1988.5 (Square vent) Suzuki Samurai Hardtop
Picked this up after it had been sitting for 3 years, PO had just installed:
New Clutch, new clutch cable, new throttle cable.
Vehicle was towed behind a motorhome for years so actual 'engine use' mileage is less.
1.3L carb'd SOHC engine runs well, new O2 sensor and A/C equipment removed
5speed trans works well, has typical 'slop', 4X4 and locking hubs work perfect
Usual squeaks and rattles, Clean NC title in mt name, Registration paid for 1 year and dirt cheap to insure (my policy was $57 for 6 months!)
Recent work I have done:
-New Rugged Ridge Grey Cloth Drivers and Passenger Seats (Drivers installed, Passenger arrives in the next 72hrs and will be installed prior to sale)
-Interior was stripped and Coated in Stain Black Rustoleum
-Vehicle sheetmetal corners and door bottoms filled with Sound/Moisture/Vibration resistant AutoFoam
-Entire floor/doors and Headliner covered in FatMat Sound Deadening
-New Grey Vinyl Marine-Grade Door Panels and Rear panels (OK fit, not perfect)
-New Custom matching Grey Cloth headliner
-New Custom Grey Complete carpeting snap-in by a known Porsche restorer
-Exterior lightly sanded and primed in Rustoleum Satin Black
-New interior door latches
-New Rear Bumper
Was going for FUNCTIONALITY, not looks on this build. Can be painted by the new owner or left in current Black Anti-rust primer.
Some minor rust sanded off on hood edge/door bottoms. One area eaten thru behind drivers rear wheel ground out and filled with foam, sealed from both sides.
Rear seat removed and disposed off all carpeted. Windows bars reinstalled and roof bar reinstalled. Heat and Fan works all gauges work, no stereo.
Weather stripping on door but needs plastic clips to hold it in place better. Exterior originally White (see underhood pic) and Interior was Brown, so seat belt fabric and dash are still Brown)
CHEAP to maintain and operate, RARE hardtop model! I drive it daily, there are some suspension squeaks and clunks, tires are OK, original rims 15", brakes great, has the occasional 'clicky start issue' but always runs, and cool (1/2 or less on Temp gauge regardless of driving style or ambient temps)
Missing inside door pulls and needs windows felt trim to seal/quite them properly.
Included:
-New exterior mirror and door handle
-New front rotors in box
-New Stainless Steel Rocker Covers
-NEW Black Window Cranks

Four seniors to drive around world in pair of Suzuki Jimny SUVs for charity
Fri, 29 Mar 2013Plenty of us here at Autoblog have designs for epic drives. Whether it's bouncing around the country in an old International or heading from Alaska to Chile on a bike, we like to think we have big aspirations. Or at least we did until we heard about these four gentlemen. You see, Leslie George Carvall, Alan Butler, Glyn Maher and Charles Scott are all in their 70's, and they plan to pile into a pair of Suzuki Jimny SUVs and drive around the world. Sort of makes a hike across country seem like a trip down the block to the local corner store. They're calling it "The Ultimate Challenge," and they plan to undertake the journey for two reasons.
First, they want to prove that age shouldn't stand in the way of people doing what they want to do. Second, the group hopes to raise funds for the 'Heaven Can Wait I'm Busy' group, which aims to direct money toward worthy charities both in the UK and around the world. Save the Children and Oakhaven Hospice are the two currently designated charities.
The trip gets started in just three days, and you can head over to the effort's site to track their progress. The route should cover some 16,500 road miles and 10,375 sea miles. You can also catch up with the project on Facebook.
2016 Suzuki Baleno is the 'ultimate' hatchback [w/video]
Wed, Sep 16 2015Suzuki unveiled its iK-2 concept at this year's Geneva Motor Show to imagine an inexpensive, compact hatchback for the future. Now just a few months later the Japanese brand has brought that shape to production largely unaltered with the Baleno. The company claims that it's trying to create the ultimate small car, and European customers get to find out in spring 2016. The Baleno doesn't break new ground in five-door hatch styling, but it's an unpretentious and handsome take on the traditional two-box look. The front end flows in an arc up to the windshield, and from the A-pillar back, the design sports a chunky, utilitarian shape. The interior looks somewhat staid with a lot of black plastic and cloth, but silver trim mixes up the monotony. Underneath the new look, Suzuki is making some big improvements. The Baleno rides on a new platform with less weight and more rigidity. The powertrain range also includes the brand's latest 1.0-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine with 110 horsepower and 125 pound-feet, and it can be hooked up to either a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic. There's also a 1.2-liter four-cylinder with 89 hp and 89 lb-ft available with the same five-speed or a CVT. In addition, the mill is offered with as a mild hybrid with an Integrated Starter Generator. Suzuki says this option boosts acceleration at low speeds but doesn't specify how much extra power there is. Check out the company's promo video below to see the Baleno in motion. INTRODUCING THE BALENO Sep 15, 2015 When Suzuki set out to create a hatchback like none before, it first established a key guideline—hold back on nothing. The result is the Suzuki Baleno, a harmonious combination of styling that flows, superb performance achieved through ground-breaking technologies, and smart packaging. To create a new, bar-raising hatchback that is fun to drive and engineered to meet today's consumers' needs, Suzuki wanted to take the compact car to the ultimate level. Baleno chief engineer Kunihiko Ito explains: "We set our sights on developing the ideal hatchback, one that makes no compromises, giving it an elegant, sophisticated and grown-up character.
Suzuki tunes up tiny concepts for Tokyo Auto Salon
Mon, Dec 28 2015When counting Japanese automakers, don't forget Suzuki, which has a trio of new show cars lined up for the Tokyo Auto Salon in a couple of weeks. First up is the Water Activity concept. It's based on the Ignis and done up in a matte-finish army green with orange accents, a canoe strapped to the roof, metallic underbody trim, and bigger wheels. It's not unlike the Ignis Trail concept that Suzuki revealed at the main Tokyo Motor Show a few months ago, but taken in more of an outdoorsy direction than a sporty one. Joining it is the Hustler Rough Road Style, based on the oddball square wagon we first saw in concept form back in 2013 but ruggedized for the rocky trail. To that end it features a jacked-up suspension, knobby little tires, caged-in headlights, and a yellow paint job that makes it look as though it wandered through a paintball arena. It even has its name spelled out on the nose like you'd expect to see on a Hummer or Land Rover, and blacked-out trim on everything from the roof to the door handles. Last but not least is the Alto Works GP, which takes the punchy little hot hatch we reported on just the other day in an even racier direction. It features a blue and acid green livery borrowed from Suzuki's MotoGP bike, complemented by a custom carbon-fiber hood. It'll be displayed at the Japanese tuner expo alongside its two-wheeled counterpart, not to mention a smattering of other vehicles from the company's lineup when the show opens on January 15.
