1991 Excellent Toyota 4 Runner - Colorado - Needs New Alternator Belt - No Res on 2040-cars
Fairplay, Colorado, United States
PLEASE READ ENTIRE AUCTION TEXT BEFORE BIDDING!!!! BE A RESPONSIBLE AND INFORMED BIDDER!!! PAYMENT IS DUE IN FULL WITHIN 24 HOURS OF CLOSE OF AUCTION!!! THIS IS A GREAT NO RESERVE DEAL ON A GREAT TRUCK THAT NEEDS A NEW ALTERNATOR BELT, BUT DON'T BID IF YOU ARE NOT READY TO MAKE THE PURCHASE AND HAVE FUNDS ON HAND!!! THIS IS A 1991 TRUCK AND MOST BANKS WILL ONLY LOAN MONEY ON TRUCKS NEWER THAN 1994.
I bought this truck last year after my Honda Civic got trapped in our neighborhood near Estes Park Colorado when the big 2013 floods washed out all the roads. The only access in to our house was a poor condition jeep trail through the national forest. This truck drove my family up to the house and back several times crawling up some gnarly Jeep trails with no issues at all. It has great tires on it, pretty close to new when I bought the truck ($600 worth of tires). 4WD works like a charm. Mileage is about 17mpg on the highway and 12 to 14 on back roads. Handles snow like a dream. Engine starts every single time without any issues. Since I haven't got the new alternator belt put on you will need to tow the truck home to do the work yourself or hire a mechanic. Truck is located in Fairplay Colorado which is exactly 70 miles from edge of Denver up Highway 285. We have a local mechanic who is great and could replace the belt if you want to hire his shop. I think he charges 80 or 90 bucks an hour but has a full shop and stays busy enough it might take him a week or two to get to it. This truck is excellent for car camping and outdoor gear hauling with room for two plus gear and dog etc to stretch out inside. It performs great even at high altitudes (like 1200 feet for instance). My wife and I and our two kids had to move after the floods and moved to Fairplay Colorado. I drove Colorado Mountain Express vans all winter taking people from DIA airport to the ski areas and I had to drive 50 miles each way to work and back in Silverthorn, CO crossing over Hoosier Pass at 11,500 feet. This truck made the trip reliably every morning and evening through snow and ice until the alternator best gave up. I called AAA and had it towed home where it is still parked because I started driving my Honda Civic again and bought a Ford F350 to have a good contractor pick up truck for the summer construction season. I don't really need to pay insurance on three cars and I need money to get my wife's art gallery business going strong so I am selling this great truck "As Is" hopefully to someone who can handle the job of installing a new alternator belt. There are good videos on UTube of how to tackle that project but I've just been too busy with everything else to get into it. Payment is due in full within 24 hours of the close of the auction with the $500 deposit by Paypal and the rest hopefully in cash. Once it is paid for you can take the truck away right away or leave it where it is for a few weeks, but I would like to see it gone by the end of July. Comes with a clear Colorado Title. Its a great older 4Runner and with some TLC can probably drive for a few hundred thousand more miles. The auction is a no reserve auction that will go to the highest bidder no matter the price. Please do not bid more than you have on hand to spend, and be aware that banks usually will not offer financing on vehicles older than 20 years old. That's a mixed bag, because it means that the blue book value drops off a lot as soon as these trucks get past the 20 year mark even when they are still low mileage and in great condition, so if this truck were a 95 or 97 or whatever it would probably be a 6 or 7 thousand dollar truck. Because it is a 1991 it is only blue book value of 2 or 3 thousand dollars even though this one is in much better condition and basically the same exact truck as 4Runners from the late 1990s. So this is the way to get a super awesome 4X4 at a fraction of the price of a newer model of the same truck but you have to pay for it with cash because you cant get bank loans on trucks this old and that's why the blue book value is so low. Truck has Power Steering, Power windows, Power Locks and on the fly four wheel drive (Don't have to get out and rotate the hubs) With the 4WD and the big tires and high ground clearance and fairly fuel efficient engine these trucks are made to be super awesome 4X4s on rough roads but they don't go super fast up steep mountains on the interstate because all the power is engineered toward torque and climbing power rather than highway speed. Truck has "Premium All Terrain Big Foot Tires" 31X10.5 R015 SLT 5 ply (In other words super crankin awesome 4X4 tires) and mag wheels and SR5 V6 engine with excellent rock crawling power. Only issues I can think of are the dome lights and I think the cigarette lighter socket don't work. I think that is just a fuse that needs to be changed out but I haven't checked to find the burnt out fuse. Also could be a bad light bulb or bad wire or something. Please call me if you have any questions. William (970) 319-4361 BID WITH CONFIDENCE!!! Auction closes Monday evening about 6 pm Colorado time (8pm Eastern or 5 pm Pacific) so get your best bid in early or set the alarm on your smart phone to get in on the last minute bidding. Again, I am only selling this great old 4X4 because I need the money, so please be ready to pay for it within 24 hours. I am available by phone and can fax or email a copy of the title as well to you for your security. Also check out my 100% positive feedback on more than 100 Ebay transactions including high dollar things like boats, motorcycles and cars. 2015 Toyota Yaris
Thu, 25 Sep 2014Advertising firms have done an admirable job convincing consumers that the easiest way to find a best-in-segment car or truck is by looking at a few key metrics. In the most elementary terms, the vehicle with the highest horsepower, most gears in its transmission housing, lowest acceleration times and best fuel economy most certainly must be the class benchmark.
Yet as the commercials and billboards continue to drive that deceitful message, Toyota is betting shoppers in the subcompact segment are a bit more discerning. The Japanese automaker has just launched its updated 2015 Yaris, a three- and five-door offering that bucks the innovation and performance trends by offering what Toyota feels that entry-level buyers actually desire - reliability, practicality and a low sticker price.
It's sweltering in the tropical Hawaiian sun as I check out the deeply refreshed 2015 Yaris SE. This five-door hatchback, a range-topping version of the company's subcompact "sporty hatch" (Toyota's words, not mine), builds on the new-in-2012 generation by wearing new front and rear fascias, redesigned headlights and some attractive new wheels for the upcoming model year.

The UK votes for Brexit and it will impact automakers
Fri, Jun 24 2016It's the first morning after the United Kingdom voted for what's become known as Brexit – that is, to leave the European Union and its tariff-free internal market. Now begins a two-year process in which the UK will have to negotiate with the rest of the EU trading bloc, which is its largest export market, about many things. One of them may be tariffs, and that could severely impact any automaker that builds cars in the UK. This doesn't just mean companies that you think of as British, like Mini and Jaguar. Both of those automakers are owned by foreign companies, incidentally. Mini and Rolls-Royce are owned by BMW, Jaguar and Land Rover by Tata Motors of India, and Bentley by the VW Group. Many other automakers produce cars in the UK for sale within that country and also export to the EU. Tariffs could damage the profits of each of these companies, and perhaps cause them to shift manufacturing out of the UK, significantly damaging the country's resurgent manufacturing industry. Autonews Europe dug up some interesting numbers on that last point. Nissan, the country's second-largest auto producer, builds 475k or so cars in the UK but the vast majority are sent abroad. Toyota built 190k cars last year in Britain, of which 75 percent went to the EU and just 10 percent were sold in the country. Investors are skittish at the news. The value of the pound sterling has plummeted by 8 percent as of this writing, at one point yesterday reaching levels not seen since 1985. Shares at Tata Motors, which counts Jaguar and Land Rover as bright jewels in its portfolio, were off by nearly 12 percent according to Autonews Europe. So what happens next? No one's terribly sure, although the feeling seems to be that the jilted EU will impost tariffs of up to 10 percent on UK exports. It's likely that the UK will reciprocate, and thus it'll be more expensive to buy a European-made car in the UK. Both situations will likely negatively affect the country, as both production of new cars and sales to UK consumers will both fall. Evercore Automotive Research figures the combined damage will be roughly $9b in lost profits to automakers, and an as-of-yet unquantified impact on auto production jobs. Perhaps the EU's leaders in Brussels will be in a better mood in two years, and the process won't devolve into a trade war. In the immediate wake of the Brexit vote, though, the mood is grim, the EU leadership is angry, and investors are spooked.
