1989 Toyota 4runner Sr5 4x4 Sport Utility 2-door 3.0l Automatic on 2040-cars
Laredo, Texas, United States
Up for sale is a highly desired 1989 Toyota 4Runner SR5 V6 4x4. This is the last year that they made these 2 door convertibles and this has a great looking body. This truck is perfect for a restoration as the only small sign of slight rust I see is under the battery tray. I bought the truck and took it home but have not had the time or budget to do what I intended with it (getting married). This is, in my opinion, one of the best 4x4s ever made and has the potential to be very fun. It's a beautiful truck and it wont take much to get it back on the road. Everything looks good and original as the vin tags are still one the front fenders and hood. This has a clear title and even has the factory wheels still looking good. To my knowledge this truck has been parked for at least 5 years and according to the AutoCheck report it has only been used for 15k miles since 2005. The good news about that is that is has sat in South Texas and has never really been in snow. No accidents reported on AutoCheck. Serious bidders only as I will set the price fairly where I believe it should be for this unique vehicle. Clear title truck Shipping will be entirely up the buyer and full payment must be received within 5 days of auction end unless prior arrangements have been made. Payment must be completed before the vehicle is picked up. No personal checks. A $500 deposit must be received within 48 hours. I have not turned this truck on so I cant be certain of the condition of the motor. I have not even put a new battery in it. I spoke to the previous owner one time about 3 years ago and he said he thought it needed a head gasket and then someone else told me it needs a fuel pump. I would prepare for the worst case just to be safe. Bid with confidence and ask questions before hand. This truck is for sale locally so this auction may end without notice. Please contact me directly for other offer considerations. NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING |

Toyota produces millionth truck in Texas
Thu, 19 Sep 2013After going online in 2006, Toyota's San Antonio, Texas truck plant has just built its one-millionth vehicle, the 2014 Tundra 1794 Edition you see above. The plant originally focused on just the Tundra pickup, but the smaller Tacoma started rolling off the line there in 2010, as well.
Fittingly, the 1794 Edition (a new premium trim level for 2014) pays homage to the property on which the Toyota plant now resides - a ranch that was founded in 1794. Scroll down for the official press release for the plant's milestone, and be sure to check out the full gallery of Tundra 1794 Edition images as well.
Toyota discontinuing FJ Cruiser after 2014 model year
Tue, 20 Aug 2013The Toyota FJ Cruiser is not long for this world. According to the manufacturer's own fleet website, the rugged FJ will be discontinued after the 2014 model year, with the companies final orders due in June of next year.
Toyota first launched the FJ Cruiser in 2006 as a 2007 model, and aside from minor year-over-year changes, it has not been substantially updated. The FJ is the modern successor to the original FJ40 Land Cruiser that Toyota produced from the 1960s all the way up through 1984, when the automaker decided to better focus on its larger, four-door Land Cruiser line. Currently, it uses a 4.0-liter V6 engine with either rear- or four-wheel drive, and is available with either a five-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission. Interestingly, word of the FJ's demise comes not long after Toyota's US boss, Bill Fay, reaffirmed his company's commitment to body-on-frame trucks in late July.
Also of interest, Toyota's fleet website states that the 2014 model year Prius range will have "minor updates," though it's unclear what those are as of this writing. When Autoblog reached out to confirm these developments with Toyota, spokesman Curt McCallister reminded us, "As is our corporate policy, we don't discuss future products beyond the present or upcoming model year."
Toyota, Lexus to build more CUVs to meet surging demand
Sun, Jan 18 2015What was the biggest takeaway from the auto industry's 2014? Besides the fact that recalls are now a sad and mostly unremarkable part of a vehicle's life, it's that you can't be a competitive, mainstream brand in the US without a really strong line of crossovers, SUVs or pickups. We saw evidence of this as recently as Monday, when Hyundai unveiled its HCD-15 Santa Cruz Concept, and now we're seeing it again with Toyota. The company already has a comprehensive lineup of both mainstream and luxury CUVs and SUVs, although surging demand – sales were up 16 percent last year, Bloomberg reports – has led the company to increase its production tempo at the plants responsible for the RAV4 and Lexus RX. "The freeze is still in place until the end of March of 2016," Toyota's Jim Lentz told Bloomberg during this week's Detroit Auto Show, referencing the production bump at the Japanese and Canadian factories responsible for the models. "That hasn't changed. All indications are that it will lift, but right now it has not lifted." The increased sales are even spurring the brand to consider additional CUVs, including a compact that would slot in below the RAV4, Lentz told the business publication. Such a move would give Toyota a player in an increasingly competitive and important segment. In 2014 alone, mainstream brands, including Honda, Mazda, Chevrolet and Jeep, have announced brand new products destined for the compact CUV market. "We're going to have to look at how the market under RAV4 develops," Lentz told Bloomberg. "There's no question that it's going to. That's going to be the next growth spurt." Related Video:
