I am selling my 1989 Toyota 4Runner SR5 4x4 V6, 5 Speed here on eBay to the highest bidder. Only 94k original documented miles!
I am a collector of vintage Toyota's and have had several Land Cruisers, 4Runners and various trucks over the years. I find very nice vehicles enjoy them and then sell them when I move on to another. I have sold several here on eBay with 100% satisfaction so bid with confidence.
The background on this incredible 4Runner is as follows:
Purchased new in San Luis Obispo, CA in 1989 by a retired couple to use to flat-tow behind their new motor home. Over this time it was flat-towed for over 40k miles and well maintained and always garaged while not being towed. They installed a really high quality tow-bar and period correct aluminum running boards and left the rest of the truck bone stock. The first owners kept a log book of all gas fill ups and services performed but its been misplaced. Not many service records come with the truck but if you know these trucks you'll know it been very well cared for.
The second owner (also from San Luis Obispo County) bought it about 16 years later with 58k miles. Which means it really had only been driven around 15k miles or so as the rest were towed. He drove for the next 10 years and put 35k miles on it. He also cared for it extremely well and either kept in his shop or his very nice carport on his ranch to preserve the truck.
I then purchased and have really enjoyed it, kinda want to keep but just tight on space right now. It's now in Santa Barbara, CA. It's got a clean CarFax with no accident history and proof it's lived in California.
This might be one the best 89's still available. Pretty much 100% stock except for the added tow-bar and running boards. The condition of the truck and the way it drives is simply AMAZING! I really can't put into words how nice it is but I'll try.
It runs, drives, shifts, brakes, etc. like a 50k mile 4Runner. There are no issues of any kind mechanically to mention. The 4x4 shifts super smooth, the brakes are strong and it brakes straight and true. The power from the V6 is superb. I just had it smogged and it passed very strict California emissions barley registering anything. It's always been a California truck and therefore it has no rust issues. The only thing to note is the front skid plate and A-arms have few chips from being flat-towed.
The exterior is easily a 9/10. I don't think I have found any door dings or dents on the entire truck. The 100% original paint is in fantastic shape. The only exception is the rear tailgate on the upper edge has a bit of fade you can see in the detailed photos. The decals have held up very well and barley have any fade. It it wasn't for these two issues you could say it's a 9.5/10. The top has never been removed and is basically perfect with no fading or chipping. There is no evidence of any body work and all VIN stickers are present. The original windshield has a small crack and one chip but it's been that way for 9 years so I left it alone. The BFG all-terrains are the second set of tires and are decent but older so it could use new tires. The Toyota Aluminum Alloys are near perfect with original center caps.
The interior is easily a 9.5/10. There is hardly any evidence of use in the back seat and cargo areas. The front seats are nearly perfect as is all the carpet. Check out the headliner and roll-bar, just like the day it left the factory. The dash has zero cracks and overall interior shows very little wear. Really it's one of the best 80's interior I have ever seen, it looks new. Everything works from the cold AC, the cruise control, factory radio (sounds great), wipers, rear power window, HVAC, lights etc. Again really no issues to mention. The passenger seat flips forward perfectly and the manual windows roll smooth and it has the awesome vent/wing windows. The rear seat headrests are missing and I haven't bothered to find replacements. The center armrest leather is really the only item showing any kind of wear but its minimal.
The spec as I know them:
1989 Toyota 4Runner, V6, 4x4, 5-Speed, SR5 model with chrome package. Charcoal Gray Metallic paint, gray cloth interior 3.0 V6 5-Speed Automatic hubs 4 high and 4 low transfer case Front disc, rear drums Receiver hitch with 4-way flat wiring Toyota Aluminum Alloy 15" wheels Bug/wind deflector AM/FM factory radio with cassette Etc.. That's what I can tell you about this awesome 4Runner. It really is superb and probably one on the nicest ones you'll come across. But it is a 25 year old vehicle so don't expect perfection but it might be as good as it gets.

The 2011 earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan took quite the toll on the automotive industry in that nation. Not content to lean on that tragedy as excuse for slagging sales, the Japanese automakers are planning on a major production expansion in North America. The aim is to reclaim the market share lost from the Tsunami-based dip, and overcome a dollar/yen exchange rate that makes exporting to America unprofitable.
Following the Tsunami, Japanese automakers ramped up production in their North American facilities to compensate, but according to Automotive News, Nissan, Honda and others have all reported plans for still-further increased production in the year ahead. As part of this ramp-up, Mazda will open a facility in Salamnca, Mexico before March of 2014. Part of that increase in output is 50,000 units of a Toyota-badged compact car, which Mazda will produce.
Other Mexican production facilities opening include a Honda plant, which will open in Spring 2014 in Celaya, and a Nissan plant, set to open later this year in Aguascalientes. Nissan also said that it will need another plant in North America within the next five years. According to Nissan Boss Carlos Ghosn, the company aims to raise its stake in the US market from 8 percent to 10, and adding production will help achieve that goal. Even Mitsubishi is aiming to boost production at its Normal, Illinois plant. Production of the Outlander Sport is currently at 50,000, which Mitsubishi wants to raise to 70,000.

Many Americans view their 30th birthdays as significant milestones, even though the average life expectancy here is more than 2.5 times that age. So you might think Toyota would be keen to party over the 30th anniversary of its 4Runner, since most models don't even live to half that age. You can put that idea away unless you consider discounts of $500 to $1,000 something worthy of cake and kazoos, since it appears that's all the birthday SUV will get. That's right, not even a trim-and-tape special edition or so much as a sticker. We asked Toyota for comment and were told they had "No other 30th anniversary 4Runner items to announce at the time."
So, about those incentives: they climb from $500 on the SR5 and Trail editions to $750 on Premium models and $1,000 on the Limited trims. Toyota says they're available at dealerships now and will last for the entire year. There's a press release below with a little more background, and there's a sad violin playing somewhere in the distance.
Disappointed, party of one, your table is now ready...

"Oh yeah, Toyota still makes the Tacoma." Admit it, that's what you just said to yourself. It's a perfectly natural reaction, but the Tacoma has been quietly anchoring its segment for years, outselling every other compact pickup without making too much of a fuss. Toyota hasn't neglected the Tacoma - it was updated in 2012 with a revised nose and interior as the most noteable changes.
In a world awash with high-value fullsize pickups all vying for your attention, the Tacoma still charms more than a few buyers out of their cash. I hooked a Tacoma for a week to see whether it still has enough to recommend it.
