2000 Toyota 4runner Must See, Excellent Condition, Supercharger, 4 Runner on 2040-cars
Holland, Michigan, United States
If you’ve been looking for a good deal of a great 4Runner
this is the auction you’ve been looking for, and NO it’s not a typo…IT’S IN
MICHIGAN!!!! I bought this truck back when there was a lot of snow on the
ground. I travel a lot for work and wanted a 4X4 for the bad Michigan winter.
Now that the weather is better I see no reason to continue to pay insurance for
2 vehicles so it’s time for the 4Runner to go. It’s a 2000 SR5 V6 (5VZ FE) with a Toyota supercharger. The
truck and motor (3.4L) have approx. 198K, and the super charger has approx.
60K. The previous owner, who use to be a Toyota mechanic, installed it, along
with a new timing belt, about 60K ago. This is my first experience with a supercharger, and this
truck runs better, faster, and with more torque than any other Toyota I have
ever owned, and I love the low pitched
whine it make when I accelerate. But, like I said I have no reason to pay for 2 vehicles so
my loss is your gain…..here’s the specs. Exterior: The truck is 15 years old, but as you can clearly see from all
the pictures it has been VERY WELL taken care of. There are a few spots of
surface rust starting to show, the seam between the body panel and the rear
bumper, the rear bumper, and a few other spots I’ve taken pictures of. The rocker
panels on both sides have some pretty bad rust spots, under the vehicle, out of
view, unless you’re looking for them. Other than that, the finish is fantastic,
some paint chips that have been touched up, but, the best looking 15 year old
4X4 I’ve ever seen. The wheels have some
road rash, very repairable minor surface scratches. The tires are new, as you
can see from the pictures, the receipt for them is in the glove box. They only
have about 15K on them, and have recently been rotated. The emblems on the back
of the truck have been removed, and the rear taillights have been replaced with
black-outs, there are black window guards, black bug guard, and a front brush guard,
black, which makes for a fantastic look. Interior: The condition of the interior is also fantastic, there is a
rip in the rear seat, and a stain in the cargo area, other than that it’s near
perfect. There are no rips in the driver’s seat where that usually wear out,
the original cargo cover is still there, and fully functional. There is an
aftermarket AM/FM/CD/DVD/GPS touch screen in the dash, and the dash panel has
been filled out to fit it. This truck is incredibly clean even under the rear
seats are spotless. The floor mats are aftermarket but they look good in the
truck, front and rear. Everything in the truck works fine, PW, PL, PM, moon
roof, heat, and cold AC, the rear window goes up and down, all gauges work
fine, and the dash lights for ABS, 4X4, OD Off, cruise, brake, and everything
else are functional, and there are NO warning lights on as you can see from the
picture of the truck going down the road. Under the Hood: As you can see from the photo’s the motor is clean (well
taken care of), the timing belt cover had to be notched to fit the
supercharger. There is a K&N air filter, just cleaned. I had to replace the
knock sensors, so I also put in new plugs (1 step colder, as recommended for
the supercharger), wires, PCV valve, drive belt, and all new gaskets. I had to
replace the battery, see receipt. I also installed a remote starter. The latch
for the hood is sticky and doesn’t always latch the first time. Overall: There is one small chip in the bottom of the windshield, out
of view, and the power antenna has been replaced with a rigid mast antenna, but
reception is fine. The clear coat around the hood scoop is starting to peal. I
had the oil changes done at the dealership, and they did a thorough inspection
of brakes, suspension, etc., and found no problems. I have the Car Fax for the
truck, there was one small incident
that lists as minor damage but otherwise a clear report. I will email it upon
request. The emergency brake doesn't work. Although this truck has almost 200K on it, based on my
opinion of the condition of this truck, it has at least another 100K left on
it. And possible more if you continue to take care of this truck. The photos are the best representation of this 4Runner I
could get, but if you have any questions or would like to request specific
photo’s please let me know. No 0 feedback bidding unless approved by me. A $500
non-refundable deposit is required at the close of the auction and the vehicle
must be picked up within 7 days of completed auction Thank You, and Happy Bidding |

Toyota close to licensing deal with BMW for fuel cell technology
Wed, 23 Jan 2013For over a year now, we've been hearing about a potential partnership between Toyota and BMW on everything from sports cars to lithium-ion batteries, but one of the first cooperative projects between these two automakers could bring Toyota's hydrogen fuel cell technology to a BMW vehicle. Reuters is reporting that an announcement is likely to be made as soon as later this week regarding a BMW fuel cell vehicle that could be in production by 2020 with a prototype running around by 2015.
The last we heard of Toyota's fuel cell technology, it was in the FCV-R Concept that we saw at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show, but there is no word how far along in development this system is. If it does come to fruition, such a vehicle for BMW would build on the automaker's commitment to hydrogen that started with the Hydrogen 7, which unlike a fuel cell vehicle, simply ran on hydrogen fuel rather than converting it to electricity for use in motors. We're definitely interested where this Toyota/BMW tie up could be headed.
Toyota wants you to meet an 'obsessed' hydrogen fuel cell engineer
Thu, May 8 2014Like a television-broadcasting company covering the Olympics, Toyota is looking to market its future in hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle production by taking the personal approach. In this case, the Japanese automaker is telling the backstory of Jackie Birdsall, an engineer at Toyota Technical Center who Toyota says is "obsessed" with fuel-cell technology. A Sacramento native, Birdsall is responsible for testing fuel-cell vehicles and making sure hydrogen stations fill the tanks of the cars in a "reasonable" timeframe. Long a gearhead, she attended Flint, MI's Kettering University (formerly General Motors Institute) and, among other places, worked for the California Fuel Cell Partnership before joining Toyota in 2012. Her first car was an '87 Camry. That's one personal side of Toyota's hydrogen push, and shows another way Toyota is introducing the world to this new powertrain (see also: winter performance). The nitty-gritty is made up of things like working with FirstElement Fuel Inc. on a hydrogen-refueling network in California. As for its fuel-cell sedan, which was displayed in FCV prototype form at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January and is due next year, Toyota said it expects the car to have a full-tank range of about 300 miles and a five-minute refueling time. That's if Ms. Birdsall has anything to say about it. Check out Toyota's press release about Birdsall below. Talkin' 'Bout a Revolution A healthy obsession leads Jackie Birdsall and TTC to the forefront of history The word she keeps using is "obsessed." Jackie Birdsall became "obsessed" with cars when she was a teenager. That made her "obsessed" with the history of auto icons like Henry Ford and Lee Iacocca. In 2003, she did an internship with Daimler-Chrysler, leading to an "obsession" with hydrogen fuel cell technology. And now, as an engineer at Toyota Technical Center, Birdsall is "obsessed" with bringing fuel cell technology to the masses. But perhaps you need to be obsessed when you're trying to change the world. After all, revolutions don't blossom from complacency. Leading an alternative fuel revolution is just what Birdsall and her partners on the Fuel Cell Hybrid Vehicle team are doing. Collectively, they're finding tangible ways to reduce fossil fuels in the automobile world and figuring out how hydrogen fuel cells can be useful and affordable. In 2015, that obsession will bear fruit when Toyota's FCV hits the markets in California, Japan and Europe.
Toyota, Honda, Mazda and Nissan recall 3.4 million vehicles for faulty airbags
Thu, 11 Apr 2013Most vehicle recalls that take place these days are a result of some problem that happens during the manufacturing process by the automaker, but as we see here, parts suppliers can also factor in to problematic safety issues. Automotive News is reporting that a total of 3.4 million vehicles produced by Japanese automakers between 2000 and 2004 are being recalled globally due to faulty airbags produced by an outside supplier, Takata Corp.
According to the report, vehicles from Toyota, Honda, Nissan and Mazda are being recalled because of passenger front airbags that do not inflate properly. Globally, Toyota is said to be recalling around 1.73 million cars including 510,000 in the US composed of Toyota Corolla, Matrix, Sequoia and Tundra as well as the Lexus SC430 for the 2001 through 2003 model years; this is the second time this year the 2003 Corolla and Matrix have been recalled for an airbag problem. Honda is recalling 1.14 million models, Nissan another 480,000 and Mazda 45,463. The article says that Takata supplied faulty airbags to non-Japanese automakers, but it did not specify which ones.
Honda and Toyota have released information on their own websites about the recall, while Nissan and Mazda have not yet commented. Read official press releases from Honda and Toyota, below, and look for updates as we have word from the others.
