Here is the most desirable of all the 4Runners; the 1985 with fuel injection and a solid front axle!  Just get on YouTube and search 4runners and see how many with carburetors bog down!  If you are serious about off roading than obviously the solid front axle is the way to go.

I would love to keep this but I found a replacement for my 92 Accord wagon which gets much better gas mileage.  This is such a great platform for whatever you want to build.  It is rough around the edges as you can see from the pictures, but overall it is in pretty good shape.  You can tell it has been a Colorado vehicle since the rust is minimal.  There is rust around the rear wheel wells, but that is the worst of it.

It runs a bit rough and I'm not sure why.  When I test drove it it would die when I would slow down to turn a corner.  The guy I bought it from suspects the distributor. He also said that it doesn't do this once it is warmed up.  I haven't confirmed this so bid accordingly.   The check engine light goes on and off intermittently.  It starts right up without any smoke or bad noises.  It stops well and steers well but as you can see from the photos it needs tires.  You were going to replace the tires anyway when you added the lift kit, right?   The rear power window works with both the inside switch as well as the key in the door.  Glass is in pretty good shape although the latch on the sunroof should be replaced.

I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.  PLEASE ASK ANY QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING OR MAKING AN OFFER!  As you can see in my feedback some jerk left negative feedback when all he had to do was clarify some things with me before he bid.  I will do my best to answer any questions that you have.  This vehicle has a clean Colorado title.  I will be leaving town June 25th - July 7 so plan on arranging shipping prior.  If you need to wait to pick it up or have it delivered we can certainly discuss that as a possibility.  Thanks for looking and enjoy the auction!

Dubai claims debut of Toyota GT86 sedan concept

Sun, 03 Nov 2013

Typically, when the organizers of an auto show reveal that a new car will debut at their show, we take notice. But this particular claim from the Dubai International Motor Show ought to be taken with a grain of salt.
As our compatriots at AutoGuide discovered, the Facebook page for the Emirates auto expo includes a post with an interesting claim: that a sedan based on the Toyota GT86 (known in the US as the Scion FR-S) will debut at the show. The Facebook post is accompanied by the image above, purporting to show the concept in question.
The strange part is that the organizers claim the four-door GT86 concept will make its "regional unveil" at the Dubai show, which would seem to indicate that the concept in question would make its international debut at an earlier show. Considering that the doors open in Dubai on Tuesday, that seems increasingly unlikely. All of this begs the question, If this isn't actually a four-door GT86, what might it be?

Toyota passes BMW as most valuable car brand

Tue, 21 May 2013

An annual market study of the strongest brands across various industries has seen Toyota leapfrog BMW as the world's most valuable automotive brand. Toyota's 2013 brand value rose to $24.5 billion, up 12 percent versus 2012 numbers according to market research company Millward Brown's BrandZ Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brands list. BMW's value fell slightly; down by 2 percent to a total of $24 billion.
Mercedes-Benz finished in third place in the automotive category, up 11 percent from 2012 for a valuation of $18 billion. Honda ($12.4 billion, down 2 percent) and Nissan ($10.2 billion, up 3 percent) rounded out the top five for the category. Volkswagen was the only other auto brand that finished in the top 100 overall, in 100th place. Audi made the greatest percentage gain over 2012, up 18 percent to $5.5 billion, but finished outside of the top 100.
Technology companies dominated the overall list, with Apple, Google and IBM ranking one through three. Couture brand Prada was 2013's biggest gainer, rising by 63 percent over 2012.

Toyota CamRally is vanilla spiced

Tue, 05 Nov 2013

We weren't quite sure it was possible, but NASCAR driver Parker Kligerman and the other folks behind this Toyota Dream Build Challenge vehicle (check out the other cars in the challenge) have made the Camry, a versatile but vanilla family sedan, into a performance car to be reckoned with. And by stripping it (literally) of its versatility and injecting some spice into it, this rally-spec Camry does indeed appeal to the enthusiast crowd.
The appeal starts with the CamRally's vintage Toyota racing colors of red, orange and yellow painted on a widened body. Those wide fender flares and rocker panels, paired with the revised front and rear fascias (and massive rear spoiler), lend the car an aggressive look without being tacky, and enhance the aerodynamics. But peel back the skin and you'll find plenty of performance upgrades to back up the looks.
While Toyota doesn't say how much horsepower it makes, the CamRally's V6 is turbocharged, and we assume the car's brake upgrade is indicative of the engine's increased output. The stripped interior only contains what's needed for rally racing, including bucket seats, a motorsport steering wheel covered in Alcantara, a carbon-fiber dashboard and a roll cage.
