DISCLAIMER- PLEASE READ EVERY WORD.

FIRST I RECENTLY RECEIVED BAD FEEDBACK FROM A BUYER OF A USED 1970 TRUCK, WHO NOT ONLY DEMANDED 1500 CASH IN EXCHANGE FOR FEEDBACK AFTER THE TRANSACTION, BUT AMONG HIS LIST OF COMPLAINTS WAS A LITTLE "WHINING" NOISE IN TRANSMISSION IN I THINK THIRD GEAR, A MISSING "LITTLE SCREW" SOMEWHERE IN THE HEADLINER FRAME, AND A TURN SIGNAL BULB OUT. THIS GUY TAUGHT ME A LESSON. IN HIS ESTIMATION I SHOULD HAVE LABELED VEHICLE A "PROJECT" BECAUSE OF THESE DEFECTS. SO I WILL ENSURE IN THE FUTURE THAT I TRY EVEN HARDER TO COMMUNICATE THE ISSUES WITH A VEHICLE OR PRODUCT TO ANY AND ALL POTENTIAL BUYERS.

YOU ARE LOOKING AT A JEEP GRAND WAGONEER. IT HAS 235,000 MILES. THE SURFBOARD AND LUGGAGE RACKS AND PICNIC BASKET ARE FROM A LOCAL PROP SHOP AND DO NOT BELONG TO ME. THEY DO NOT COME WITH THE VEHICLE. IM SORRY.

THIS VEHICLE WAS TRADED IN TO ME AS PART OF A DEAL TO RESTORE A GRAND WAGONEER. I HAVE NOT OWNED THE VEHICLE FOR LONG. I DONT HAVE TIME TO WORK ON THIS VEHICLE SO ILL PASS IT ON TO SOMEONE AS A GOOD "PROJECT"

I INSTALLED; NEW WIPERS, NEW REAR SHOCKS, NEW FRONT BRAKE PADS, NEW MASTER CYLINDER, NEW OIL PUMP, NEW BATTERY, NEW GROMMETS IN ROOF RACK, AFTERMARKET RADIO. NEW STARTER.

I HAD DRIVERS SEAT REUPHOLSTERED. AND INSTALLED NEW HEADLINER. (CARDBOARD ON HEADLINER IS NOT PERFECT AND DROOPED IN SOME AREAS. BUT HEADLINER ITSELF IS INSTALLED PROPERLY. TOP CONSOLE AND FLOOR CENTER CONSOLE WERE ALSO REUPHOLSTERED AS WERE SUN VISORS. NEW WOOD GRAIN VINYL WAS INSTALLED.

VERY LITTLE RUST ON VEHICLE THAT IS VISIBLE THE BODY ON THIS TRUCK AND CHASSIS ARE REALLY NICE AND SOLID. GREAT BASE TO START WITH FOR A BEACH WOODY.
I ALSO HAVE THE WINDOW FRAME THAT IS MISSING ON THE INSIDE OF REAR PASSENGER WINDOW AND THE JEEP GRAND WAGONEER CHROME EMBLEMS THAT GO ON VINYL. THAT WILL GO WITH THE CAR, OR ILL INSTALL IT FOR FREE BEFORE CAR LEAVES IF BUYER WANTS IT.

THE TIRES LOOK ALMOST NEW BUT I CANT ATTEST TO THEIR AGE OR CONDITION. THEY HOLD AIR AND THEY LOOK GREAT. I DONT KNOW IF THEY HAVE BEEN IN A GARAGE TWENTY YEARS OR INSTALLED LAST YEAR.

ALL WINDOWS WORK, AND GO UP AND DOWN INCLUDING REAR WINDOW. POWER LOOKS DONT WORK WELL AS WITH ALL THESE CARS.

I DONT KNOW IF ITS ORIGINAL PAINT OR NOT, WHO KNOWS WHAT HAS BEEN DONE IN TWENTY YEARS. BODY LOOKS VERY STRAIGHT AND NO SIGN OF VISIBLE DAMAGE.

TRUCK RUNS AND DRIVES. ENGINE SOUNDS LIKE IT HAS NOISY LIFTER BUT I HAVE NOT TAKEN IT APART TO KNOW. TRANSMISSION SEEMS WORN AND SEEMS TO SHIFT OK WHEN DRIVING BUT ITS VERY EASY TO PUT INTO GEAR. I CLEANED OUT CARB AND FUEL PUMP, AND PUT NEW FUEL FILTER AND IT GOT A LITTLE BETTER BUT STILL NOT AS IT SHOULD BE. THIS MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION HAVE OVER 235000 MILES. TRUCK IS NICE NOT A RUST BUCKET, AND HAS A DECENT INTERIOR. I WOULD NOT BUY THIS TRUCK IF YOU ARE NOT THINKING OF REDOING MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION WITH THESE KIND OF MILES. I DROVE TRUCK 30 MILES TO BRING IT TO ME, AND DRIVES. IT IS NOT IN MY OPINION A DAILY DRIVER NOW UNTIL MOTOR AND TRANNY HAVE BEEN GONE OVER. MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION COULD GO ANOTHER 500 MILES OR 3 MILES V8 MOTORS WILL RUN EVEN IF SHOT. A 235K MILE AMERICAN CAR MOTOR IS IN MY OPINION AT THE END OF ITS LIFE IF YOU CANT DOCUMENT ITS HISTORY OR ITS GIVING SIGNS OF WEAR AS IS THIS ONE. IT HAS HAD A LOT OF WORK DONE TO IT, AND CHASSIS IS EXCELLENT, CHECK OUT VIDEO. BECAUSE OF THE MILEAGE THIS VEHICLE IS A CANDIDATE FOR MOTOR AND TRANNY REBUILD IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A GOOD RELIABLE TRUCK. PLEASE DO NOT CONSIDER BUYING THIS TRUCK IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND THIS. WHY AGGRAVATE YOURSELF IF YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DO MAJOR MECHANICAL WORK. THE COSMETICS ON THIS TRUCK ARE VERY DECENT AND IF THE RIGHT PERSON BUYS IT AND DOES THE MECHANICAL WORK, THEY COULD SAVE A LOT OF MONEY ON COSMETICS AND HAVE A NICE BEACH CRUISER. IF I DON'T SELL IT ILL REBUILD DRIVE TRAIN AND JUST RAISE THE PRICE ACCORDINGLY.

I WELCOME ALL INSPECTIONS. VEHICLE IS AS DESCRIBED. I WOULD LIKE TO SELL IT SO IF YOU WANT TO NEGOTIATE PRICE SOME.... I AM WILLING TO LISTEN.

PLEASE IF YOUR INTENTION IS TO PURCHASE VEHICLE WITHOUT ASKING QUESTIONS AND THEN COMPLAIN OR DEMAND MONIES AFTER ITS BEEN PURCHASED I PREFER THAT YOU DO NOT BUY THIS VEHICLE AND MAKE US BOTH A LOT HAPPIER. THIS IS A USED TRUCK.  PLEASE DON'T EXPECT A NEW TRUCK.

I CAN NOT DETAIL EVERY SINGLE IMPERFECTION. I DO MY BEST. CHECK OUT ALL RECENT CARS I'VE SOLD. IN THE PAST I HAD COMPLAINTS ABOUT THINGS LIKE VEHICLE NOT HAVING ENOUGH GAS, OR NOT PASSING STATE INSPECTION AT A PARTICULAR STATE. PLEASE BE REASONABLE IN YOUR EXPECTATIONS, I WILL DESCRIBE VEHICLE HONESTLY.

PLEASE NOTE VEHICLES LEAVE WITH A 1/4 TANK OF GAS, FOR SAFETY REASONS . SOMETIMES THEY GET MOVED AROUND IN TRANSPORT SO GAS IN TANK CAN VARY WHEN IT REACHES ITS DESTINATION.

Suzuki shows weird, wonderful trio of concepts in Tokyo

Wed, Oct 28 2015

Suzuki brought a whole mess of intriguing little runabouts to the Tokyo Motor Show this year. And though the Japanese automaker no longer participates (at least with its four-wheel automobiles) in the North American market, we didn't want to miss the opportunity to check out its latest oddities, and capture them for your Nipponophilic amusement. The one that caught our attention the most on the Suzuki stand this year is the Mighty Deck. The little yellow minicar features a canvas roof, an open rear cargo bed, and a genuinely delighted look on its face. Though it strikes us as about as useful as an umbrella in a snow storm, we really dig the stylistic combination of new materials and old, the rugged with the approachable, and of course the tiny size that could only come from the densely packed island nation. We're not exactly longing for the return of the Suzuki X90, but we'd love a new version to look like this Mighty Deck. Joining the Mighty Deck is the equally unusual Air Triser, a concept that aims to put the "mini" back in minivan. Though clearly designed for the crowded streets of Tokyo, the Air Triser manages to squeeze three rows of seats into its compact footprint. Maximizing ingress, egress, and interior volume, the engine (surely displacing about as much as a bottle of bubble tea) is pushed all the way into the front, with pillarless side portals consisting of opposing sliding doors. Its shoulders may be high, but the interior appears light and airy, with four individual buckets floating atop the flat wood floor ahead of a rear bench, all uninterrupted by consoles or excessive clutter. Though clearly much smaller than what we'd call a minivan on our side of the Pacific, designs like these make us wonder if we really need our family haulers as big as they are. Though there were plenty of other production JDM curiosities on the Suzuki stand, the last concept that caught out eye is the Ignis Trail. The ruggedized soft-road hatchback combines rounded styling with beefed-up wheel arches packed with (relatively) large rolling stock, rack rails on a black roof, and anodized red accents inside and out to offset the white and black color scheme. Scope out the trio in our gallery of live images from the Tokyo Motor Show.

Suzuki Swift gets a motorcycle-inspired wide body for Tokyo Auto Salon

Mon, Jan 6 2020

Tokyo Auto Salon is just around the corner, and companies such as Daihatsu and Mitsubishi have announced a slew of impressive custom cars. Suzuki has also announced its custom lineup, which is a bit humble this year at just three. They range from the wild Suzuki Swift Sport Katana to the mild Hustler Street Base. The Swift is the most impressive of Suzuki's show cars. Its name, and supposedly its looks, are based on the Katana sports bike. We're not sure they have that much in common beyond the silver and red paint job, but that's all right because this Swift still looks excellent. It features aggressive fender flares and a reworked front fascia. Bigger, wider wheels fit underneath those flares, and it has side-exit exhaust to cap off the extreme design. Next up is the Suzuki Jimny Sierra Marine Edition. Suzuki started with the wider Jimny Sierra model and fitted it with equipment for a day in and around the water. It has storage for fishing rods on either side and an interior covered in wetsuit material. The roof has been raised for extra interior space. The exterior also gets a garnish of visual upgrades such as custom wheels, chrome trim, paint scheme, auxiliary lights and tow rings. The third and final custom vehicle is the Hustler Street Base. It's fairly basic with a matte gray paint scheme, a few decals, and an upgraded audio system inside with some flashy lighting. Apparently it's designed for hip young people who live in the city and might be interested in extreme sports and an active lifestyle. Related Video:

Question of the Day: Most heinous act of badge engineering?

Wed, Dec 30 2015

Badge engineering, in which one company slaps its emblems on another company's product and sells it, has a long history in the automotive industry. When Sears wanted to sell cars, a deal was made with Kaiser-Frazer and the Sears Allstate was born. Iranians wanted new cars in the 1960s, and the Rootes Group was happy to offer Hillman Hunters for sale as Iran Khodro Paykans. Sometimes, though, certain badge-engineered vehicles made sense only in the 26th hour of negotiations between companies. The Suzuki Equator, say, which was a puzzling rebadge job of the Nissan Frontier. How did that happen? My personal favorite what-the-heck-were-they-thinking example of badge engineering is the 1971-1973 Plymouth Cricket. Chrysler Europe, through its ownership of the Rootes Group, was able to ship over Hillman Avanger subcompacts for sale in the US market. This would have made sense... if Chrysler hadn't already been selling rebadged Mitsubishi Colt Galants (as Dodge Colts) and Simca 1100s as (Simca 1204s) in its American showrooms. Few bought the Cricket, despite its cheery ad campaign. So, what's the badge-engineered car you find most confounding?
