Rod's Auto Sales, also known as SamuraiSalvage (Google or Bing to find us), is located in Marshalltown, IA. We have been selling all new and used parts for Samurai, Sidekick and Tracker since 1998. We also have been selling and restoring complete Samurais (always with clear titles ... never prior salvage) for the last 25 years. Up for auction is this pristine 1993 Suzuki Samurai 4x4 that we call our time capsule. This Samurai is like new inside and out! 59,323 original miles (this Samurai has a million mile odometer and has been checked out with Carfax). Many of the miles were accumulated while being in tow. This Samurai is a 100% rust free Texas truck. All original non-faded paint. This Samurai has always been garaged. The interior is like new, as shown in pictures. Our shop has recently performed the following updates: new tinted windshield with new rubber gasket, new brakes, new high flow quiet exhaust, new timing belt, tune-up, all fluids changed, new front bumper with new end caps and new lights, new original size tires with new lugnuts and original beauty rings on wheels, newer JVC CD player with four speakers. The 1993-1995 were the best of the Samurais and were identical for these three years. Factory updates included: more powerful 1298 cc high compression fuel injected engine (will run 75 mph!); improved 5-speed transmission with lower overdrive ratio; improved transfer case with larger output shafts; larger capacity radiator; larger driveshaft flanges; improved outboard swaybar (much more stable than older Samurais); improved leaf springs with teflon pads between leafs (rides 100% better than older Samurais); better wrap around seats; and updated seat tracks enabling the seat to go back 2" farther than previous models. This Samurai runs, drives and looks like a new one. Everything works perfectly. If you are looking for the best Samurai that you can find, then don't let this one get away from you. Once it's gone, you may never find one like this again. If you are looking for a cheap fixer-upper, this is not the Samurai for you. The new owner will not be disappointed! The Samurai is the only street legal SUV that can be legally licensed for the Iowa and many other states off-road parks. Much better than a side by side and you can legally drive it down the road...or to your fishing camp, hunting camp, cabin by the lake or going off-road with it. We can install a new black fiberglass one piece insulated hard top for this Samurai in place of the soft top for additional $$. We can also install a lift kit, new heavy duty front winch bumper, heavy duty rear bumper, larger wheels and tires, reduction transfer case, lockers, etc. etc..... We can also have your Samurai picked up for any alteration including a total restoration. When project is completed we will send it back to you via truck transport. We offer reasonable transport quotes for the potential customer. For Canadian customers we can have this delivered to the nearest U.S. border town. This Samurai is also for sale on our Suzuki lot. But once reserve is met, it will no longer be for sale locally...making it fair to all bidders. Any questions? Call Rod at 641-751-2468.

Suzuki considering Cappuccino revival?
Tue, 13 Aug 2013It's not a secret that a few of us here at Autoblog have a crush on Japanese Kei cars. The diminutive sizes and cheeky looks of most of the segment are certainly endearing factors, but it was the sporting Kei cars of the 1990s that made for the most delicious forbidden fruit.
Suzuki's entry in that time and market space was the Cappuccino, a rear-wheel-drive coupe with a removable roof and roll bar, powered by a 657cc three-cylinder motor. The car hung around the Japanese market until 1997 (and was booted up in Gran Turismo form for years after that). Now, rumor has it that the little coupe could be getting a reboot around 2016.
The reports are still a bit short on detail; some indicate that a new Cappuccino could be built up on an existing Kei platform from Suzuki. If the new car were to keep the RWD layout of the original, however, that would mean building up the model on the live-rear-axle bones of the Suzuki Jimny or Carry.
Suzuki Jimny is the classic Defender homage Land Rover should be building
Mon, May 20 2019Lake District, U.K. – The Land Rover Defender is to Brits what the F-150 is to Americans. Or rather it was, before it got too expensive and the farmers all switched to Japanese pick-ups. The Defender was effectively put out to pasture, relegated to being a lifestyle trinket. And Land Rover's endless prevarication over replacing the Defender can be partly attributed to this dilemma: Should it be in the original's mold, a fix-it-with-hammers rugged utility vehicle? Or should it concede that market and instead become a premium premium-priced Mercedes G-Class rival? Meanwhile, while Land Rover had dithered, others have capitalized – not least Suzuki's Jimny, which nails the seemingly conflicting demands of the new Defender's brief in one cute, pint-sized package So too is the Jimny priced at a level buyers in markets where it is offered can chalk up as a discretionary purchase. Dating back to the early 1970s, the Jimny has a heritage of its own to draw upon. But this lo-fi remix of traditional 4x4 tech and functionally slick styling has scored a bullseye for both utility users and the hipster brigade, both of whom place great value in authenticity. True, U.S. buyers won't have the option of the Jimny as they will the Defender, no matter how many emails Suzuki receives. But it's interesting to explore how it pulls the rug from underneath Land Rover, right here on the British stalwart's home soil. To demonstrate this we've travelled to the Lake District, a picturesque region on England's northwest coast with classic countryside vistas. Outside of the U.K., mountains topping out a little over 3,000 feet sound little to write home about – but, like the Jimny, modest size and ruggedness aren't mutually exclusive and there are trails here to test any street-spec off-roader. Competing pressures for access and a popular backlash against mechanized vehicles in the countryside mean tight controls for recreational drivers though, with many once-popular trails now closed to traffic. Those that remain accessible carry severe restrictions, our chosen route over Gatescarth Pass rarely opened to traffic and, when it is, limited to 4x4s with wheelbases of 100 inches or less. A Wrangler would just scrape through but these remain a rare sight in the U.K., and the limit is arguably skewed to favor the home team: the 90-inch, short-wheelbase Defenders that remain a staple for the quaintly English pursuit of 'green-laning'.
Osamu Suzuki names son Toshihiro president and COO
Wed, Jul 1 2015The old guard is slowly changing at Suzuki. The Japanese automaker controlled by its namesake family has appointed its scion, Toshihiro Suzuki, as its new president and chief operating officer. However, his aging father, Osamu Suzuki, now 85 years old, will continue to serve as chairman and CEO. The promotion was announced as part of a new board of directors revealed by Suzuki on Tuesday, confirming several executive and board appointments. They include the nomination of Yasuhito Harayama as vice chairman and Osamu Honda as chief technology officer. The eldest son of longtime chairman Osamu Suzuki, 56-year-old Toshihiro was named an executive vice president of the company in 2011. He's been widely regarded as the heir apparent, especially since his brother-in-law Hirotaka Ono died in 2007. Another president & COO, Hiroshi Tsuda, resigned in 2008, leaving Osamu Suzuki firmly in charge.
