1988 Toyota 4runner Sr5. 5.0 / 302 Conversion. Very Clean on 2040-cars
Jacksonville, Florida, United States
I am selling my beloved Toyota in order to get an economical car. It was
my daily driver until I purchased a newer truck. It is very clean and
in great condition for a 26 year old truck. It is not a ragged out
beater. It is the original paint and has zero body work. There are a
couple of small minor rust spots shown in the pictures. The interior is
in very good condition. The center console has a small tear and the dash
has just recently developed a small crack. There are no tears or holes
in any of the seats. There are a couple of small electrical glitches
that I never got around to fixing b/c they were minor.
The engine was rebuilt by Fox Engines here in Jacksonville. Basically stock but with an RV cam and full roller rockers. Truck has 37, 000 miles on rebuilt engine and transmission. A 3" body lift was installed In order to clear the V8. There is a rebuilt Ford AOD transmission with an Advanced Adapter to a '85 Toyota transfer case. There is a B&M Quicksilver shifter. Auto meter gauges sit on the dash where the factory optioned ones would go. An add-a-leaf was added to the rear springs to eliminate the factory sag. All this truck needs is a good paint job and some tlc to make it a cherry ride. Serious inquires only. May consider full or partial trade for a nice 4 cylinder car but don't waste my time with crap. $5, 800.00 OBO. The rear bumper, basket and Optima battery are not included with the truck. The battery has been replaced with a standard lead acid cranking battery. |

Cosworth announces Power Packages for Subaru BRZ, Scion FR-S with up to 380 hp [w/video]
Sat, 31 May 2014Cosworth stands on the list of the most famous engine tuners in the world with its DFV engine engine dominating Formula One for a time in the '70s. So when it teases plans to take on the FA20 engine from Subaru and Toyota found in the BRZ, Scion FR-S and Toyota GT86 abroad, our interest is indeed piqued. Cosworth is promising to take the 2.0-liter, four-cylinder boxer engine from its current 200 horsepower all the way to 325 hp and even 380 hp in a future track version through a series of staged Power Packages. At the moment, only the first stage is available that takes the mill to a potent 230 hp.
Cosworth says that its new strategy is to offer its upgrades in kits rather than individually so that it can be sure that everything works and fits when owners receive it. The Stage 1 Power Package emphasizes helping the FA20 breathe better and includes a nearly complete replacement for the stock exhaust system. There is a sports exhaust with four-inch, diagonally cut, polished tips and Y-shaped muffler, an overpipe front pipe with a spherical resonator and a new manifold header that is 22 percent lighter the standard unit. In addition to that, the kit comes with a software reflash, low temperature thermostat, Cosworth badge and plaque.
The stage one kit is available now, and stages two and three go on sale later this summer, according to its website. Autoblog contacted Cosworth for pricing information for the kits. We will update this story, if we hear back. The company also released a video showing off the exhaust upgrades. Scroll down to watch it and read the full release, below.
Toyota recalls 690,000 Tacoma trucks for rusty leaf springs, fire risk
Mon, 29 Sep 2014Toyota has announced that it will be issuing a recall of 690,000 Tacoma pickups from model years 2005 through 2011. The affected vehicles include both the four-wheel-drive model and the two-wheel-drive PreRunner (but not the standard 4x2 pickups), which may have a rather serious problem with their rear suspensions.
In some cases, corrosion and stress could cause one of the three or four leaves in the rear suspension's leaf springs to fracture. While the trucks can still be driven with a broken leaf, Toyota is concerned that it could move out of position and impact other components in the rear of the truck, with a particular focus on the fuel tank. Needless to say, but a piece of metal continuously impacting anything, let alone the fuel tank, is cause for concern.
As of this writing, there have been no reports of crashes, injuries, fires or deaths due to this problem, although that won't stop Toyota from informing all affected customers of the issue. Those 690,000 owners will need to report in to dealers for inspections and, if necessary, repairs.
Watch a Toyota Highlander ram a house, twice
Mon, 15 Apr 2013Toyota has had plenty of problems in recent years due to claims of unintended acceleration, and now here's a video that actually catches such a claim on video. The driver of this 2010-2013 Toyota Highlander claims that the crossover's accelerator got stuck causing the vehicle to slam into the house twice, and resulting in damage to the Highlander, the house and two vehicles inside the garage. While we don't know when this accident took place, the video was uploaded to YouTube back in January.
It is impossible to determine what actually happened in this video, but what we do know is that a security camera captures the Highlander slowly pulling into the driveway before it lunges forward slamming into the garage. With the tires squealing and metal crunching, the driver then shifts between reverse and drive a couple times causing even more property damage before spinning out in the street and finally being able to shift into Park. Scroll down to see the video for yourself. Whether unintended acceleration or driver error, this was undoubtedly a harrowing ordeal.
