1990 Toyota 4runner Sr5 4wd Auto – Historic Classic Needs Work on 2040-cars
Suitland, Maryland, United States
Automatic transmission, 4WD option, V6 3VZE engine, no after-market
mods except rims 167,XXX Original Miles (11,XXX on rebuilt engine). (Yes, I still drive her around, too! Mileage
will change) Clean title in hand FENDER-BENDER VICTIM! There is some damage to the front (shown in pictures) that is not
minor, but not really major. Details below… I’m only selling this truck because I don’t really need her
anymore. I’ve had her for about 6 years,
always maintained and driven sanely. My
kid has gone from college dorm to apartment, so I have nothing to haul anymore (hallelujah!).
I’m severing my attachment for the sake
of practicality. The Good: ·
Green Paint still shines! ·
All-American steel rims still solid, with wheel
locks. ·
Goodyear Wrangler SRA deep-tread tires are very
meaty with only about 14kmi of use (Originally $900 for the set). ·
Rebuilt motor installed at 158k miles, runs
strong, synth-blend oil only (almost due for change). ·
Transmission shifts smooth, 4WD is strong and
sturdy. ·
There are no leaks anywhere! ·
Interior is great for its age. Nothing major
wrong with it, but I’ll list the small stuff with the bad… ·
If you’re a Dallas Cowboys fan, you’ll love the
accents! (If you’re not, they come off easy, and I’ll keep the flag!) ·
This truck is registered “Historic” in
Maryland. Cheaper tags, cheaper
insurance, no emissions testing, and no inspection! Should qualify for most states (check yours). Overall this is a GREAT 24 year-old truck that needs some TLC to keep
rolling another 100k miles! The Bad: ·
The exhaust needs to be replaced from the
catalytic converter to the tailpipe >$600 total. ·
The stabilizer bar is bent slightly. Costs about
the same to repair or replace the part >$100+ labor. ·
Interior:
Clock and cigarette lighter don’t work. Mechanic believes there’s a break in the line
somewhere because all the fuses are good. I’m not pulling the dash because I
never used either one, so…). There is a small
hole in the right backseat cushion.
Smaller than a nickel, probably from a cigarette. Been there since I bought it. The factory radio
works, but occasionally jumps stations for no reason to whatever you have on
Preset #4. The cassette does not work,
and 3 out of 6 factory speakers work. Power
windows and locks all work, except the rear window comes off track sometimes
when lowering. Always gets back on track
with a helping hand, and does not leak or cause other problems. ·
AC needs charge (I rarely used it), but it works. ·
Windshield wiper fluid tank is cracked, won’t
hold fluid. (I found one for $30, but forget to get it, haven’t looked again
since). Actually, it’s not so bad for a 24 year-old truck! I’d keep her, but my
wife is like… well, anyway… The Ugly: ·
The bumper assembly, grill and hood were damaged
in a fender-bender. Bumper and grill
have to be replaced, and costs vary $125+. The hood can be hammered down. Still
latches, just a bit bent (not crumpled).
One headlight bulb went out because the lens was cracked. I already have two new ones. I haven’t gotten any appraisal to fix this because I’m selling her
instead. But, I do drive this baby occasionally,
just to keep her active. She’s always
been great in bad weather. But, now she’s going to the highest bidder! AS-IS! I will show the vehicle locally in Clinton, Maryland (Prince George’s
County), BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. I am willing to deliver the vehicle within 50 miles of zip code 20735
ONLY IF PAID IN FULL! PAYPAL OR CASH
ONLY! Fake bidders WILL be
reported. |

2017 Toyota 86: The car so nice it's been rebadged twice
Wed, Feb 3 2016When the dust settles and the Scion brand is no more, the car we currently know as the Scion FR-S will be rebadged. Again. If you remember the excitement that surrounded the Toyobaru/Subota rear-drive sports coupes' introduction, you'll recall that Scion's Subaru BRZ twin landed in here as the FR-S. That car, along with the new iA and iM, will get a stay of execution next year when the brand bids adieu. We know it will wear a Toyota badge in dealers from then on, and there's a good chance it will get the 86 badge European models wear. Toyota's version of the car goes by several different names depending on the market. It's only a Scion in North America, while it's sold as the Toyota 86 (in Asia, Australia, New Zealand, South America, and South Africa), Toyota GT86 (in Europe and New Zealand again), and Toyota FT86 (in Nicaragua and Jamaica). The 86 part of the name is a nod to the rear-drive AE86 Corollas of the 1980s. That's a history lesson Toyota likely won't have to teach its core demographic. Then again, this car's core demographic probably already bought one. There's also a possibility that this car will get yet another name combination: Toyota FR-S. For the sake of simplicity, let's hope not. View 7 Photos So yes, the rebadged 86 will be re-rebadged back to a Toyota. Functionally this means almost nothing. Buyers who were ordering badge-swap kits from overseas will save some money. Some enthusiast forums might need to change their names. And people visiting from Japan or Europe will feel a little more at home when they see a rear-drive Toyota sports car on the street. Meanwhile, FR-S – a name that may or may not have stood for "front-engine, rear-drive, sport" – will be quickly forgotten. Related Video: Scion Toyota confirmed toyota 86
Toyota GT86 CS-R3 rally car presages for-sale customer racecar
Thu, 31 Jul 2014Rallying may enjoy a very strong association with all-wheel drive, but it wasn't so long ago that the World Rally Championship was populated by cars that slipped and slid across gravel and tarmac using rear-wheel drive. One of those was the Toyota Celica. While the little Celica eventually joined the gravel-spewing masses with an all-wheel-drive rally car, Toyota is returning to its rear-drive rally roots with a modified version of the critically acclaimed GT86.
Called the CS-R3, the new model boasts all the necessary changes to turn the diminutive twin of the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ into a car capable of tackling the tough, twisting paths that are so routinely conquered by the world's rally cars. That means, of course, the CS-R3 has gotten a power bump.
Expected output sits between 240 and 250 horsepower, thanks to a new racing exhaust and manifold, as well as other changes. The ECU has been replaced with an item a bit more suited to racing, while the compression ratio has also been adjusted to boost the output.
Toyota recalling 1.9M Prius models globally for software update
Wed, 12 Feb 2014Toyota has announced a set of voluntary recalls covering 960,000 Prius, RAV4, Tacoma and Lexus RX350 models in the United States to address two separate issues. Worldwide, Toyota will have to recall a total of 1.9 million Prius cars.
The Prius recall affects about 700,000 2010-2014 models in the US, due to a fault in the motor/generator control ECU and hybrid control ECU software. It says that the current software could result in high temperatures on certain transistors and possibly damage them. When it fails, the error forces the car into failsafe mode. Toyota says that in rare circumstances, it could even shut the hybrid system down while the car is being driven.
Toyota spokeswoman Shino Yamada told Automotive News that the software update should take about 40 minutes, and dealers would start to be notified about affected vehicles today. She also told them that the first reported glitch occurred in May 2011 in the US when the system overheated and the car entered failsafe mode. The affected cars were built between March 2009 and Feb. 5, 2014, according to Automotive News. Toyota says that it has received no reports of accidents or injuries caused by either fault.
