1988 Suzuki Samurai Jx Sport Utility 2-door 1.3l on 2040-cars

This is a good little off road beast but it is far from perfect. I'll do my best to be up front with all known issues, just keep in mind that this is a 1988 off road vehicle and was used as such. It does have some rust and dents and oil leaks. The worst of the dents is in the drivers side rocker where a deer thought he had the right of way. The drivers seat has some tears in it and the tach don't work because of the MSD ignition but I do have an after market one that goes with it, you have to install it. This vehicle has been highly modified and I'll try to list them all. The engine is the stock 1.3, the head has been rebuilt and a new isky cam was installed less than 1000 miles ago. It has a new header with full exhaust. New 8mm plug wires and MSD ignition and coil, 105 amp GM alternator, Harley Davidson CV carb with custom built intake (it does start good in cold weather). It does need a pan gasket and I'm gonna try to do that in the next few days. It's been lifted about 8 inches or so and has 4.57 gears in both diffs and rides on 33 X 16 tires. Spidertrax 1 inch wheel spacers, trail tough shackles in the rear, BMW high steer mod, and Zor "Snatch" t-case mount. It has the doorless mod and has grenade door handles and shifter knobs. It has new aftermarket bumpers front and rear with l.e.d lights, Bushwacker 6 inch flares, roof rack with 100 watt lights and a hi-lift jack mounted on the front bumper. Inside it has diamond plate panels, 5 way harnesses, Tracker steering wheel, and an aftermarket stereo with aux input. I also have various parts that go with it, extra t-case, tranny,rear diff with 4.57 gears, mini spool and 1.6 Tracker engine. The odometer is showing 16371 miles but i know its been turned over. Junkyard Gem: 1991 Geo Metro LSi Convertible
Sat, May 14 2022Americans lost the ability to buy a new Detroit-made convertible starting in the 1977 model year (unless you count aftermarket conversions), not regaining it until drop-top Chrysler K-Cars showed up in showrooms in 1981. This gave convertibles a certain magical quality that lasted for quite a while here, and so it seemed to make sense for GM to offer an open-air version of the Geo Metro. Here's one of those cars, spotted in a self-service yard in northeastern Colorado. The Metro was really a second-generation Suzuki Cultus, successor to the 1985-1988 Chevrolet Sprint. While a four-cylinder engine became available in the later Metro (which got Chevrolet badges when the Geo brand got the axe in 1997), all Chevy Sprints and early Metros got this 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine. You're looking at 55 Suzuki horsepower here. The XFi version of the Metro (not available with a convertible top) managed to get better than 60 highway miles per gallon with an engine rated at 49 horsepower. There was an automatic transmission available… for 465 bucks (about $993 in 2022 dollars). That would have added nearly 5% to the cost of this $9,740 car ($20,805 today) and killed the fuel economy, so nearly all Metro buyers got their cars with three pedals. Do you like simple instruments in cars? You'll love the Metro! This one is good and rusty, with some really scary corrosion underneath. I think it sat in a field, buried to the axles, for many years. However, the bra tells us that it once had an owner who loved their then-shiny red convertible. No 1991 competitor could offer a new convertible with a price tag even close to that of the $9,740 Metro LSi. Oh, sure, a ragtop version of the wretched Yugo was available in 1990 and maybe 1991, but that doesn't count. A new Miata cost $13,800 that year, with a Mazda-based Mercury Capri going for $12,588. Mitsubishi CEO vows to stay in US on heels of Suzuki's departure
Wed, 07 Nov 2012By now, you're surely aware that Suzuki is pulling out of the US market. It was a bit of a foregone conclusion to most who've been paying attention to the automotive realm, but it still sent a small shockwave through the industry. And one of the most oft-heard retorts goes something like this: "Next up: Mitsubishi."
It's easy to understand why many question Mitsubishi's existence in the States. After all, now that Suzuki is gone, Mitsubishi is the Japanese automaker with the fewest sales in America. Furthermore, the automaker's market share has dropped from .7 percent to just .4 percent after seeing sales fall 29 percent to 50,103 units through October.
In any case, Mitsubishi fans needn't worry. Speaking to Automotive News, Mitsubishi President Osamu Masuko said, "We have no intention whatsoever of withdrawing from the US market." That's about as clear as clear can get. It's also worth mentioning that Gayu Uesugi was just named chairman of Mitsubishi Motors North America, and his main responsibility will be to revitalize the brand in the US.
Incentives aid smooth Suzuki wind down
Tue, 04 Dec 2012American Suzuki is continuing to offer buyers substantial incentives even as the company winds down operations. Those looking to nab a new Suzuki vehicle will find rebates of between $500 and $2,000 and zero-percent financing for up to 72 months as dealers look to liquidate inventory following the automaker's filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last month. The strategy is working so far. Last month saw Suzuki sell a total of 2,224 vehicles, up 22 percent compared to the same time period in 2011. The Japanese manufacturer says it will continue the incentives through December.
Suzuki had around 5,000 units in dealer inventory in the US when it went into bankruptcy protection, with an additional 1,500-1,700 vehicles headed to dealers at that time. The company says it will continue to honor warranties moving forward using its current dealer network. Most of the dealerships will become Suzuki service and parts stores after American Suzuki shutters car sales in the US.
