I'm selling my truck. I haven't been driving it much the last two years, so it needs a couple things fixed. That I'm just too lazy to deal with. The engine is in great shape, I've always kept the oil changed and done routine maintenance.  She's in pretty good condition, but if you're looking for a truck with a good paint job and no dents, look elsewhere. This is an off road truck and it's beaten up.

I took her out to Idyllwild camping and the desert in a few months back and hit a few trails. She's running just fine and starts without a problem.

I had the rear end rebuilt in 2010: used axles, repacked the bearings and swapped the modified 3rd member with a used one. The PO had modded the original and when it broke it chewed everything up inside there, so it's pretty much brand new. It passed smog in May this year, but she'll probably need a tune up and oil change before she's ready to pass again.  There's a little bluish smoke coming out of the tail pipe right now, but only every once in a while, it's not constant, so that will need to be taken care of.  Buyer will either have to take care of smogging or register the vehicle as off highway, because I just don't have the money to spend on smogging it right now.

To the best of my knowledge the car had it's engine replaced around 2000 after it was salvaged/sold for scrap because of a ruined engine.  The previous owner had most of it's off road mods done around then and kept it on a desert property in the San Diego area outside of Anza-Borrego and put about 60,000 miles on the rebuild between 2001 and 2010 using it as a trail vehicle/beer runner. I used it as a work vehicle starting  in 2011 when my Chevy died, and I suppose I put another 60,000 on it since then. (Not sure because the speedometer, odometer weren't working when I bought it, which I recently fixed). Prior to that, all I know is that it was salvaged, I assume because the engine died.

I just don't drive her enough anymore to warrant going through and fixing everything and since I lost my job, I really don't have the money to deal with it.  I think it's time for someone else to take care of her.

The Pros:
SPOA lift
2" welded tube roll cage
Custom interior PVC door panels
Rear cargo deck above spare tire
Jerry Can and Water can
New Clutch Jan/Feb 2012
New starter Dec 2011
New Alternator Aug 2011
New front shocks June 2013
Off road lights
Full size spare
Nylon webbing handles throughout
Push-button ignition
Reinforced rear shock mounts
Reinforced (indestructible) rear leaf spring pads
Toyoda power steering unit
Reinforced transfer case mounts
a bunch of new engine mounts
CD player with aux input for ipod or phone.
The rag top has no holes or tears, but a lot of the buttons are broken and bolted down.  The isinglass is a getting scuffed.
Has a screen top for summer.

The Cons:
Oil leak
Power steering leak
Smoke in exhaust
Dents, dings scratches and scars.
Needs brake pads
The starter flywheel needs to be replaced. It's got a worn spot and it'll tear up the starter's gear when it misses. Right now it misses 1/25 or so times. The last starter took about a year to get chewed up enough that it wouldn't start up, so I figure it's got about eleven months, considering how little I've been driving her this year.
Needs new tires.
Off-road lights are shorted somewhere
The front passenger side spring pad is cracked lengthwise, so it still works, but it's going to wear through the u-bolt after a while.  I think they're $35.  I was going to redesign the whole front suspension and weld new upper and lower mounts, so I never replaced it.
Dash lights have a short and don't work.
Ext drivers door handle is broken, needs to be replaced (they're about $8)
No heat, not sure if it ever had AC
I scrapped the rear tire mount because I was going to build a new one, but never got around to it.  Right now it's tied to the cargo deck with the gas can.  I still have the tire mount, two of them in fact, one of them is cut down to mount flush against the rear door panel, the other is stock.
Horn's broke

That's everything I know about the vehicle.

I know she's not in great condition, but I've put in a lot of mechanical work so she shouldn't be breaking down any time soon.

Shoot me an email with any questions or if you want to come check her out. If you want more pics, I can send those too.

I can take cash in the amount of the winning bid, but I will need 25% down via Paypal if it takes longer than 24 hours to retrieve the vehicle.  I will also accept the full amount via Paypal.  If you want to ship the vehicle, I can assist you in as far as meeting with the shipping company or person and handing over the vehicle.  After the title and the keys leave my possession I can assume no responsibility for the vehicle.

Junkyard Gem: 1993 Suzuki Swift GT

Fri, Aug 25 2017

General Motors sold rebaged versions of the Suzuki Cultus in the United States, first as the 1984-1988 Chevrolet Sprint, then as the 1989-1997 Geo Metro, and finally as the 1998-2001 Chevrolet Metro. Meanwhile, Suzuki sold the Cultus on these shores as the Swift. Three-cylinder Metros were miserably slow and admirably fuel-efficient, but it was possible to buy the same car with a yowling 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine making 100 horsepower: the Swift GT. Here's a very rare example, found in a Colorado self-service wrecking yard. These cars weighed only about 1,800 pounds, so they were nearly as quick as the more powerful but heavier Honda Del Sol Si and Nissan Sentra SE-R ... and much cheaper. At $10,149 (about $17,400 in inflation-adjusted 2017 dollars), the Swift GT looked like a steal next to the $12,455 Sentra SE-R and the $16,070 Del Sol Si. However, the Hyundai Scoupe Turbo, priced at a mere $10,999, looked like the best deal of all in 1993. This one has lived a hard life, with body damage, faded interior, and rust in the usual spots. 175,303 miles, most of them probably spent above 5,000 rpm. Perhaps some Metro owner will grab the running gear and seats, in order to create a Geo sleeper... but we doubt it. Another piece of obscure automotive history, bound for the crusher. Suzuki USA wasn't pushing Swift advertising very hard in 1993, so we'll go to the car's homeland for a TV ad for the regular Cultus hatchback. This content is hosted by a third party. The earlier version of the Cultus GTi (factory-hot-rod counterpart to the U.S.-market Chevrolet Sprint) got some ads full of fire and Pet Shop Boys in its homeland.

Jaguar I-Pace named World Car of the Year

Wed, Apr 17 2019

NEW YORK — The Jaguar I-Pace has been named World Car of the Year, an award meant to honor the most significant new car introduction and conferred by an international jury of automotive journalist judges. The group announced the winners of additional awards at the New York Auto Show, with the Audi A7 named World Luxury Car of the Year, the McLaren 720S recognized as World Performance Car of the Year, and the Suzuki Jimny named World Urban Car. The I-Pace additionally took home two other awards: World Car Design of the Year and World Green Car of the Year. The WCOTY team of 86 jurors hail from 24 countries, and the organization is independent and not tied to any publication. This is the 15th year for the awards. For this year's World Car of the Year award the top three finalists were the I-Pace, the Audi E-Tron, and the Volvo S60/V60. Previous WCOTY winners were the Volvo XC60 in 2018 and the Jaguar F-Pace in 2017. View 74 Photos

Lucky Australians get super-limited Suzuki Jimny Heritage Edition

Fri, Mar 3 2023

Every time the Suzuki Jimny comes up, people in the U.S. throw around phrases like “forbidden fruit” and words like “unobtanium.” Still, the automakerÂ’s newest off-roader may be impossible to get, even for people in markets where itÂ’s sold. The new Jimny Heritage Edition will soon be available in Australia, but its super-limited numbers will make it one of the rarest pint-sized off-roaders yet. Suzuki said it would only build 300 of the retro-inspired Jimnys. The companyÂ’s Australian website shows four colorways, including green, white, grey, and black, each accented by red and orange graphics and red mudflaps. Heritage decals and a unique cargo tray round out the look. The Heritage Edition gets the same 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that the standard Jimny and Jimny Lite get, which produces around 100 horsepower and 96 pound-feet of torque. Suzuki offers a four-speed automatic transmission in other variants, but the Heritage comes exclusively with a five-speed manual gearbox. The JimnyÂ’s ultra-compact size, short wheelbase, and almost nonexistent front and rear overhangs make it a surprisingly capable off-roader. Utility vehicles have ballooned in size here in the States, and while we never got the Jimny, we did get oddities like the Geo/Chevy Tracker before the market went wild on luxo-barge SUVs. The Heritage Edition builds on the GLX trim, the most “luxurious” variant, if you can call it that. The trim gets a seven-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation, LED headlights, a rearview camera, fog lights, and even some advanced driver aids. Though small and somewhat basic, the Jimny Heritage Edition can be upgraded with several options and accessories. Suzuki offers skid plates, cargo accessories, premium speakers, and even an $1,800 (AUD) 15-inch wheel kit. Pricing starts at AUD 33,490, or $22,591, a few thousand more than the base Jimny. White is the only standard paint color, however, so lucky buyers will have to shell out an additional $695 for one of the other hues. Related Video
