Suzuki Samurai Jx 4x4 1988.5 on 2040-cars

Year:1988 Mileage:102305
Location:

Moody, Alabama, United States

Moody, Alabama, United States

Up for auction is a nice 1988.5 samurai.  Most of this Sammy's life was spent behind a motor home. This Sammy has never been off pavement. There is no rust that I have found anywhere on this vehicle. There is a dent in front left side of bumper from tow bar (see pic) also some sort of touch up paint has been applied under the handle on rear tailgate door, also see pic. There is a few minor scratches on vehicle that are expected for a vehicle of this age.
The motor runs out great with no smoke what so ever, engine cranks very quickly and easy even in cold weather. Every seal and gasket has been replaced on motor within the last 800 miles along with timing belt, idler pulley, plugs, wires, distributor cap,Venturi tube in carb, fuel pump etc. (have all receipts) has new factory style/size white wall tires, new top with tinted windows on top, ( have original factory top from 1988 as well) , new brakes, steering stabilizer, poly bushing for shifter in transmission and transfer case, pioneer CD player, 2" trailer hitch receiver, spare tire mounted on tailgate with cover, front (bra) used when towed behind motor home, has back seat that also folds up or can be removed, has all original factory carpet.
Seats have covers over them due to thread in original seat covering seems have turned loose. The small door on dash above vent is missing, and plastic hinge on glove box is broke.
Underneath Sammy is all factory original, it still has the factory paint on underside of body and frame that matches the outside of body( very rare to see now days)
Also have rebuild kit for transmission and transfer case, new clutch, and a new flywheel. I bought all this thinking it needed to be rebuilt due to a whining noise, turns out the noise was water pump and timing belt tensioner and I never returned these parts. The transmission, transfer case and clutch are all quite, tight and in perfect operating order. Vehicle runs well enough to drive across country but is speed demon, 65-70 is all Sammy will do safely, or with me driving it anyway.it is getting around 28 mpg around town, cost around $21 to fill up.
Chrome beauty rings on wheels do have a bit of old surface rust on them.

Japan's Suzuki, SkyDrive sign deal to develop, market 'flying cars'

Tue, Mar 22 2022

TOKYO — Japanese automaker Suzuki Motor Corp and 'flying car' firm SkyDrive Inc said on Tuesday they have signed a deal to team up in research, development and marketing of electric, vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. In a joint statement, the two companies said they will also work to open up new markets with an initial focus on India, where Suzuki has a roughly half share of the auto market. Suzuki announced on Sunday it plans to invest 104.4 billion rupees ($1.37 billion) in its India factory to produce electric vehicles and batteries. The companies didn't disclose details of investments in their partnership, nor outline any production timetable or target. Founded in 2018, Tokyo-headquartered SkyDrive counts big Japan businesses like trading house Itochu Corp, tech firm NEC Corp and a unit of energy company Eneos Holdings Inc among its main shareholders. In 2020 it raised 5.1 billion yen ($42 million) in total in Series B funds, according to its website. SkyDrive is currently engaged in the development of a compact, two-seating electric-powered flying car with plans for full-scale production. The statement did not say whether Suzuki would be working on this specific vehicle. The company, which is also developing cargo drones, aims to launch a 'flying car' service in Osaka in 2025 when the Japanese city hosts the World Expo. For Suzuki, the partnership will add 'flying cars' as a fourth mobility business, in addition to automobiles, motorcycles and outboard motors, the statement said. Suzuki Jimny four-door caught in new spy photos

Wed, Jul 6 2022

Modern car buyers really seem to have moved on from two-door vehicles. First coupes of all kinds disappeared, and now traditionally two-door SUVs have sprouted extra pairs of doors (see Wrangler and Bronco). The latest to join the trend is the tiny Suzuki Jimny, which has been spotted in Europe with four doors. This more practical Jimny also has grown in length to accommodate its extra doors. Interestingly, the front pair appear to be the same size as those on the two-door model. The rear doors are a fair bit smaller. Still, access to the back should be easier than on the shorter model, and both leg and cargo room should be substantially improved. It also retains the very short overhangs, which is good for approach and departure angles, but the longer wheelbase will mean it can be high-centered more easily than its shorter counterpart. Jimnys in the past have been available with a small amount of body variety. For a long time, it was available as a convertible, and some long wheelbase variants were produced. Aftermarket companies have also made their own changes to the SUV's shape. But four full doors from the factory seems to be a new step for the Jimny. Also, the fact that it's testing in Europe with left-hand drive suggests it will be a model offered in global markets, and not just in Japan. Sadly, it will still not come to the U.S. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.

Ugly Moto makes beautiful motorcycle art [w/video]

Thu, 08 May 2014

Ugly Moto is a horrible name for a company that makes such wonderful motorcycle art. The creation of artist Francis Ooi, the company's illustrations focus on some of the iconic racing bikes of the 1960s and 1970s.
The artwork has an elegant simplicity that really makes it pop. It would fit just about anywhere from a home office to the bedroom of a young gearhead. Ooi has completed six illustrations so far covering classic cycles from Honda, Ducati, Yamaha and even Harley-Davidson. According to his site, the Suzuki RGB500 ridden by Barry Sheene will be the next one released. All of the prints are priced at $65 and are limited to 100 copies. They are all about 16.53 inches by 23.58 inches in size.
According to his website, these prints are just a hobby for Ooi and his real career is as the creative director at an ad agency. He creates the illustrations on his Mac, and he estimates that each design with about 800 components and layers takes about a month to complete. You can get idea of the process involved in the time-lapse video below.
