2005 Toyota 4runner Limited Sport Utility 4-door 4.7l on 2040-cars
Bradenton, Florida, United States
2005 Toyota 4Runner Limited in Dorado Gold Pearl over Taupe leather interior. This version has the 4.7L V8, 5 speed automatic transmission, and rear wheel drive. Currently has about 146,000 miles but looks and drives great. If you are looking for a 4runner then you probably already know what amazingly capable and dependable vehicles they are. If you are looking for a SUV and aren’t looking for a 4runner, you should be. Check some classified listings to see how many miles these trucks will go for and still hold their value. This is why you want one with a V8: Incredible motor that was designed to serve in both trucks and luxury sedans so you get power, reliability, and refinement. The V6 version doesn’t save you much in MPG and won’t have the kind of power on demand that this does. This is why you want a 2005: V6 models get upgraded from a 4 speed transmission to a 5 speed version. The V8 got a 35 horsepower boost to 270 HP / 320 lb/ft with no sacrifice in fuel economy thanks to variable valve timing. This is why you want a Limited edition: You get these standard features not on SR5 models: Leather interior with 8-way power driver’s seat and 4-way power passenger seat, sunroof, 120V power inverter, upgraded instrument cluster illumination, heated front seats, dual zone climate control, auto on/off headlights, JBL Synthesis premium sound system with 6-disc in-dash CD/MP3 player, silver and granite interior trim with leather trimmed shift knob, and double-decker cargo shelf system. This is why you want this one: We purchased it from the original owner in 2008. She drove up and down I-75 delivering brochures and her husband owns an auto shop so the car had highway miles and was maintained properly. A search of Toyota’s service records shows the replacement of the power lumbar motor as the only non-routine item in the first 100K miles. Since purchasing, we have kept up on the maintenance with regular Mobil 1 oil changes and other items as needed. We had the timing belt replaced and it isn’t required again until 180K miles. This has been a great truck that served us well but we are looking at getting either a 4WD version of this or it’s fancy cousin, the Lexus GX470. The car has no drivability issues and everything works as it should. There is the usual wear and tear associated with a vehicle of this age; some rock chips, a small scratch on the rear bumper, and some fading on a couple of the plastic fender flares. The only disappointment in the car is the cracked dashboard. Apparently Toyota hasn’t figured out how to make one that stands up to the heat as I’ve seen it on most of the other Lexus / 4Runners that we’ve been shopping for. Front tires are getting worn but can be worked into the deal. The car is being driven daily so mileage will increase. $500 non-refundable deposit due within 24 hours of purchase. I shouldn't have to put pages of legal disclaimer here: if you make an offer and it is accepted, you are expected to buy the car and I'm expected to sell it to you. Have your inspections or financing completed first. I am happy to assist with shipping or inspections but this must be arranged before purchase. I'm also happy to take more pictures of any specific areas so you know exactly what you are getting. |

Japan considering offering free hydrogen cars because $30k incentives apparently not enough
Wed, Aug 6 2014There's no such thing as a free lunch. A free hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle, though? It may become a possibility in Japan, says Automotive News. We know the Japanese government is being plenty supportive of hydrogen vehicles since it will provide about $20,000 worth of incentives to prospective customers of the $69,000 vehicle. And with local governments like Toyota City's Aichi prefecture supplying another $10,000, out of pocket costs could reach less than $40,000 for the Toyota hydrogen car. We don't know for sure that the 'free' H2 car will happen, but with Toyota starting sales of its first production FCV next spring (potentially named Mirai), it could happen. That would also spell good news for Honda, which will follow up Toyota's effort for its own hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle. The case for the free car is still pretty tenuous. Automotive News, citing the Nihon Keizai business publication, reports that the Japanese government has thrown around the idea of subsidizing the vehicles outright to early adopters just to gain some momentum for this kind of zero-emissions vehicles. Heck, the government would even throw in free fuel for good measure. We'll see about that. To see some of the official hydrogen excitement, click here for a video of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe taking a Toyota fuel cell vehicle for a brisk test drive. Toyota increasing Yaris Hybrid production to 222,000 this year in France
Mon, Feb 24 2014More fuel economy means more factory workers and more production for Toyota's most popular model in Europe. That simple equation explains why the Japanese automaker is boosting annual production of its gas- and hybrid-powered Yaris compact vehicles at its French factory. The new number will be about 222,000, a 15 percent increase. To do that, Toyota will need to add about 500 workers to bring its total there to more than 4,000, UK's The Green Car Website says. Vive le Toyota! Toyota updated the European Yaris in the middle of 2011 and added a hybrid version later that year, the model has many fans across the pond. It helps that they hybrid is rated (using the friendlier European standards) at a whopping 81 miles per gallon, a tremendous number for a car that costs approximately $26,000. Toyota could soon have a bit more room in the small hybrid segment, since it was reported recently that Honda would discontinue European sales of its Insight and CR-Z hybrids soon. That decision was made easier because of increasing competition from Toyota, which boosted hybrid sales in Europe last year by 43 percent. In contrast, both the CR-Z and Insight experienced more than a 60-percent plunge in European sales in 2013.
Recharge Wrap-up: First EV to attempt Dakar Rally, Mazda makes bioplastic parts

Jonway sells its SUV and minivan in Lima through Dai-Ichi Motors, which displayed the cars at the show. According to the companies, their cars "received tremendous interest from the public," including private citizens as well as groups who would use the EVs for security guard service or campus use. Read more in the press release below. California is the US leader when it comes to EVs. In 2013, California had 70,000 battery electric and 104,000 plug-in hybrids. The state boasts almost half of the country's electric vehicles, thanks largely to state and local EV incentives that go beyond the federal tax rebate. California also leads the way in legislation, and nine other states have adopted California's ZEV mandate. Washington, Maryland, Georgia and DC also have their own EV incentives, while some utility companies also offer benefits for EV owners in other states. Still, EV sales have only made up about 0.7 percent of new vehicle sales in 2014. Read more at the US Energy Information Administration website. Toyota will be using landfill gas to help power its Kentucky manufacturing facility. Beginning in 2015, Toyota's Georgetown assembly plant will use electricity converted from landfill-sourced methane gas from Waste Services of the Bluegrass. It will provide enough energy to produce 10,000 vehicles each year. Plus it diverts methane - a greenhouse gas - from entering the atmosphere and helps improve the local air quality. Learn more in the video or Toyota's press release below. Mazda has developed a plant-derived bioplastic for making exterior and interior parts. The dyed plastic doesn't require painting, and it reduces petroleum consumption and carbon emissions in the manufacturing process. The bioplastic will be used for interior parts in the all-new MX-5 before being put into use on the exterior of future vehicles. Mazda will display prototype parts at the Eco-Products 2014 exhibit in Tokyo. Read more in the press release below. Acciona will enter the first-ever zero-emissions vehicle (pictured) to compete in the Dakar Rally. The vehicle uses an electric motor and lithium ion batteries, as well as solar panels to power telemetry and security systems. The Dakar Rally will take place from January 4 through 17 through Argentina, Chile and Bolivia. See Acciona's Dakar EV in the video and read more in the press release below.
