Up for auction is this 1987 Suzuki Samurai JX Tin Top. Here is the info on this Samurai. I purchased this vehicle a little more than a year ago and was really happy to find it because tin tops are hard to find. I hate to sell this one but I have a new baby and I really don't have time for the Samurai. When I purchased this samurai it had just been painted the metallic red it is now. I have done a lot of work since I bought this samurai. When I purchased this Sami, I purchased it knowing that it would not pass California smog in the condition it was in. The previous owner had the carb way too rich and consequently killed the piston rings and Catalytic converter.

Here is the work that was done to the motor: The motor was completely disassembled and inspected. Upon inspection it was determined that the motor could be rebuilt to standard specs. The block was honed and surfaced, the crank journals were polished. The cylinder head was surfaced the seats ground and new seals were installed ( the guides were good). After a trip to the machine shop the motor was reassembled with new rings and standard size bearings. The motor received all new seals and gaskets as well as a new timing belt, water pump, NGK plugs, NGK wires, cap and rotor, new o2 sensor, new Catalytic converter. I had the electronically controlled carburetor rebuilt and it works flawlessly. While I had the motor out I also installed a new Exedy (Japanese OEM) Clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing. This motor runs great, it start right away and runs very smooth. I have really only driven the samurai to get the motor broken in and to complete the state smog check so there are only about 50 miles on all the new components. From the miles that I have driven I can tell you that this Samurai drives well. The transmission shifts well through all the gears and 4x4 works with out any problems.

You can see from the pictures that this Samurai is very clean. The paint looks great and really turns heads. This Samurai has its original interior and it is really nice for its age. There are no tears and It has never been smoked in, the seats and door panels have a little discoloration but no major stains. The rear seat is not the original but is grey and matches well with the rest of the interior ( FYI there are no rear seat belts). I recently installed new window felts so the windows are nice and tight with no rattles or wind noise. There is a newer CD player with USB/ mp3 installed. This is a JX model so it has a Tach. and clock ( clock does not work). The heater works well and no A/C just windows.

Tires are great condition, they are Goodyear Wranglers P235 75 R15 they all match and there is a 5th one for the spare. The tires are at about 80% tread and are mounted on the alloy wheels pictured. Also included are the original steel wheels. The suspension is completely stock no mods at all.

Overall this samurai is better than 95% of the samurai out there. It has all the major work done now it just needs some one to add the finishing touches.

The Good:
*New Paint
*New motor
*Great original interior
* Not hacked up

Areas that could use attention:

The drive line and steering maybe a little loose. This may just be how this vehicle is because of drive line being routed through the t case and the solid front axle. I have not driven other samurai so I have nothing to compare it to.

the rear brake proportioning valve leaks very slowly (common Problem), I would say that this part obviously needs to be changed for safety.

There is a slight amount of rust inside the rear wheel wells. It is at he very bottom. This rust is not near the paint and does not compromise the floor pan.

The passenger side rocker has been damaged by either a misplaced jack or some road hazard. The pinch weld is a little mangled.

After paint the emblems were lost and never reinstalled.

Actual milage is not guaranteed, odometer rolls over at 100,000 miles

This vehicle is 26 years old please look carefully at all the photos before bidding. I have attempted to describe known faults in a transparent manner. It is up to the buyer to satisfy themselves as to the condition of this vehicle before bidding. Prospective buyers may request to see the vehicle in person prior to the end of the auction.

2013 Suzuki SX4 gets new generation to carry on without us [w/video]

Wed, 06 Mar 2013

Despite the fact that the coffin has been sealed on Suzuki's US automotive arm, the brand is carrying on elsewhere in the world. The first new product to spearhead the Japanese automaker's product offerings in Europe is this SX4 crossover, making its official debut here at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. You may remember the little SX4 as the cheapest all-wheel-drive car on sale in the US, packing cute styling and efficient, affordable packaging. And it doesn't appear that the formula has changed too much for this new generation, despite what we think are less attractive new duds derived from Suzuki's 2012 S Cross Concept.
The new SX4 is powered by a choice of two 1.6-liter engines - one diesel, one petrol - the former mated to a six-speed manual transmission while the latter uses a CVT with a "seven-speed manual mode" operated by steering wheel-mounted paddles. All-wheel drive remains intact on the SX4, now with four driver-selectable modes and the Allgrip name.
Suzuki is touting the SX4 as having the world's first double sliding glass sunroof, offering "the largest opening areas" in the segment. Overall, the updated interior looks nicely designed and quite functional, though not exactly a shining beacon of refinement.

Suzuki teases production C-segment crossover, could it have saved them in US?

Wed, 06 Feb 2013

Suzuki may be retreating (amidst booming sales) from the US market, but its efforts to woo European buyers are still going strong. Witness as proof these shadowy teaser images of the automaker's new C-segment crossover that it plans to unveil at the Geneva Motor Show next month.
Until the official debut, we've got just a few tidbits of information to report about the upcoming Suzuki. We're told, and can see, that the car has been modeled on the S-Cross concept car from the 2012 Paris Motor Show. Quite a bit of translation has happened, however, from show car to production form, as we see that the sweeping greenhouse of the S-Cross has been ditched in favor of a traditional pillared setup, large LEDs have moved from the lower front fascia to under the headlamps, and the grille is now much more in line with the rest of Suzuki's current range. The crossover is still painted in a faintly froggish shade of green, though, so the weirdness hasn't been completely leeched out.
We're also informed that the new C-segment offering will have an available a four-wheel-drive powertrain and one of the largest luggage areas in the segment. All of which strikes us as good stuff, but we're still not convinced that this unnamed entrant could have turned the Japanese automaker's fortunes in North America - even if it would have competed in one of the industry's fastest-growing segments. Feel free to read over Suzuki's brief press release below and look at the images before speculating for yourself in Comments.

Suzuki Kizashi recalled due to pesky spiders

Wed, 27 Aug 2014

Spiders seem to love the fuel tanks of Japanese sedans. Mazda had to recall its Mazda6 twice for arachnid webs blocking their car's vent lines. Now, the Suzuki Kizashi is also being called in because spiders can block the car's evaporative canister vent hose, a condition which could cause excessive negative pressure in the tank, eventually leading to a crack and fuel leak. The campaign covers about 19,249 examples of the 2010-2013 model year Kizashi built from October 2009 through July 2012.
According to the automaker's defect notice released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the first report of a spiderweb blocking a vent line was in 2011. It began monitoring field data and found six more incidents from 2011 to 2013. In 2014, there was one more case, and with further investigation, Suzuki decided to initiate a recall. There are no reports of accidents or injuries of the webs causing accidents or injuries in the US.
In a similar move to Mazda, Suzuki is replacing the evaporative canister vent line with one that has a filter in place to keep the spiders out. Also, if the lines are obstructed by webs in a specific vehicle, the fuel tank will also get swapped. Scroll down to read the full recall announcement from NHTSA.
