Turbo Charged Samurai Rust Free, Clean, Super Fast 4wd, 5spd on 2040-cars
Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, United States
"The Fastest Samurai" $20000 plus invested Turbo RX-7 Rotary rebuilt painted polished and fresh RX-7 5 speed With 300 high revving horsepower this is the fastest samurai you will likely encounter short of drag dedicated rigs. Very streetable manners even with rear locker. This rig will break loose both 35's while rolling. I tuned this rig for the Sand Dunes of St. Anthony's in Rexburg, ID, but still be a sleeper, street style rig. It drives very nicely on the street and has a stiff 4x4 feel. The 35's are best off road but if someone wanted a daily driver out of this you could live with the Mudders but obviously the ride is substantially better with AT's or other less aggressive tread styles. I have used only a couple times in the sand and mostly grocery getting around town so the build is very fresh on every nut bolt and joint. It has been fun blowing away tuners, Porsches, diesels. Definitely surprises all who run across it. Super Nice body Rust Free Cleared Metallic Blue with very subtle dark ghost flames Only minor nicks and superficial scratches Custom bumpers front and rear Gears front and rear locker rear vinyl seats with tactical covers in good shape floor covering in good condition rear seat, folding and good shape bikini Top (only top included) Black hood waiting for right air scoop to be mounted Moly axles Double Cadron rear drive shaft OME shocks Spring over stock leafs (stiff for street) Front links Polished Weld Wheels 16's New Buck Shot mudders Wide Spacers all around Magnaflow Muffler Extreme Clutch (firm pedal feel very strong and smooth) Boost EGR Oil preasure, Water temp gauge cluster Small auxiliary Spots Added Overall condition is excellent and shines at show quality but has blems from time here and there on paint that are minor. Must see to appreciate, feel, and experience for yourself. Much, Much faster and better than V6's or V8's I will try and answer all reasonable questions. I will answer all questions for serious bidders with feedback history. $1000 non refundable deposit due at close of auction. Balance due 7 days or other agreed upon arrangement. Vehicle is stored securely, indoors when not in use. If your question goes unanswered please resubmit or rephrase. This vehicle in its current configuration should be considered an offroad racing vehicle first and a street legal daily driver second. I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere exactly as it sits. |

Meet the Jeep Wrangler's tiny Japanese doppelganger, the Suzuki Jimny
Wed, Aug 23 2017We're all eagerly anticipating the 2018 Jeep Wrangler, but it's not the only two-door, body-on-frame off-roader coming out in the near future. Suzuki has its own on the way by the name of Jimny (no, that's not a typo). Long ago, we received the Jimny here in the United States as the eminently capable, though tipsy, Samurai. The Samurai was followed here by the more civilized Sidekick/Tracker, which eventually took on its original name of Vitara. But overseas, the rugged, truck-like Samurai survived as the Jimny. This newest version looks to retain much of its predecessors' capability. In addition to the body-on-frame chassis, it features a solid rear axle. Odds are that it will continue to offer a part-time four-wheel-drive system with a low-range, as with the current one. We can't quite tell if it will still have a solid front axle, though. Styling-wise, the new Jimny does seem to have tougher, chunkier looks than the current one, pictured above. The corners have been squared up, and hard creases added to the flanks. The wheel wells are now more square and look to have bigger flares. We're also noticing some retro touches such as the roof that isn't flush with the rest of the body. The taillights mounted in the rear bumper are also reminiscent of the old Samurai. As nifty as the little Jimny is, we can safely say that we won't be getting it here — Suzuki doesn't sell cars here anymore. But even if Suzuki were still operating in the U.S., we probably wouldn't get the Jimny. It would probably be too crude for most buyers, and it could be tricky to get it to pass safety regulations. Its tall, narrow shape also could be rollover prone, and Suzuki wouldn't want to go through another rollover controversy. But hey, in roughly 25 years, you can import one of these if you really want. Osamu Suzuki announces retirement at age 91
Wed, Feb 24 2021TOKYO — Suzuki's 91-year-old chairman, Osamu Suzuki, announced he will retire in June, stepping aside for a new leader to navigate the shift to electric cars and fight off competition from tech firms such as Tesla and Apple. The chairman, after heading for more than four decades the company that his wife's grandfather founded, is leaving his son Toshihiro Suzuki, already president and CEO, to hold the reins of the company. Osamu told reporters on Wednesday he decided to retire after the company welcomed its 100th anniversary last year and its new management plan won approval. But he said he will "remain active" as an adviser. "I will neither run away nor hide," the patriarch said, who has repeatedly declared in the past he will be a "lifelong non-retiree." The company also announced on Wednesday it will invest one trillion yen ($9.45 billion), mostly on electrification technology, over five years. The younger Suzuki said the company needed to respond to a global push towards lower emissions. "Carbon neutral is the focus now. Suzuki must not fall behind this global trend," he said. The announcement by Japan's fourth-biggest automaker comes less than a week after rival Honda appointed a new CEO, who said he would consider alliances to make bold decisions. Carmakers, particularly smaller players such as Suzuki, are seen at a disadvantage due to the huge cost of developing EVs and technologies such as autonomous driving. Suzuki, alongside other automakers such as Mazda and Subaru, tied up with Toyota in 2019 to slash development and manufacturing costs. Osamu Suzuki, who joined Suzuki Motor in 1958, became president in 1978 and doubled as chairman in 2000. During his tenure, the company solidified its presence as the top maker of compact cars. He spearheaded the company's decision to enter its key Indian market in 1983. Maruti Suzuki, which the carmaker owns a majority stake in, is India's top carmaker, selling every second car in the country. In 2016, Suzuki stepped down as CEO to take responsibility for the firm's use of incorrect testing methods to calculate vehicle mileage, but he remained chairman. Osamu, who waved and said "bye-bye" at the end of Wednesday's news conference, will be appointed as senior adviser upon retirement.
Remembering Suzuki of America... in commercials
Wed, 07 Nov 2012American Suzuki Motors is leaving us, but as long as the lights are on at YouTube, its commercials will stay behind to remind of the times we shared. We dug up nine commercials - sort of like a Time Life infomercial for an entire brand - and among the starring actors are the X-90 improving the 90s with the help of a Pez dispenser, the Peter Pan-ish Sidekick, Optimus Prime getting his pipes all smoked up over the 1987 Samurai and an XL7 that would have sold in the millions if its commercial were even half true.
We've also included a remarkably oddball eight-minute featurette/commercial about a giant Suzuki Swift. You'll find the retrospective in the videos below. Enjoy.
