spare which also has good tread. Many steering and suspension components have been replaced recently as well as a rebuilt driveshaft.
-Has a new battery (with warranty) and alternator.
-Vehicle has a salvage title from a 1994 roll-over accident. The frame was NOT affected and the entire vehicle has provided problem-free service to us since we purchased the repaired vehicle in 1995.
-Truck has been used on poorly maintained dirt roads, but has never been abused off-road.
-Has a carpeted plywood tool storage box in the left rear bed area that I have found handy but may be removed easily if desired.
-Includes a box of extra parts that can be seen in the pics.
This 4Runner has been very reliable for us. We recently made a road trip with a trailer from Phoenix AZ to Wichita KS and back (snowstorm included) and the truck exceeded my expectations, even in the snow and ice with the trailer!
With the rebuilt engine, this truck should provide many more trouble-free miles!
Truck is located in Surprise AZ, a suburb of Phoenix.
Serious potential buyers are welcome to make an appointment to view the vehicle prior to auction close.
Questions are welcome!
Thanks for looking!

HQ move based on study, not pitch from Gov. Perry, Toyota says
Tue, 29 Apr 2014Toyota's surprising announcement on Monday that it will move its North American headquarters from Torrance, CA location to the Dallas suburb of Plano, TX is allegedly not due to any political wrangling from the state's Republican governor, Rick Perry.
Perry (above) has been up front in his aggressive pursuit of businesses and jobs for Texas, traveling to California, Missouri, Illinois and New York to tempt corporations to his state. And it's not just about the promise of much lower taxes, a Perry spokesman reminds Automotive News that the state boasts, "a workforce that is skilled and ready to do any job."
For his part, Jim Lentz, Toyota's North American CEO said Plano was chosen through an internal process, with the location helped by its proximity to the company's massive pickup factory in San Antonio rather than any campaigning from the governor.
Five automakers now being investigated by NHTSA for airbag woes
Thu, 12 Jun 2014It appears that Toyota's renotification to owners of recalled vehicles from last year is just the tip of the iceberg for what could potentially be a much larger industry-wide recall. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening a preliminary evaluation investigation into roughly 1.1 million vehicles from Chrysler, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Toyota and parts supplier Takata regarding faulty airbag inflators in several models.
NHTSA has received six reports - three directly, two from Takata and one from Toyota - of vehicles with ruptured airbag inflators from 2002-2006, which resulted in three injuries. So far, all six incidents have occurred in high humidity areas like Florida and Puerto Rico. According to Toyota's latest recall announcement, the inflators may have an improper propellant that could cause it to rupture in a crash and the bag to deploy abnormally.
This new investigation follows a previous recall from April 2013 of about 3.4 million vehicles worldwide for the airbag inflators from Takata. As Autoblog reported, Toyota jumpstarted the new situation when it found that the original list of serial numbers for the faulty part was incomplete and discovered more cars in need of replacement. Honda and Nissan told us that they were investigating whether further models would need called in again as well. Mazda told Autoblog: "Regarding the current Takata situation, we're working closely with NHTSA and investigating the situation, but nothing else to report at this time." Chrysler Group responded to us with the statement: "Chrysler Group engineers are conducting the appropriate analysis. The Company will cooperate fully with the National Highway Traffic Administration."
Autoblog's Editors' Picks: Our complete list of the best new vehicles
Mon, May 13 2024It's not easy to earn an “EditorsÂ’ Picks” at Autoblog as part of the rating and review process that every new vehicle goes through. Our editors have been at it a long time, which means weÂ’ve driven and reviewed virtually every new car you can go buy on the dealer lot. There are disagreements, of course, and all vehicles have their strengths and weaknesses, but this list features what we think are the best new vehicles chosen by Autoblog editors. We started this formal review process back in 2018, so there's quite of few of them now. So what does it mean to be an EditorsÂ’ Pick? In short, it means itÂ’s a car that we can highly recommend purchasing. There may be one, multiple, or even zero vehicles in any given segment that we give the green light to. What really matters is that itÂ’s a vehicle that weÂ’d tell a friend or family member to go buy if theyÂ’re considering it, because itÂ’s a very good car. The best way to use this list is is with the navigation links below. Click on a segment, and you'll quickly arrive at the top rated pickup truck or SUV, for example. Use the back button to return to these links and search in another segment, like sedans. If youÂ’ve been keeping up with our monthly series of the latest vehicles to earn EditorsÂ’ Pick status, youÂ’re likely going to be familiar with this list already. If not, welcome to the complete list that weÂ’ll be keeping updated as vehicles enter (and others perhaps exit) the good graces of our editorial team. We rate a new car — giving it a numerical score out of 10 — every time thereÂ’s a significant refresh or if it happens to be an all-new model. Any given vehicle may be impressive on a first drive, but we wait until itÂ’s in the hands of our editors to put it through the same type of testing as every other vehicle that rolls through our test fleet before giving it the EditorsÂ’ Pick badge. This ensures consistency and allows more voices to be heard on each individual model. And just so you donÂ’t think weÂ’ve skipped trims or variants of a model, we hand out the EditorsÂ’ Pick based on the overarching model to keep things consistent. So, when you read that the 3 Series is an EditorsÂ’ Pick, yes, that includes the 330i to the M3 and all the variants in between. If thereÂ’s a particular version of that car we vehemently disagree with, we make sure to call that out.
